I'm a Hue fan and predominantly use their smart bulbs throughout my house alongside throughout my house with a Hue bridge and Smartthings hub. When these new 75W-equivalent 1100 lumen bulbs were announced, I immediately jumped in excitement since my older Hue 800 lumen bulbs were always a smidge darker than other companies' 800 lumen bulbs.PACKAGING: Hue packages always look nice and classy and the actual device always feels secure. That tradition stays true with the 75W 1100 lumen bulb. Of the few I ordered, I did have one bulb that was DOA due to a mechanical issue; I could hear something tiny and loose rattling around when I shook it.SETUP: easy peasy using the Hue app on my Android phone. Of the few I ordered, I did have one bulb that was DOA due to a mechanical issue; I could hear something tiny and loose rattling around when I shook it.SETUP: easy peasy using the Hue app on my Android phone. Mind you, I use it with a Hue bridge so I can't attest to the standalone Bluetooth mode. After finishing pairing to the Hue bridge step, the next step was pairing it with my Smartthings Hub. This step is also easy as long as you know where to go in Samsung's poorly designed app: Go to "Add Device" > Sort "By Brand" > pick "Philips Hue" and follow the prompts. Reminder for anyone new to Hue, you must have a Hue bridge if you want it to connect into Smartthings. You can also connect both Hue and/or Smartthings to the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa and have the bulbs show up there, too.BRIGHTNESS: This is where my excitement died a little. As other reviewers have noted, these 1100 lumen bulbs aren't significantly brighter than the Hue 800 lumen variants. In order to achieve maximum brightness, you have to set the color temperature to 4000K but be prepared for disappointment in the 2700K-3200K range. In general, Philips Hue's bulbs are always a smidge dimmer next to the competition (where my super old Sylvania Lightify 800 lumen bulbs were brighter than my Hue 800 lumen bulbs).RESPONSE TIME: Hue is always very fast thanks to the Hue bridge which locally processes the request to turn On or Off. Again, I don't use the Bluetooth mode and can't attest to its speed there. For what it's worth, I've used other companies' bulbs (like the aforementioned Sylvania Lightify 60W 800 lumen bulbs) when connected to my Smartthings Hub and you can feel a delay.CONCLUSION: If you're shopping for Hue bulbs, might as well skip the $40 60W 800 lumen bulbs and go right for the $50 75W 1100 lumen bulbs. It's worth the extra $10 for the slight bump in brightness BUT don't expect miracles if you're looking to upgrade from the 800 lumen version. For all of the reasons above, it deserves a 4-star "Good" rating but not a top flight rating.

Up until today I would have rated this product 5 stars because they are the only smart bulbs I have used that work exactly how they are supposed to. Thereās no significant delay between when you hit the āonā button on your phone or other device, they work with the Apple HomeKit, and theyāre fairly easy to setup and donāt randomly disconnect and need to be setup again. However, two of the bulbs burnt out in the last two weeks and theyāre in fixtures that donāt get used as much as most. Iāve only had these bulbs for a year and they already need to be replaced. I donāt know how long it says the life is supposed to be but I know the two that died were way under the number of hours they are āsupposedā to last. At $14.99 per bulb thatās simply unacceptable. I have them in almost every lamp and fixture in my house but will be switching to smart switches and outlets as the rest of them burn out because those donāt just die when the bulb burns out. Iām thankful I didnāt buy any of the color bulbs because if I had Iād be furious because those are way more expensive. Itās a disappointing day for this smart home fan. :(

Easy to use, and durable. I use these as my living room lights, so they get used everyday. They lasted over a year of everyday use, and they were very easy to set up and use. I used the philips hue app and the google home apps to control them, and adding them to the google home was super easy and straightforward. I did have a home mini, so I could even use voice controls with no problems. After my first bulb started malfunctioning I went and bought a new one without any hesitation. I recommend it to everyone I talk to about smart lights. Its easy for my older parents too, and they enjoy the different lighting options. 10/10

I love that the bulbs are not using wireless resouces like other bulbs. Using these reduces traffic on my 2.4 GHz network. Very simple set up even though the instructions are thin. Just make sure you have an open port on your router for the hub. I picked up a longer Ethernet cable so it wasn't so close to my router. Using with Google Home and very fast response time turning off or on. Wish I had gotten these years ago. Best Buy price matched Amazon sale price so I decided to ditch the flipping off and on of other smart bulbs to reset or configure. One small glitch was it only discovered 2 bulbs. Just entered the serial number and moved on. It might be worth jotting down the numbers before trying to set them up in case it doesn't find one. I find myself always using the different light effects on here with the phillips hue app. I currently use google assistant for the voice commands. The app is really easy to use and isnt an issue. A complaint would be google not recognizing the bulbs in the same room only turining on one, rather than all of them. Maybe it is user error. Overall for the price itās definitely a party trick and has a lot of potential use for a mood setting and great ambiance with or without home enterainment. If its in sale and youāre willing to purchase, Id say its worth having. Another issue is once you buy for one area. Youre going to want to buy for the whole house which will add quick
I have become a firm believer in the Hue-verse over the past few years! I started with two Hue Go lights in my living room and now have multiple Smart Bulbs and Lights throughout our home! These bulbs were tasked with taking over our cheap Amazon LED (not smart) bulbs on the exterior of our home. One on the back porch, front porch and driveway light. These were a tad cheaper than the RGB counterparts and being that I was going for visibility over cool looks it was worth the extra money saved. They do still have different color temps from bright white to warmer day time!I have synced these to my Bridge, setup Dusk-Dawn and literally forgot about them. They worked without fail every day and have been going strong for over a year!
The Hue Instructions are terrible. It shows drawings with no instruction in any way. The connection to the bridge using the app didn't work if I was logged into the app. It instructed me to connect locally but no instruction on how to do so. So, I signed out of the app and forced the app to find the bridge. Once I did this, the app located the Bridge. From there, it was easy to get all the lights connected and to teach Alexa the skill using the bridge. I'm extremely impressed with the distance from the bridge and the speed and connection with my smart house system. Highly recommend the bridge and the app as well as any of the lighting that can be used with the bridge. I am setting up the routines and links to my other devices now. Love these. I use to come home to a dark house during winter, since it would get so dark so early. I hated to waste the electricity by leaving a light on all day just to come home to a lit up house. I bought these instead of investing in timers (like for Christmas lights) and these were the best decision I made. I have them all throughout my house now. You can pick the lighting shade, if you want it dim or bright, you don't need to install dimmer switches. Different light bulbs are available, sizes, shapes, indoor, outdoor and colors. My mom has these outside and changes each bulb to a different color and then repeats the pattern during different holidays for more lighting effects. It can all be controlled through the Phillips Hues app or now control it with Alexa ...Ā MoreLove these. Now when I come home my house is lit up, I can change the vacation mode to randomize the lights to come on and off so it looks like someone is home. Ditch the timers and get these! I have a setting that is "movie mode" this this dims the 4 bulbs I have in the room the ones over the tv go off and the ones behind me dim so its not pitch black and can get up without tripping, but doesn't reflect off the TV!! So much you can do with them.I also use the smartplugs for Scentsy, fish tank lights, and holiday lights now too! They have the timer features and connect for randomization as well.

These lights are cool! I can control them with my phone via Bluetooth and they work amazingly well. Even with multiple people connected to the lights, it manages to update within the up almost instantly. The only draw back is that they're pretty expensive. I would deciding whether or not to keep them since they costed almost 200 bucks and they're a little dimmer than my normal lights. But ended up just keeping them because it was cool. If you plan on using this foot a room light, be aware they might be a little darker than your current lights, not to say they make it impossible to see, just noticbly darker than usual. But they still work great if you want to use these smart lights as a replacement. Just leave the light switch on all the time because if you don't, ...Ā MoreThese lights are cool! Also, if the lights are off from your ohone and not the light switch, you'll have to wait a couple of seconds after you turn off the light switch to be able then the lights back on normally.
