Having made pasta by hand for several years, I was not convinced that this machine would produce decent extruded pasta, but I was wrong. It’s so simple and quick. Making pasta now takes 15 mins start to finish. Washing up is a breeze, and there’s very little wasted dough. Penne has been the most difficult, it collapses when cooked, but the other shapes work well.Instructions are pretty awful, and the Philips website accessed via the QR scan is out of date and provides little instruction on pasta making.

I made a first batch of flour + (water and egg) mix, machine start mixing the flour, and it is then only that you pour in your liquid mix through the slots. 3 minutes later, after a 3 seconds pause, machine starts again and the messy crumbly like mixture will come out of the machine. I got this as a Christmas gift from my son, we share a love of cooking. The machine is well made and produces excellent pasta and noodles. I have made ramen and spaghetti so far. My only criticism is the recipes, I have found better recipes on Pinterest especially when it comes to Asian noodles. I made my second batch of spaghetti using a predominantly semolina flour with bread flour and gluten was vastly different from the Phillips basic recipe. The texture chew and flavour of the semolina recipe was 5 star restaurant quality. The pasta maker really opened my eyes to the variations of pasta I can make. There are some additional features I think would be useful.1. Have a mix/knead only feature. Allow to knead the dough/mix the flour without the use of the scale where it doesn't extrude immediately afterwards but stops.2. Have a safety feature that allows the extruder to turn in the opposite direction. I've noticed it's only in the program, for example, if I've made my dough too dry, the extruder struggles. Adding the "reverse" extruder feature, combined with the first point, would enable me to add a little water and mix again to then extrude the pasta. It currently is a little tricky as I've had to struggle to take the dough out of the extruder after turning it off, to then re-weigh it ... MoreThe pasta maker really opened my eyes to the variations of pasta I can make. It currently is a little tricky as I've had to struggle to take the dough out of the extruder after turning it off, to then re-weigh it and put it back in, add a little water and try again.Overall, it gets the job done once all the ingredients are right. Weve made so many variations of pasta. We also use it to knead our bread dough which is great, it would be better to have a button for that so the extruder doesn't turn on immediately and it can knead for longer.
I never knew how much I could love a kitchen appliance until using this pasta maker. I have little kids and their absolute favorite food is pasta. I don’t know if I will ever purchase pasta from a store again! The pasta maker comes with an easy to follow instruction manual which includes photos for set up and use. I began by washing all of the removable pieces from the pasta maker and then reassembled it. After powering it on, I measured out my flour mixture (I used half semolina and half traditional flour). The machine was able to detect the amount of flour and then indicated to me the amount of fluid to add in. I used the included plastic measuring cup, cracked an egg inside and then filled the remaining amount with water. As if the whole ordeal wasn’t already ... MoreI never knew how much I could love a kitchen appliance until using this pasta maker. I have little kids and their absolute favorite food is pasta. The machine was able to detect the amount of flour and then indicated to me the amount of fluid to add in. I used the included plastic measuring cup, cracked an egg inside and then filled the remaining amount with water. As if the whole ordeal wasn’t already magical to begin with, after you press start, the machine then starts doing all the hard work and mixes and kneads the dough until it’s the perfect consistently. After that step is completed (only takes a few minutes) it then starts extracting the pasta. The pasta maker includes 8 attachments to make different types of pasta. It also includes an attachment holder that fits into the bottom of the machine for storage purposes. For some reason, it only holds 5 of the attachments though, so you will need to store the less frequently used ones elsewhere. The machine also includes a scraper and small brush/poker, which is specifically designed to be used on the angel hair pasta attachment when cleaning.Clean up was a breeze as well. All the removable pieces are dishwasher safe, but I noticed that the dough did not stick whatsoever to the pieces and it was also very simple to hand wash. The whole process, from start to finish was less than 20 minutes and couldn’t be more easy, even for a beginner like myself. I am looking forward to experimenting with different types of pasta and incorporating some healthier options into my families diet. My only wish was that it provided a bit more information on cooking times, as I had no idea how long to boil the pasta for and just used trial and error to find the best consistently. I definitely recommend this product!
I love this machine and i am very proficient at it now, but the learning curve was unnecessarily too high, i would bet that many users try it a few times and give up and never use it. It is hyper critical that you get the ratio of liquid to flour perfect for it to work trouble free. Your instructions are not good at all. This could be illustrated easily in a quick start card or QR code link, with a video. Stick to one unit of measure. . . . cup, ml, whatever. Your instructions are ambiguous and as someone who made pasta by hand i didn't realize how dry the mixture had to be until i watched some third party videos. You should have your own video that gets you started making a pound of egg pasta perfectly. All that said, I bought a second one for my summer home and i ... MoreI love this machine and i am very proficient at it now, but the learning curve was unnecessarily too high, i would bet that many users try it a few times and give up and never use it. Right out of the box this pasta maker was so easy to use. I've made pasta by hand and using another mixer type machine with pasta tools, but this is far and above much easier and quicker to use. The 10 disks that are included give you so many options on types of pastas and the mixing chamber allows for making various flavors with ease. The built-in scale and liquid identifier really simplifies the process. I am glad that I got the model that had this feature. I like to use eggs and flavor infused olive oils in my mix. It took a little adjusting but I was able to incorporate these into a good mix. Clean up is very easy. The disks are made with a non-stick material that makes cleaning a cinch. I have done it both ways and I suggest sifting for a more consistent mix. Again for some mixes you may have to adjust the liquid a bit but its just a matter of a few ml in my experience.
I had high hopes for this one, I normally will cut or stretch my noodles or if I wish uniformity, I will use my pasta roller but this takes a lot of space and is quite messy so when I saw the 7000/HR2660/00 with all the attachments, I thought I would give it a try.I read the instructions multiple times, watched the videos and even purchased a scale. I used a sharpie to clearly make the provided measuring cup just to be certain that I was following everything correctly, but it would turn out to be too dry and jam the machine. The illustration is useless, and the video is better but even mirroring the consistency, it would have difficulties pressing and would reverse. If I wish to adjust the moisture, I will have to run the cycle over again and it would seem to over work the dough and even though it produced a good end pasta, it would not properly load and I was constantly pausing the machine to manually feed the dough to the auger. In the end, I had to make my own measuring devices so I can achieve some sort of consistency.I would not recommend this model, Sometime later in time I will replace this with something I find more used friendly.
It was a Christmas gift from my sister. Since I already have KitchenAid’s pasta maker attachment at home, I haven’t used Philips’ pasta maker much. And it broke after only being used less than 10 times. I used a cup of flour at that time, and when the pasta just came out, I heard an unusual sound, and then it stopped spinning. The drive wheeler cracked. Since it was a gift, there was no receipt. I tried searching and found this part on ebay for about $10, but it was marked unbranded. I still feel more confident if I make it myself at Philips, so I contacted customer service and wanted to pay for the part myself. However, the customer service said that they do not provide parts for sale, and if any part breaks, the entire Maker will need to replaced.
Absolutely horrible. The dough sticks to the auger. There are no instructions on how to use this thing. The book does not include a recipe to ise all purpose flour. The liquid cup is in ml, and the book was is oz. I had high hopes for this machine and after 3 attempts, i took it apart and cleaned it, and its going back in the box. If the pasta is too wet it sticks everywhere....if its too dry it clogs the holes in the pasta disk. And all the extra parts dont even fit in the bottom.
