Philips Series 5000 SkinIQ Electric Shaver With Quick Clean Pod

A metal razor blade is the gold standard of close shaves. However, this Norelco 6600 is as close to a razor as I’ve experienced.and I is probably near the limit of what a hand held electric razor is capable of. I say this without having experienced what the most expensive electric razor on the market can do. Before owning this Norelco I had a foil type electric razor from a competitor. Research online suggested foil razors offer a closer shave. It my particular experience and with that single experienced manufacturer I was disappointed even after giving it 45 days to work out. The shaves are respectably close, the motor is uncommonly quiet, cleanup is incredibly easy and the battery is surprisingly long lasting in between charges. It’s hard to ask for anything more convenient.

This is my first electric shaver, so I didn’t have any expectations besides “Does it function properly?” And “Does it do what it claims?”….that’s it. I read the instructions while it was charging and always properly use, clean and store it sticking to shaving every other day so my skin would adjust to the shaver. I’ve had this for 2 months and 3 days and while it does shave most of my stubble it does not get all of it even after cleaning it once I’m done with a sedition of my face. First I thought, maybe I’m not using it properly on the unshaven part….but after keeping notes of the areas it’s not shaving I saw it’s not in the same areas. I tried going over the stubble once again it gets very little to nothing forcing me to use a razor to get what’s leftover. I bought this electric shaver to shorten my morning routine but some days it’s longer. For the price I paid, it makes it okay/alright. If I could pick one, replace the razors more frequently or leaving stubble and use a razor….I would rather buy the razor heads more frequently honestly.

Probably the best rotary shaver ever made. This model is akin to the old-style Norelco shavers of the 90s into the 2000s. Only with a modern look and feel. For a while, since 2015 or so I think, most Philips Norelco models had heads with two rows of blades and were somewhat open on the outside. I feel this was a mistake as skin could get caught in the open spaces. This model however has the blades completely enclosed by the comb with one row of blades. Like the old ones used to be. And believe me, one row of blades is fine. I get a great shave from this model. Philips Norelco reached the apex of electric shaving technology years ago with lift-and-cut blades, and they just keep improving. But the previous style of blades was not best for me. Speaking of lift-and-cut, that was not a meaningless marketing slogan. If the hairs were long enough you could actually feel them being plucked, ouch. Fortunately gone are the days of nickel-cadmium batteries taking 8 hours to charge and dry shaving only. This is the new era of electric shaving. The blades are self sharpening and most if not all models are now wet / dry. This model feels sturdy and solid with good weight. Fits well in the hand. And the motor is strong but not too loud. And the blades cut through stubble like it's not even there. I've used many norelco models through the years. But there's something about this one. It cuts cleaner, easier and faster. And it just feels better on my face, and in my hand. I shave in the shower with Nivea Men Sensitive gel, because I'm a sensitive guy. And if I'm in a hurry I shave dry. It's nice to have the option of either. This is the best Norelco so far, and it's not even the really expensive model.
