I have found the hair Clipper gives a nice close cut with a minimum of effort. It is lightweight, easy to hold and manoeuvre which ensures a tidy cut with minimal fuss. It also a good battery life of one charge, ideal for unplanned haircuts. My only drawback is that hair does accumulate under the cutting blade which needs frequent removal. Also when you clean the blade after a cut, not all the fine hair can be removed from within the blade mechanism which can be frustrating.

I have owned a succession of hair clippers, some corded, some cordless, various brands including Philips. None have really 'cut the mustard'. All seemed to be toys compared with the tools that professional barbers use. My last, a corded heavyweight item, was temperamental and finally failed completely. Reluctantly tried once more, this good-looking Philips unit, and couldn't be more delighted - it's a revelation in use. Easy to set cutting length, it cuts to the right length in one go, no need for multiple passes. And the cut hair falls away, doesn't clog the blades or combs. Brilliant design.

After reading a poor review due to the different shape of these clippers, I was apprehensive on purchasing but have not regretted buying. I find the clipper shape is great when cutting hair and no issues when trimming beard either. Cutting is clean and thorough with no snagging like my old cheap clippers. Self sharpening is great and super easy to remove parts for thorough cleaning. Cordless clipping is great, not having to cut hair close to power point and after many years IF the battery gives up then I can still use clipper on power cord. By far the best feature is built in comb depth guide. The short comb stays on the clippers and I just adjust between 3 for Beard and 6 for hair! Perfect! I’ve been clipping my own hair and beard for 20 years, so I’ve been through a ton of trimmers. This one is a game changer. Not only does it cut my hair clipping time in half, it does a much more thorough job. And in the past I’ve always had to “dig in” so hard that it would drive little hairs into my scalp and cause sores. But this clipper has a feather touch. You barely have to press at all for it to give a clean cut.And the adjustable guards are the best ever. You can use one guard for a wide range of lengths with the turn of a dial. It’s just the best I’ve ever used in my life by a very wide margin. I will NEVER use another clipper/trimmer for the rest of my life. They’ve made a forever customer out of me for sure! Finely adjustable trimmer suitable for trimming any length of hair, and the usual great Philips quality. My only caviat to the above recommendation, is that the trimmer comes with basic instructions, with more detailed instructions only available online. I mention this as, like most men, I rarely read instructions, and initially assumed the smallest comb was for the shortest trim. That was true, but not in the way I thought. Using the smallest comb cut my hair really short, and no amount of turning the wheel on the trimmer had any effect on the comb. The smallest comb gives you a really close cut of .5mm length only. That lasted for about a year before it started to rip my hair out from the scalp. With this product, although I've only had 2 haircuts with it, everything seems more effortless. The clippers zip though your hair as if it wasn't even there. To charge you simply plug the cable in to the base of the clippers and into the socket. You will notice a green light flashing to let you know it is charging correctly. After around an hour, the light stopped flashing to show they are fully charged and ready to go! These are a small booklet with pictures showing you what to do. I found that these did not give me all of the answers I wished to know so this did make the initial process slower. The clippers are quite smart looking with that modern touch to them. The on / off button is very easy to press and I found holding the clippers very comfortable. Being extremely lightweight was also a huge bonus to these, both for using and for travel. I actually tried out each of the combs, starting with the long hair one but ended up needing the shorter comb. These are so easy to change over by gently pulling out the comb from the clippers and slotting in the desired one you want. The zoom wheel where you select the length is in a perfect place for you to use. You can turn this with your thumb and I like the fact that you can help to control the wheel from the back also with your finger, making it really easy to turn. Also I noticed that these were not that loud when in use so I could still listen to my music at the same time! I certainly got to try out all of the features as my hair is quite thick so on went the turbo mode which sped things up a fair bit. These clippers are quite powerful so do make sure you have the correct setting on as they do not take long at all to give you a fast and even hair cut which I was very pleased with! I have a few days a stubble which I like to keep trimmed and as this set comes with a 2 mm comb for stubble / beards, I gave this a go! Again, so easy to change over the combs and soon I was looking smart with my nicely trimmed even stubble and hair cut. I had no issues with pulling hair or catching my skin throughout all of this and the blades did not clog once! Loving the way you can just take all of the pieces and run them under a tap for cleaning! When I first took off the main base of the clippers I found there was a fair amount of hair in there which easily came out when rinsed. I let this all dry and attempted to put the silver base back on but found this really fiddly the first time with one side clipping in but not the other. The next time I tried this I had no issues at all so maybe I was doing it incorrectly, I'm not sure. These seem quite robust so I think they will last me quite a while, especially as they are self sharpening so no blunt blades. All in all, I thoroughly recommend these to anyone who likes to trim their own hair or beard themselves as it is so easy to use and to keep up the maintenance on them.
Bought this product to replace the more expensive £100 model (which they wouldn’t / couldn’t repair) so based on the lower cost I thought I’d buy another Philips model. They have a misleading description that claims you can cut from 28 length settings (0.5–28 mm) this is totally misleading the consumer.What they don’t tell you is that you cannot cut the cutting lengths of 1mm and 1.5mm, x2 of the most popular cutting lengths. I don’t know what product misses these key cutting lengths but it makes these set of clippers utterly useless. They should put a warning on the description
I recently purchased a Philips Series 5000 clipper after my Braun clipper stopped working in the first year. The Series 5000 is a superior product that quickly grooms my beard with precision and shaves my head with ease. After each use, I can quickly clean my clipper under hot running water. Another great feature is how long this clipper holds a charge!! I highly recommend this product for your next Mens grooming clipper.
