Anyone thinking about getting the Phillips Lumea Do it. I have pcos and have tried all kinds of things over the years and nothing has ever helped. I got mine using the Phillips try and buy scheme. Which has allowed me to buy this and is more affordable to me to pay it monthly. Not to mention if you are not happy you can cancel and return it. I doubt you will be dissatisfied though. I have just done my third treatment and there was hardly any hair to remove before my treatment and I haven’t shaved for two weeks. I’ve used it on my lip and chin. My arms legs tummy and underarms. I never write reviews but felt I needed to for this as I trawled through reviews for weeks trying to decide if I should go for it or not.I was sceptical at the start and didn't think it would work but took the plunge anyway as I was so sick of shaving every day resulting in shaving rash, ingrown hairs and itchiness, especially on my bikini area.I have quite pale skin and very light brown hair on my legs and underarms and dark hair on my bikini area. The hairs on my legs were definitely growing slower and finer.I have just finished my 4th session and I genuinely don't need to shave anywhere at all!! There are maybe one or two hairs on my bikini area but that's because I've missed them when using the lumea so i just need to go back over them.I'm absolutely shocked, I really didn't think it would work, never mind to the point I feel like I could throw my razor away and never use one again. It takes a while to do everywhere but it's so worth the effort.I used it on setting 4 as that was what the skin sensor suggested for my skin. It was mostly painless, however there were a few times when it felt like i was being twanged with an elastic band. But it wasn't bad enough to say it was painful. The lumea can get quite hot though so half way through I'd switch it off for a while to let it cool down as it was more comfortable to use.I've recommended this to all of my friends and family and I'm so happy I never have to shave or wax again and just have to top up with the lumea once a month. My other half has just started using it on a patch of hair on his stomach he wants rid of after seeing how well it's worked for me.Absolute game changer.

I was sceptical i must admit and only invested the not insignificant amount for the Lumea after a trusted friend with similar colourings recommended it to me. My husband and i have been using it for just over six weeks and we are both stunned by the results. My underarm and leg hairs are barely there, so smooth. I used to shave my legs every day as they were so fast growing, this is a massive change, love it. As for my bikini line i understand that these hairs are tougher and will take longer to fall away but even so there is a very marked difference with patches that are almost bare now. The app is really useful in reminding us both when our next session is and i would not hesitate to recommend this machine to anyone looking for smooth hastel free skin. So easy to use with the choice of cord or cordless. Cordless it’s great on the under arms and face.I use the power cable on my legs so I can take my time and not miss any areas. I started using it in late December and my legs are now hair free I use setting 5 for legs and only feel a slight tingle on the ankle area, so pleased with the results. My underarms are doing great I just have one or two stubborn hairs left I used setting 4 to start but soon managed 5. I use setting 4 on my upper lip progressing along nicely. I always have a shower before I use so there are no moisturiser on my skin and I moisturise after treatment. ( I have dark brown hair and Beige skin.) I will soon be on the maintenance plan. Phillips have very helpfully videos that I watched with helpful tips. I set aside time to do my legs, underarms and upper lip the first session took the longest but now am all done in less than an hour. So so much better than waxing. I love the bag that came with the IPL everything fits in nicely just pop the head in first push handle to the bottom put heads in there little pocket and the cable on top perfect.
I was considering paying for a course of laser hair removal in a salon but confiding the difference in price I decided to give the lumea ipl a go. I am just under 2 months in and have no hair growth in between the 2 week treatments now. Before, i would shave my legs and the very next day they were stubbley and spiky to touch. Now, smooth and soft. I am blown away by my results, I have been using it on level 4 every 2 week and I am following the instructions to the letter. Best money spent in a long while. It is quite an investment but if hair has been a problem for you in the past then this really does work. I highly recommend it. Add up how much time and money you spend in a year, waxing, hair removal cream and razors and this is not as expensive as you think.
I am very happy with this purchase. Yes, it is expensive, but it does work! It is simple to use, the app is very helpful, the treatment has a good level of comfort and, more important it is pretty efficient. Now, to be more precise, I have a fair skin tone and quite dark and thick hair, which is the ideal combination for a more effective treatment. I cannot say how it goes for other skin-hair combinations. I have only used it for half-leg and armpits, but it is so effective and easy that I may try other body parts. My only complaints would be about the price and the fact that it dens come with any eye protection. For some reason, they send it with a mini electric razor, for which I would find no use. Eye protection instead would be a more appropriate accessory..
I gave 2 stars because it does something, not as much as they promise though. I have less hairs and they grow a bit slower but I am quite disappointed as I've definitely used it for a while and I still have to shave every couple of days. I use it on the 4th setting, my hair is dark, yet for some reason it's not delivering the promised results. My 2nd big issue is the device getting so heated that it's burning my skin. Bare in mind that I do 2 stripes of half leg, I can't do a 3rd stripe under no circumstance without letting it cool down for 10 minutes at least. I sent the first device back thinking it's faulty but the 2nd one is the same. I tried using the 3rd setting as well but I can barely see any results and it still burns my skin.P.S.: my skin is not sensitive.
Bought it as Philips offered a 100 day money back guarantee, so I could try it with no risk.I couldn't find many reviews that discussed whether the product worked with different hair colour, so this is my review.Legs and toes: I have shaved my legs for 40+ years, with dark thicker hair that was stubbly again within a day of shaving. No stubble, amazing!Underarms: sparse light brown medium coarse hair which disappeared after 1 treatmentBikini line: 1 treatment saw a huge improvement and problem areas resolved after 2 treatmentsFace: Having suffered with PCOS I have noticeable facial hair, which is a mix of colours; dark (wiry), blonde (fine), white (wiry). After 2 treatments my upper lip had very little re-growth. I had no white hairs there and it seems to have worked on the finer blond hairs and almost every dark hair after 5 treatments. The blonde hairs on my face have gone, but the very wiry dark and white hairs are still present. I will persevere as I think the number of dark hairs is slowly reducing and possibly getting less wiry, but there is no effect whatsoever on white hairs (which I was expecting as per Philip's guidance). After one treatment a number of dark ingrown hairs on my chin started to grow normally which was a bonus. I also have very fine peach fuzz (blonde/almost white) which seems to be improved, but the jury is out on this as I have never treated it before, so it might just be a slow grower. Conclusion - an amazing device, worth the money and I feel more feminine without hairy legs, toes and stubble. Easy to use but you do have to set time aside (takes me about 70 minutes to do half leg, underarm, bikini and face). You also need to stick to a schedule, if you miss a treatment the instructions say you must start again.
Over the years I’ve tried everything from shaving and waxing to epilating and no matter have often I scrubbed my skin and exfoliated I’ve always suffered from bad ingrown hairs. So around 5 years ago I went to get laser done to my underarms and bikini area due to a recommendation by my GP to help reduce the ingrown hairs. Although the laser was good I found that I struggled to fit travelling to and from the clinics regularly around my on the go lifestyle, and I would constantly miss or have to rearrange my bookings, this prompted me to start thinking that this is just something I will have to live with forever and I then gave up on the laser. After hearing about this product from a friend I decided I wanted to give it another shot and not give up on the hope that ... MoreOver the years I’ve tried everything from shaving and waxing to epilating and no matter have often I scrubbed my skin and exfoliated I’ve always suffered from bad ingrown hairs. I’m delighted to say, it really has helped! Having this product which is easy to travel with and pack in my bags or suitcases means that I don’t have to worry about making appointments and factor in the travel time anymore, I can do it at home or away on my trips; I’ve noticed a considerable loss of hair over my legs, underarms, bikinis and my upper lip but I have also (touch wood) had a huge reduction of ingrown hairs too! By keeping up the regular and consistent use of my laser the hairs are a lot thinner and there’s quite large areas that have almost stopped growing hairs completely. I’m extremely happy and impressed with the product and I’m glad to not be spending £150+ every 4 weeks on appointments that were hard to get to, and I’d never go back!
I bought my Philips Lumea IPL 9000 series in December and started my treatments around 9 January. I do treatments weekly, rather than the recommended fortnightly. I didn’t notice much of a difference for the first 3 or 4 treatments, but now that I’ve been doing it for about 7 weeks it’s made a massive difference. I have had IPL treatments in the salon before and also owned a Tria IPL machine. Salon treatments are stronger, so work faster, but the benefit of having your own at-home device is that you can do IPL in multiple places on your body without it costing more, plus you can do it when it’s convenient for you. Salon treatments are stronger, so work faster, but the benefit of having your own at-home device is that you can do IPL in multiple places on your body without it costing more, plus you can do it when it’s convenient for you. I was happy with my Tria, but then it developed a fault after about 18 months (I think) and so I didn’t use it. Then after a while it wouldn’t work at all. Recently, I tried to get it working again. Tria suggested a couple of things, but it didn’t help. Not impressed with the longevity of the Tria one, I bought this Philips machine - the reviews were good and I liked the idea of having a cordless device. However, the battery doesn’t last that long, so don’t worry too much about getting a cordless one. I mostly use mine plugged in. Also, don’t worry about all the attachments - mine has four, but I mostly use the one biggest one. Just like the Tria, it is very easy to use. I probably prefer the look of the Philips one. The best thing about it is the results - I got it because being a lady of a certain age, I started to get chin and upper lip hairs! And I have really dark hair, so very noticeable. I was shaving and plucking twice a day and it was irritating my skin. Thankfully, this has been a Godsend! I don’t have much hair elsewhere due to previous IPL treatments, but some hairs had started to grow back (around knees, odd ones on the armpits, a few dark hairs on the arms, etc), so this has been great for that too. Based on my experience, I thoroughly recommend it. I just hope it lasts longer than my Tria!
