Meddle is Pink Floyds sixth studio album, released in 1971. It was produced between the band's touring commitments, from January to August 1971. The album was recorded at a series of locations around London, including Abbey Road Studios and Morgan Studios. With no material to work with and no clear idea of the album's direction, the group devised a series of novel experiments which eventually inspired the album's signature track, "Echoes". Although many of the band's later albums would be unified by a central theme with lyrics written mainly by Roger Waters, Meddle was a group effort with lyrical contributions from each member, and is considered a transitional album between the Syd Barrett-influenced group of the late 1960s and the emerging Pink Floyd. The cover, incorporating a close-up shot of an ear underwater was, as with several previous albums, designed by Hipgnosis.

The only criticism I have and, this is for the purists, is that the centre label is not the same as the copy I bought in the early 70's. The platter is very heavy in comparison to that earlier version, and since I do not have the original anymore cannot compare the quality of play with this being a remastered version. Saying that if you are into vinyl and Pink Floyd, this is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a great album.

This was sheer perfection! After listening to this LP in CD format over the past few decades, I was not prepared to be blown away with the audio quality of the mastered LP version! Absolute perfection! Love this LP on so many levels...

I have loved this album since I first heard it in the 80s. I had it on tape, CD and when I heard it had been remastered and pressed on 180g vinyl I jumped for it. I bought my first record deck in 30 years and have started getting key albums, this is one. Sounds amazing and cannot recommend highly enough.

I have the original, and this, and the sound quality on the new release is far superior. Fantastic, rich mid tones the original just doesn't capture well enough (technology of the age I imagine) I'd advise against buying original releases over the net. It's a mine field, and you don't usually get what you want, unless you're there in person testing the record. Don't believe a purists who sticks his nose up in the air. Vinyl degrades over time (second law of thermodynamics), and especially after repeated playing. It's scientifically impossible for an 40yr old, original analogue release to sound better than a 3 month old, digitally remastered, brand new vinyl (if done well)

The remastering is good. And the printing of the cover is really good too. Although both the band and the creator of the cover felt it was a visual failure. (It's supposed to be an ear underwater hearing echo waves. meh.)Is it better sonically than the CD? No. Are you collecting Pink Floyd vinyl just because you want to? Then buy it.The album does sound excellent but unless you are collecting vinyl because you enjoy its ambiance and retro aspect the CD will do you fine.And this album is priced nicely. Great album, so not going to talk about the music. I love these 2016 reissues, packaging very similar to the original and quality of the actual remaster is great, a very warm vinyl sound. My only gripe is a bit if crackle and popping on the quite parts of Echo. But it doesn't take away from a great product. Highly recommended if you dont already have a copy of this or to save on wearing out your original, because after all, it's a great album and needs to be played a lot.

Pretty good, some tics/poison first playing even though I cleaned it first. Quiet surface, nice to have the import cover. A tad bass-forward, but more fun that distracting. Glad I bought it.
Bought 2 after 1st had grinding sound on side 2. It is unlistenable. Bad batch of pressings. Side one fine. 2nd had same issue. Avoid.
This was a superb album in its day, but now remastered and played on any half-way decent system it is even more of a must have for any prog rock collector. And don't just play 'echoes', re-appraise the whole album and remember just how good some prog rock was. Dark Side next I think...
