Shine on you, crazy diamond. Indeed, Pink Floyd's 1975 masterwork Wish You Were Here continues to resonate with a sparkling luminance and poignant emotionalism decades after its original release. Teeming with stunning dynamics, an immense front-to-back soundstage, newly uncovered details, balanced transients, and tube-amplifier warmth, this dead-quiet LP will have you truly hearing this all-time classic with fresh ears. Just wait until you hear the atmospheric surroundings on the title track. It's just one example of this pressing's magnificence. Every song on the record has attained iconic status. The suite "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" stands as a tribute to founding group member Syd Barrett. The title track remains a heart-stopping hymn to loneliness, absence, and love. "Welcome to the Machine" riffs on the future and isolation. And "Have a Cigar" registers as one of the most caustic, humorous indictments of the music industry ever made. All of the music is performed with a delicate perfectionism and enviable tranquility. Guitarist David Gilmour taps into a bluesy aesthetic and fireplace warmth on the slower material, and vocally, channels a melancholic spirit and somber stateliness that reflect the record's conflicting themes. Ranked No. 209 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, Wish You Were Here needs to be experienced via this pressing!

I ended up sending this album back (Walmart, being Walmart, took it back without blinking) because it had a bad skip and a couple of pops. I am going to order another one. But if you pay that much for a vinyl record you should expect perfection.I have owned a version of this album since 1979. I was never pleased with the muffled sound. The album itself, musically, is a masterpiece. This review is for the sonic quality of the record. This pressing and remastering gets it right. I don't yet own the remastered CD but this vinyl has my previously issued CD beat. As well as it holding superior sound to all the other vinyl issues I have purchased. The packaging is really good with bright reprints. It has a post card instead of the usual stickers.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Somehow I did not have a copy of this on vinyl. I own several pressings of DSOTM but this would be my first "Wish You Were Here" I never got to listen to this. There is a big glob of glue that destroys the ability to listen to this record. It is not listenable when an entire track is covered in glue. I take superb care of my vinyl. Each disk gets cleaned with my VPI 16.5 RCM and goes into a MFSL sleeve before even being played. This disk was opened inspected and then returned. This was a factory sealed defect which means someone at the pressing plant put this defective record in the jacket. Where ever these are pressed I give an "F" for quality on the 2016 pressing.

Purchased approx 3 months ago. This is the one to get, remastered from the original analogue tapes and easily one of my favourite things on vinyl.I was smiling from ear to ear after I had the pleasure of listening to this.I had no idea that this album (and other Floyd Albums as I subsequently discovered) were not just about the songs/tracks, but also about the complete trip from start to finish. The little stereo imaging tricks at the start and end of tracks really sets the mood, and to hear everything without surface noise, clicks and pops was a revelation!Hearing Dave Gilmour cough and clear his throat at the start of “Wish you were here” clear as day as if he was actually sitting on a stool in my lounge room waiting to play really set the hair on the back ... MorePurchased approx 3 months ago. The sound of the copy of "Wish You Were Here" that I received is very good. A nice sound stage and clarity, but still a tad muted when compared to the remaster of "Dark Side of the Moon." The vinyl is nice and quite and the record itself is nice and flat. The the cover and inner sleeve are of good quality. It seems the true mastering info is impossible to find on these Pink Floyd remasters. Was there or wasn't there a digital transfer between the tapes and the pressing? Still great music and a good buy.
Product arrived as described. Cannot rave enough about Pink Floyd and Pulse is certainly up there in terms of favorite albums. after dark side the wall and momentary lapse of reason. I have a very resolving system and this album is wonderful
Classic Pink Floyd! Great Vinyl LPIt is remastered on 180 grain. Has a black cover with the original album art.Great to listen straight through! Excellent Classic Rock!
This remaster version is absolutely amazing. The album first of all is one of the best from Pink Floyd. The quality of sound is truly unmatched. Very happy with the record. I read some reviews online before I purchased because there are a lot of version of this album out there. The reviews claim this is a good version and they were correct. Extremely happy with the purchase. Also found that Best Buy has good prices on their albums and seems to have a wide variety.
I love vinyl's, I love music, and this album is one of the best out there. There's a reason why Pink Floyd is still one of the best even though these songs came out almost 50 years ago. If you love music, this band should be one in your collection and the price that Best Buy had it was great.
Easily one of Pink Floyd's best albums. This remaster looks and sounds great. I saw Pink Floyd perform this album along with Animals during thier "In The Flesh" tour in 1977. The package comes covered in dark plastic with the Wish you were here round sticker attached to the front. I remember opening my original copy in 1975. Back then the album appeared to be just a dark blue cover, the artwork was only revealed when you ripped off the blue shrink wrap. It was startling because it was unexpected, just like the music on the record. With this copy I've decided to keep the black plastic cover and sticker intact by carefully slicing the opening to access the record. You can't go wrong with this album.
There's no need to critique the musical content on this album. It's Pink Floyd. If you didn't like them you wouldn't be reading this. The music is just as incredible as it was in 1975.This re-release is a very fitting tribute to the content on it. The vinyl is heavy, extremely well pressed, and gorgeous. It sounds velvet smooth, the highs are bright, lows are tight. It is simply pleasing, and stunning, to listen to. Turn the lights low and leave the cell phone in the other room. Close your eyes, relax, listen closely and enjoy. The jacket and sleeve are faithful reproductions of the original release. Even the post card is included. If you love Floyd, and have re-discovered the beauty of vinyl...or even if you're just now starting into vinyl...you must buy this ... MoreThere's no need to critique the musical content on this album.
