A Decent Headset

I am by no means a headset aficionado and I do not make phone calls too often. I purchased this headset because I find that the earpieces on cell phones tend to emit high frequency sound with a piercing intensity that sometimes hurts my ears. I do not have this problem with this headset. So, I'm happy. The reason I did not give it 5 start is that the headband is a bit too circular. I think a more parabolic shape would fit my head. This is a bit problematic because it causes the earpieces to bend at their maximum angle in order to cover my hears. If the headband was more parabolic in shape, this wouldn't happen. Note that this is more of an observance than an annoyance. I haven't actually experienced a problem wearing them.

I really wanted to like this headset. I had reviewed many; jabra/poly/plantronics/logitech and others. I was looking for something that would switch seamlessly from computer to cell (iPhone) and hopefully also to my personal cell (also iPhone). This can pair with multiple but only connect with two at a time. Unfortunate, but ok, I can deal with two.Except, it doesn't work well with the two. If I'm listening to music on my cell, take a call, end the call (all on the 4220), the music won't play. The progress bar moves as if the music is playing, but no audio. Switch to speaker and it's playing fine, back to 4220 and no audio. To get audio in music I have to "forget this device" and then reconnect and it works. Does this with every call. The Plantronics app doesn't seem to have any settings to resolve this. iPhones, computers all patched and up to date. Same with the headset, I looked for firmware update and it's the latest. So ya, sadly, I can't say this is worth it. The quality is a disappointment and I'll likely go back to my AirPods, which have their own issues.Fit is ok, but they're fairly heavy and you notice it when turning your head. Maybe this is normal but I've had other stereo headsets that didn't have this noticeable weight.

I'm returning it. Major design flaw: When the unit goes "on mute" during a call, it will not come "off mute" without powering off and and reconnecting the USB dongle. Poly Tech Support was NO help. Recommendation was to install yet another piece of software to see IF it would resolve the issue. I've used products from other manufacturers that did not require additional software to be installed. I expect a headset to simply work, out of the box. And when I said I wanted to return it, the first response was "we don't do returns." That was the wrong answer. After further discussion, Poly IS accepting my return and will give me a refund. But the process - with multiple "tickets" is far more difficult than it should be.

Fantastic. A worthwhile investment

Yesterday I got online and purchased the VOYAGER 4210 UC, USB-A, I had looked at so many different brands and styles. So I decided on this particular model reason being is that to charge it you plug a USB cable directly into the headset so no base stations taking up precious space, it had all the features needed for a work from home headset but it is professional quality. The company I bought from must have sent it straight away because it arrived an hour ago giving me some time to test it out. I have found fit wise it sits very securely on the head with no woggle or slippage. when it comes to sound I have found it cancels out noise brilliantly and sounds fairly clear. Great On-Ear Sound

Great cheaper alternative to the Focus

Voyager 4200As a long term users of the Voyager Focus and I’ve since dished out hundreds when building contact centres and new office’s I was very interested to see what the 4200 was like. It’s a great budget Bluetooth headset, while not as polished as the focus as it lacks some of the build and sound quality, it’s still a very good headset. I had some comments to say the boom was a little intrusive compared to the shorter boom on the Voyager. As a bonus I would say the earpads are more comfy than the focus, so long term use won’t be an issue.I highly recommend this headset if you want a good budget Bluetooth unit with the trademark Plantronics build quality on it.If you’re planning on rolling this headset out I would highly suggest you also purchase ... MoreVoyager 4200As a long term users of the Voyager Focus and I’ve since dished out hundreds when building contact centres and new office’s I was very interested to see what the 4200 was like. The build quality is great, and sound is as good as you can get from a monaural unit. I had a user on our main contact centre who didn’t like using binaural units as they found them uncomfortable, and often had to keep one ear on the office as well as the caller on the phone. They’ve found this headset a fantastic option and are a very happy customer. If you have a customer who insists on a monaural headset then I highly recommend this one as you won’t find anything better.

Great headset with one caveat
28 July 2019

The Voyager 4200 UC is a Bluetooth headset that has some great sound from lows to highs. I do notice that music with heavy distortion or edm with alot of tracks in it seems to.muddy up the sounds some. The headset band is durable similarly to the headset band on their gaming RIG lime of headphones. I have a concern I regards to the swivels or pivots next to the earphones as these tend to be a typical breaking point on most other headsets. This concern has not been verified to happen on the headset I received. The headset does suffer lag outside of calling and music. So if you plan to use this for any gaming, it is best you hit up the RIG line. I tested the mic and the people I called knew I was on a Bluetooth. Incredible sound quality!

Charge time out of the box was about an hour. From low battery warning, it was about two hours. Between music, phone and standby in my regular usage, I get around 18 hours between charges. The controls are logical and function very well. The pause function even works across many apps. The sound quality for music is amazing. It rivals vintage audio equipment, something I did not think possible with Bluetooth. I have a Sansui AU9500 amp and Koss Pro 4 headphones, and they sound nearly identical. The highs are crisp and the bass is warm and full. I can almost feel the bass! I have certain songs across many formats that I use for testing (mp3, mp4, live feed, YouTube) and on first listening, I got chills. I never expected it from Bluetooth headsets. Sirius/XM and Pandora sound nearly CD quality. Very impressive!I work in a manufacturing environment, producing engines for the trucking industry, and it can get quite loud. The earpieces blocked just enough noise to enjoy the music, but let through enough to be safe. Phone calls at work were very clear both for me and the caller. The people on the other end heard little to no background noise. The controls are logical and function well with many apps. The only thing that could be better is moving the mic boom to the left ear. It's just a matter of preference, but I'm used to a left ear mic boom.

In theory it shouldn’t make a difference, you would want to stop the music anyways doing a call, but the difference in quality is pretty jarring, I thought something broke at first.Other than that though, I can’t find any problems. Set-up is fast and straightforward, audio quality is superb, they are very lightweight and comfortable to wear for hours while working, I usually forget their even on. And the noise cancelling is great.

I assumed after I'd tested the headphones and mic that I could simply use them the next day in a meeting. when I first began to talk in a 7 hour online meeting, I I was told I could not be heard and was dropping out. As I didn't have time to fiddle, I had to rely on my camera mic for the day. Apart from the unreadable 4 font instructions, which don't mention that I will probably need to adjust the volume and don't tell you how to do that anyway. Now I've had to google and hope that by going into sound settings I can simply change the default volume so they work - otherwise I've just wasted a lot of money on dud headphones and mic.
