Cost makes sense for the upgrade of tech

Look at it this way. The PS5 cost $649.99 before tax with the disc drive in Canada + 850GB of onboard storage. To upgrade to an additional 2TB HDD you would pay anywhere from 175 - 300 dollars based on brand preference and quality of HDD. That brings the ps5 cost to at max $949.99 before taxes. This console vs a pc is an upgrade to what would be equivalent to a 3070 from a 2070. That card price alone in real world money is another $800+ dollars in upgrade cost if it were a PC Upgrade. If you already have a PS5, you can flip it to recover some of the cost you spent on the Pro.I believe game stop is offering $345 trade in towards a pro. If you are still on a PS4. Then i guess you have a decision to make. In the end I will only pay $600 (maybe less) for this ... MoreLook at it this way. Excellent upgrade from PS5 for those people that want higher frame rates and better visual quality. Definitely worth it if you are one of those folks like me. Value wise much better than a high end PC which would cost you a lot more to match what you get with the pro. And that’s assessments from many informed third parties. Plus PC and has its own inherent complexities that I’m tired of. Got mine pre-ordered. Looking forward to it.Looking at all the previews from third parties it’s pretty much a generational leap when you look at frame rate and graphics quality. If higher frame rates and greater visual quality are not your thing, stick with the base PS5, which is still excellent,

People complain about the price and well yes its very expensive. but I and most of all of you paid way over the asking price for a ps5 when it came out. I waited a year and still had to buy one from a scalper.Sony knows that most of us were willing to pay more then the asking price at that time. This gives them leverage knowing that most of us will pay this. plus it looks really good.

People complain, somewhat understandably, but we're paying for improved GPU/etc. and 2TB.Thinking about it logically, it's a fair deal.If you really think about it, as lackluster as it may seem, for not being "better", with more...It'll only keep improving with system updates, game updates, and new games.Possibly with add-on specs to replace internally in the future.I personally am looking forward to playing practically everything on 4k/60fps, with everything faster. That includes the great remasters/remakes, with more to come, and new games alike!... I never liked the new design, and hate these stripes even more, but oh well. One day, I'll customize my covers with whatever slick color I want that comes out later.I personally went digital years ago anyway, ... MorePeople complain, somewhat understandably, but we're paying for improved GPU/etc. and 2TB.Thinking about it logically, it's a fair deal.If you really think about it, as lackluster as it may seem, for not being "better", with more...It'll only keep improving with system updates, game updates, and new games.Possibly with add-on specs to replace internally in the future.I personally am looking forward to playing practically everything on 4k/60fps, with everything faster. That includes the great remasters/remakes, with more to come, and new games alike!... If you have a ps5 already. Don't go for the upgrade unless you can exchange your old one and get some money back. Iam buying this so you don't have to. I make content so I definitely will be comparing it and really diving into the question. Whether you should get it or not. For this price point you won't be able to build a pc that can output 4k ray tracing. So please don't slander with get a pc. With the gpu alone. You are looking at almost 700 alone. Then it depends on the storage and cooling options you choose. Bottom line. It's not about being a fan boy or not. If you wanna game 4k ray trace at 60fps. Then go for the pro upgrade. If you are happy with your ps5 and don't mind to switch to 30fps occasionally. You're good. But you can't tell people of just get a pc. ... MoreIf you have a ps5 already. Ignore the haters

First off I would like to say this wont be for everyone. The playstation pro series has only been for the gamers who want the best tech for console gaming. Yes the PS5 is still a great console! Now the PS5 Pro is even better. It makes it so you get steady 60 FPS in a higher fidelity mode so you no longer need to choose between performance or high fidelity. Honestly the price is completely fair for what your getting. People don't realize how big of a jump in performance it truly is. And no you can not build a PC that will perform the same as the PS5 pro for the same price. Plus you need to factor inflation over the years. Don't listen to all of the haters. The pro wasn't designed to be better for the same price of the PS5. Also the PS6 is going to be expensive to. ... MoreFirst off I would like to say this wont be for everyone. Anyone saying it's overpriced doesnt know about inflation and terrifs. Post covid everything went up 30-40%For the pro now, it has standard 2TB SSD, the standard on has 1tb. The pro comes with a way better GPU and some nice upscale features. It was purchased for 500 bucks, now high end GPUs are 1500-2750. Cost of things to up. It is what it is. The PS3 was expensive at time of release....it sold great. Not good value from Sony
30 September 2024

Ultimately I am very disappointed in the overall value for the PS5 Pro, Also I feel sony not including a disc drive was a big mistake. I would of considered this more if there was a disc drive included. All my PS5/PS4 games are on physical media. It may be a powerful console. But I will pass on this . The cost of 1378 $ and then a potential 160 $+ for a disc drive if you can find one for sale. Is just too much

Overpriced and Overhyped
30 September 2024

Honestly, overpriced for marginal gains in performance. A savvy PC builder can build an equal performing PC for the same price or slightly less. And with 95% of games being ported to PC, choice is obvious. Enjoy your few exclusives for 50% more the cost.

Price not the same as Xbox Series X 2TB Console
25 September 2024

Both consoles should have the same price as $799.99, instead Sony has a $160 difference with Microsoft. The PS5 Pro has no disc drive, which has an additional cost. Though exclusive titles remain important. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Halo Infinite are Xbox only, while Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Gran Turismo 7 are PlayStation only. Both consoles have 2TB SSD and many other similar specs. I would give it 5 stars had the PS5 Pro been the same price as XBOX Series X - Galaxy Black 2TB Special Edition.
