A little pricey but a great helmet.

Light yet durable. I don’t really think about it on my head when riding. Good ventilation. Im between sizes and went with the larger size. I wish they had 4 size options rather than 3.There is a height adjustment (in addition to the knob that tightens it) in the back but it’s difficult to access and change. Also the instructions don’t mention this adjustability. The helmet wouldn’t fit me comfortably without making this adjustment. The crash replacement (discount on purchasing a new one) policy is good and their customer service responds quickly.

Brilliant!

Absolutely brilliant helmet design, fit, function, and appearance. Comes with spare padding! Comes with a storage bag to protect that silky mat finish. I've used mainly Giro throughout my 30 years of riding. This thing puts to rest any Giro I've ever had.The visor adjustment actually makes me giddy. The visor is infinitely adjustable on a micro rail system with adjuster knob (very nice!).This Piece Of Cake takes the cake.

Fit issues around the temples

This is a good looking helmet, with a great build quality. It's light and well ventilated for long rides on the saddle.Unfortunately, I too had an issue with the fit. I am on the upper end of a M/L based on their recommended measurements, but there is a noticeable high pressure area at the temples. I would recommend trying out the helmet if you can before buying, if you can find it locally.

Fit's weird
2 July 2020

I bought an octal and a tectal at the same time in the same medium size. The octal fits awesome and is amazing. Love the design of the helmet. The tectal is easily a size larger and just doesn't fit right. I've been riding Smith helmets forever and the medium fits me perfect. Not sure if sizing down would solve my problem or not, but I'd try some on before you buy one. That's not to say the helmet isn't well made. If it fit I'm sure I'd enjoy it. One gripe is the padding on the inside is stuck on by velcro. This is fine but glue on the velcro is terrible so I'm hoping this lasts on the octal.

I Have a Problem
31 October 2019

But not with this helmet. My problem is that I can't seem to resist buying helmets. I actually have two Tectal helmets currently. I also have 5 other POC helmets. As well as countless helmets from other brands (all of which are currently collecting dust in a closet). My point of this isn't to break my arm patting myself on the back as an owner of many helmets, but instead to drive home the fact that I've been around the helmet block a few times, and my opinion, there is no better all-around MTB helmet than the Tectal. Enough coverage, but not too much, I always feel like I'm covered in a crash. The visor is just the right length, with enough adjustability to get low when you're racing the sunset (or sunrise), and high enough to get out of the way on the steeps. The quality of the construction is second to none. My first Tectal has been around since the introduction of the model, and it still looks new. And while helmet fit is certainly subjective, the Tectal has enough adjustment to find that perfect fit.To sum up, finding a better helmet than the Tectal is a tall order, especially when one factors in POC's exceptional customer service. The Tectal never disappoints!

Love my new helmet!
29 June 2023

I love my POC Tectal helmet and receive a lot of comments on it as they are not so common to see in Australia. I bought the Blue Opal Metallic colour and just LOVE it! The helmet fits well and is very comfortable to wear. It took a little time to get used to it as it is quite different from my previous Giro helmet - it sits a little lower on my forehead and the visor is a bit more visible above my eye line. It feels way more protective than my previous helmet and I wouldn’t go back for this reason alone. I found the POC Tectal helmet super easy to adjust and fit perfectly to my head. The only negative I have found is that the chin strap is quite long for me and so there is quite a long piece left over that is supposed to be held in place by a small rubbery band. ... MoreI love my POC Tectal helmet and receive a lot of comments on it as they are not so common to see in Australia. However, I find this band never stays in place and I end up with the excess length of chin strap flapping around a bit. I’m sure I will be able to rig something up to sort this out.

My first ever POC helmet
15 December 2019

So far i’m enjoying the helmet, i could’ve gone bigger but i settled for M/L it feels a little tight around my side of head but not too bad. I followed the sizing guide but everyones different. It does hit my oakleys eye protection but manageable like the other reviewer mentioned. the dial adjuster in the back is easy to access for flush feel and to lock the helmet down. The helmet straps feel great around the neck. It comes with a bag for storage and extra accessories to interchange inside padding. Great buy, paid $150 shipped to my doorstep on Black Friday. Cheers!!

No mips??
29 October 2022

I LOVE this helmet. It’s so comfortable and fits my head better than any helmet I’ve ever tried. However, I recently noticed that it doesn’t have mips! I think it’s kinda insane considering the helmet is $180. Being that a helmet is meant for safety I don’t really understand why this feature wouldn’t be included.

Sizing unreliable
30 June 2023

I have both the M-L and the XL-XXL. One is so small I can’t even squeeze it on and the other is so huge it can’t stay secured. Of course, I bought the M/L second on the archive sale so now I’m stuck with silly two silly helmets. I have the ventrail air spin in size large which fits like a glove so why the inconsistency? POC figure out your sizing

Thankful for the Extra Coverage
1 July 2020

Super comfortable helmet; definitely the best fit I have ever had in a bike helmet. I had a high speed crash this morning when my pedal hit a stump hiding in the grass. I flew through the air and landed on the back of my head. There is a sharp rock embedded in the back of the helmet and the back of the helmets shell is all broken up. I put it on the bench beside the helmet it replaced and where all the damage is on the new POC helmet the old helmet has no protection. The new helmet's extra coverage definitely saved me serious injury.
