FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm a card-carrying member of the Poc fan club. This is my fourth Poc helmet and I really don't buy other brands.But with that said, this Tectal Race MIPS is as spectacular as the rest. I bought it for my 12 year old son and he is very excited about it. The finish and appearance is top flight. The comfort and adjustability is the best I have experienced, and I sleep easy knowing his head is protected by Poc safety engineering.

My son loves this helmet. He took a hard fall and needed to replace his helmet. POC held true to their crash replacement plan and had exceptional customer service. 3 of my teen boys all have this helmet and wouldn’t even consider a different one. Comfortable, breathable and now we know it works since a failed backflip on his bike resulted in only a minor concussion. Well done, POC.

I bought a helmet about 10 years ago and used it at a minimum of a couple times a week. The plastic that holds the adjustment in the back failed and it wasn't possible to fix, so I emailed them and told them the situation, not really expecting anything but it was in my opinion a manufacturing issue. But I had been using it for many years. I sent them pictures and they didn't have to but they offered me a discount for my next purchase and considering how many years I had it and how well it fit, I had to get another one but I upgraded and they still let me apply the discount! Now I'm riding with what I feel is the best helmet money can buy and I'm a happy customer for life!

I am a huge fan of POC helmets for XC, road, and gravel. So when the first flow trail system in Arizona opened it was time to for a new helmet in case I run out of talent. The Tectal looks great and fits perfectly! The fit and MIPS give me confidence that it won’t let me down if I need it. The light weight and visor are welcome additions when banging through the rocks in bright sunshine!
My last helmet was the Tectal model, I had nothing but issues with the inner padding falling apart and the outer coating pealing after two summers of use. Unfortunately it was out of any warranty period for POC so I purchased this Tectal Race model as I love the fit and feel of the helmet…so far two months of use and no issues. Very light weight and well vented to cool the sweaty head. In my opinion one of the best looking helmets on the market that also offers the greatest coverage for safety.
Only have a few days with the helmet but it’s been great so far! I wear a size small and it fits me well. Good ventilation even in midday summer sun. First day with the helmet was a 15 mile shuttle lap with a lot of overgrown branches and the helmet protected me from many small head smacks! Visor is a bit smaller than I anticipated but I think with a good pair of glasses it protects my eyes from the sun enough.
Solid helmet. I bought this in medium. I wish they had this style in M/L. Love the design. Fit is good. A little narrow on the sides when using a beanie underneath for cold weather. Other than that the fit is comfortable. This is the third POC helmet I've purchased. It does fit different than the Kortal, which comes with in-between sizes. Would like to see "green" become a standard color. Other than that, this helmet is a must.
Tried on both the Tectal and Kortal. Kortal gave strange pressure points on the sides of my head while Tectal did not. Tectal also felt like it was higher quality. Straps felt thicker, hardware looked more stout, adjustment knob on the back was more substantial. Overall, I think I'm pretty happy with the Tectal. We'll see if it holds up long-term and if it's comfortable on longer rides as we get into the season.
This helmet has no low friction slip plane or any slip plane liner at all. I don't know how thishelmet can be considered a MIPS helmet with a rigid liner. The Giro Spherical can do this because it hasa sperical interface integrated in the shell but POC does not have that technology either. POC does notexplain how their MIPS system works to any detail either the way other manufacturers do. I would nottrust this helmet unless POC can explain how their invisible technology works. I do love the fit and coverageof this helmet and the straps work well too.
This helmet did exactly what it was supposed to do. I had the worst mountain bike crash of my life 3 days ago. I was airlifted to my local hospital with multiple broken bones, potential spine/neck injury, and a punctured lung. I did lose consciousness for some period. The helmet breaking upon impact helped displace the force and likely saved my life. I only had to get 3 staples in my head. Will purchase this helmet again when I'm healed and ready to get back on the trail. Wish I could attach a photo of the helmet that saved me.
