Didn’t think much of the this lens at first since it’s not a real lens but I enjoyed using it. A very unique look and the little window for allowing the light to leak in is really cool. I adjusted my colors in body on my Sony a7c to achieve an even better look for my pictures. So basically shoot jpeg and don’t edit anything maybe just crop. Shooting raw is still a great I did adjust the colors more to my taste.

Can't see much actual use for this. Thought would be a fun carry around lens for good light, but output is laughably bad.Not "but in an endearing, vintage character" bad, just bad. If you want to play with fixed focus toy camera lenses, amazon has them in all the major mounts for 80% cheaper.Build quality is impressive though. A strange dichotomy, for sure.

I enjoyed taking a walk with this lens. It gives me more ideas for creativity. I plan to use it when I’m out doing daily activities with my wife. The lens is fun. Hopefully it doesn’t damage the sensor in my camera. That’s my only concern. If someone can reply with facts and data to prove no damage to sensor that would be great!

Fun to Use, Tough to Love
12 September 2024

First off, this gets 4 stars because they put these lenses at a great price point. Now shooting with the 16mm, I really wish I would have grabbed the 28mm. Let me explain.I totally get the point of these lenses. They are fun and create cool light leak effects and are super compact and lightweight. That’s all great. What’s really difficult for me to love is just how chaotic the distortion and out-of-focus areas are because they take up like 80% of the image. I’m having a tough time actually making images that I want to keep because you have to be pretty picky about your composition to make it work for the image. I like a good challenge, so I’m looking forward to continuing to use the lens, but I just wish that level of distortion and blurriness wasn’t so heavy.I ... MoreFirst off, this gets 4 stars because they put these lenses at a great price point. I had a neutral white balance at over 8200k custom set on my a7iv walking around outside in the afternoon.Other than the color cast what I got was totally as advertised and the more I shot with it over my time using it, the more I grew into understanding what kind of shots work with it more. I ended up enabling crop mode and that alleviated some of my concerns with how much of the area of the image was blurred vs in focus. Also the vignetting I think is a lot stronger than they let on, so crop mode helps with that too, but I’m less concerned with vignetting in this case.Overall, I like the lens. I may still pick up the 28 at some point in the future.

Not For Me
14 September 2024

The photos on the product page don’t tell the whole story. The chromatic aberration of this lens is way higher than what is shown, which luckily can be corrected in post to some degree. Depending on lighting, the light leak effect can be way too strong and just washes the image out completely. The majority of the time I don’t even open the leak window. In retrospect, I would’ve preferred a cheaper alternative elsewhere.

One of the best purchases I’ve made in the last few years.
4 September 2024

I run a portrait business in Phoenix, and an Instagram under the handle @ClickWhrrrWow where I highlight instant photography. I just received light leak lens this, and spent the whole afternoon Saturday shooting with it on my Sony A6400. I have the 50mm f/11 fixed focus. #notsponsored, I have put some samples of the lens taken with my a digital camera, and converted to film with the Polaroid Lab. | can honestly say I love this lens. With the light leak shutter closed it's a sharp fixed focus lens, but open the shutter and small leaks to full flares are controllable. To add to the film look I processed the images to film on my Polaroid Lab. I'm buying the 28mm as soon as I can afford it. Love the build quality. RF Lens Mount Rattles
19 September 2024

The RF mount lens rattles when mounted on my Canon R6 mii. Unmount and reattach. Still rattles. Because of the lens not mounting correctly, even when the light leak slide is fully closed, I’ll get light leak at times. And to top things off, I have multiple photos that have a blacked out wonky “bar” at the top of the photo. When the lens is working correctly, it’s when I’m indoors with a light source. Not at all how the promotional video showed, being used outside. I really wanted to get the three lens kit but decided to test one lens (28mm) to see how it worked first. Glad I only got one lens. Sucks that I won’t be getting the others after the poor performance of this one.

Underwhelming
23 September 2024

First of all, I love the light leak idea. So much so, I purchased the entire set.But lens themselves (Sony E) are underwhelming:- colours are shifted heavily, with green being especially difficult- vignetting isn’t light, it’s heavy on 16mm and light in 28mm, on 50mm it is present- leak control is difficult, as it is difficult to slide or rotate the leak ring- front cap is difficult to take off, making quick, street type of situations, to be difficult.I love the idea itself, but I wish lenses themselves were a bit better.

Unique Accessory Lens
1 October 2024

I love this product. It is inexpensive for what it does. The lens is an essential accessory tool for any serious photographer. Takes a few minutes to learn and control. Once you understand how it works and how to control the light, you will be hooked. I purchased the 28mm. May purchase a wider lens as well. Consider this lens like purchasing an accessory filter for creative photography. Love it.

Very cool little lens!
27 August 2024

I love the simplicity of this lens. It’s definitely a scenario where limitations lead to creativity and happy accidents. I really enjoy using for shooting video for similar reasons that I would reach for something like a Helios 44-2. Instant nostalgia. Great price point for a really fun creative tool. Awesome build quality. I wonder if it would be possible to apply this concept to an adapter that would go between the camera body and other lenses. 🤔
