Here's why:🎵 Astounding Sound Quality: Despite its compact size (seriously, it’s only 3.5 inches high), the sound that emanates from this tiny beast is just unbelievable. The acoustics are advanced and powered by computational audio, which means it fills the room with sound that you'd expect from a much larger amp. The depth of tone and volume is quite impressive, and after a few minutes of playing, you forget you’re using such a small device. The app is packed with amps, pedals, Auto Chords, Smart Jam, and over 50,000 tones on the cloud. The possibilities are endless.🎧 AI-Powered Smart Jam: This is probably my favorite feature. The Spark app listens and learns your playing style, and then generates a backing track for you to jam along with. It's like having a band in your pocket. Absolutely phenomenal for practice sessions!🔊 33 Amps and 43 Effects: Yes, you read that right. Spark GO comes loaded with 33 amps and 43 effects and pedals, catering to a variety of genres and styles. The authenticity of the tones is mind-blowing. Plus, you can save your favorites to 4 fully customizable presets.🎬 Video Capture and Sharing: For those who love to share their music, Spark GO has an ingenious video capture feature. You can record yourself playing within the Spark app and post it instantly with incredible sound and video quality.🛠️ Rugged and Portable: It's not just about the features, the build quality is exceptional too. It has rugged construction with an extra hardshell grille and comes with a strap. What’s more, it has an 8-hour rechargeable battery, making it perfect for travel. In conclusion, Spark GO is an absolute game-changer for guitarists. The combination of portability, sound quality, and features make it an essential tool for any musician, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro. Positive Grid has truly outdone themselves with this one. If you’re considering getting a portable amp, don’t think twice. Spark GO is the way to go! 🎸🌟

After a first full charge, I've been invited to update the firmware. Not a big deal, easy to do. But when I plugged the guitar in, I was very disappointed by the volume of the whole thing... And the first thoughts I had were: Well what do you expect from such a tiny speaker... So I started crawling the forums about this tiny amp, and quickly, it came up that once you start to look for "Spark Go" dedicated chain effects on the app, it sounds louder and better. And that's true. I started to play with 10-15 chains of effects named "Go" something, and immediately, it became much better. I found some very interesting clean tones, as well as many others, and it has been a pleasure to travel in august with this small amp. For the first time of my life on vacations, I could practise guitar an hour per day... The app is really interesting in many ways.On the contrary, the four pre-saved sounds on the amp are not sounding good. This gives you a very bad experience and I won't be surprised if this amp would returned by lazy customers who don't want to dive in the app's settings...-

Almost perfect!

This little amp is amazing. I actually use it with my electric violin. I love the portability (I no longer have to carry my larger amp) - it fits right into my violin case so it's one less thing to lug around. I love the sound presets, they are easy to use, easy to tweak, and easy to get the sound that I want. The price is also decent!A few minor things that could be improved:- The volume ring on the amp seems to be made of plastic and feels rather cheaply made. It would be great if this was made out of metal. The same goes for the grill plate. Though I love the option of swapping it out for a different look, it would be nice if this were also made out of metal.- This one is a bit more problematic - the app only works when it is open on my phone. Though I love the option of swapping it out for a different look, it would be nice if this were also made out of metal.- This one is a bit more problematic - the app only works when it is open on my phone. So if I want to jam along to a song on YouTube with the sounds from the Spark app, there is no way to do this unless I open both the apps in split screen view (which is a bit frustrating, because now I have a smaller amount of space on my phone to navigate the Spark app and make any adjustments to the sound). I'm not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this, but it would be great if the sound presets I've made in the app can remain "active" even with the app in the background. As of now, the sound reverts to a generic tone as soon as I switch to another app, and I have to keep reconnecting the amp to the app when I open it again.- I'm not sure if the headphone port on the amp acts as an aux input (it doesn't seem to be the case). For moments when the bluetooth connection might be laggy or unresponsive, it would be good to have a wired option so that the amp can play music through an aux cable.- Battery level indicator - the light is very dim and rather small, so it is difficult to see during the day unless I'm playing in a dark room. It would be even better if there was a percentage indicator so that I know exactly how much battery is left. But at the very least, this light needs to be bigger and brighter. Same goes for the bluetooth indicator light.

This amp is incredible! So many good things about it, it’s size and portability make it so easy to be everywhere, the fact you can use it with 4 built in tones without the app needed, it doubles up as a great Bluetooth speaker which has many positives, the battery seems to last ages! Ive played it a hour a day for a week and no sign of it going dead. The tone of it is simply incredible for what it is.. I was expecting a novelty amp, not a tone monster! Since having this amp I’ve practice every day and wrote new ideas due to the inspiring sounds. It really is that good.I have one negative, when the amp is really driven or had a heavy distortion, the speaker can’t really handle it and it crackles slightly / peaks and overloads like , which to be honest is fair enough for an amp that’s size, it’s just a little odd as the sounds are made for the amp, so you would think the presets wouldnt do that. But if you just back off the volume and play quieter when it’s heavy (seems odd I know) then it’s fine. At the end of the day it’s not completely perfect, but it’s not far off and it’s way better than I anticipated and a great price for a very impressive piece of kit. I’m well happy and I havent played this much in years!

Just okay for me

I do really like the tiny size and the convenience of the Spark Go. The sound is good enough for practicing at home with or without headphones. I do think it doesn't quite get loud enough and I think volume would really help this thing. I do like having different tones at my fingertips, but none of them are amazing, IMO, they're all just OK.I also think I hear this additional washy / shimmer reverb quality in every single reverb option available - it's literally in the spring reverb presets; and you cannot tune or turn off! It sounds okay, I guess, for making a solo guitar sound bigger and more lush, but the lack of any ability to tune it or disable it (without also disabling the spring or plate or whatever) reverb is super frustrating. And this is a deal breaker for considering trying to use this live or as a backup in the case of a failed amp. Finally, I've had good luck with programming hardware presets and just using those, but have also had some failures when manipulating things via the app on my phone. In at least 2 cases, the whole thing crashed. I think the firmware update may have solved that, but it's one more mark in the negative column that makes me fear the reliability of this unit. All in all, I like it fine, but will continue to test this (and other similar units) before I can call any one a winner.

Keep it in perspective

First the pros: it is really well built. The construction is very sturdy and nothing about it feels cheap. The size is obviously the entire selling point and for that it wins some points. As a Bluetooth speaker I found it to be adequate for background noise and plenty loud enough, but there’s very little bass. So if you’re looking for a Bose speaker experience this isn’t it.Cons: it was a little bit of a pain to get it into synch mode to pair with my phone when trying to use the speaker to play music. But once it finally did it’s been fine since. Same with getting it set up to use as an amp. I will say that I feel like listening to music through it sounded louder than when I play my guitar through it. I will say that I feel like listening to music through it sounded louder than when I play my guitar through it. Also, there is noticeable clipping (speaker crackling) when the volume is up loud. The speaker is what you should realistically expect from a unit this small. It is not “room filling” sound by any definition. This is not something you’d take to go jam with people outside of a very small and intimate living room set up. It is not built to gig anywhere there is already a lot of noise like on the street somewhere. To put it in perspective, this gets about as loud as someone playing an acoustic unplugged. So it would be a great accompaniment to playing with someone else in that sense. The low ends are virtually non existent so you do end up with a rather thin sound but again, that tiny speaker can only do so much. Conclusion: this is still a great little amp for the money and given that the Go uses the software in the same way the rest of the Spark family does, that’s where you get your money’s worth. If you use this as intended, as a practice amp, and run it through a pair of decent headphones, then all the other audio issues go away. This is where it shines and becomes a very powerful practice tool in my opinion. Just don’t expect it to be something it’s not given its size.

Possibly a good idea... realization less so...

I bought the spark go to use it to play around without having to connect to my larger amp or the audio interface on my laptop, for some lounge/bedroom practice/jam.The good:The amp itself it's nice and seems well built. Some customization is possible playing with the 2 grids and the straps. The connected app is nice and relatively user friendly. The possibility to record sound and video with the phone getting the right sound quality is intriguingThe not so good:Connecting is almost straightforward, if not for the fact that 4 out of 5 times the app failed to recognize the amp.I'm a bass player and the selection of patches for the bass is quite limited and the same can be said for the jam tracks.I didn't have high expectations, considering the size of the ... MoreI bought the spark go to use it to play around without having to connect to my larger amp or the audio interface on my laptop, for some lounge/bedroom practice/jam.The good:The amp itself it's nice and seems well built. However, I connected the the bass with the standard cable and here's the bad surprise, even with the volume up to the max the sound from the amp was barely at the same level of the unplugged bass.I've tried plugging in my headset and the result was the same, I've tried with my Sennheiser monitors and again the same.I've also tried to record few videos of me playing, there's no noticeable difference between the sound from the amp via the embedded audio interface and the sound from the phone mic itself.Clearly the Spark Go is not targeted at bass players.I got better sound quality (even just for the volume) out of a 30£ amplug. It's a shame. Great idea, wrong target, bad implementation (for bass).Made a mistake, sent back, got a refund.

Review of Positive Grid Spark GO Ultra-Portable Smart Guitar Amp & Bluetooth Speaker

After getting fed up with carrying my Fender GTX 100 up and down the stairs when I wanted to practise, which led to not practising as much as I should, I saw the Spark range and after doing a bit of research and watching the recent review done by Lee and Pete I decided to bite the bullet and go with the Spark GO.I love the compact size, however ran into some issues trying connect the amp to my Samsung tablet for audio via bluetooth to practise whilst connecting using the Spark app from my phone but kept losing connection to one of the devices. I reached out to Positive Grid who basically told me you can't do this and might have more luck with iOS.I also found they have a teaching app that is only avilable on iOS.It seems that they have more focus on iOS then ... MoreAfter getting fed up with carrying my Fender GTX 100 up and down the stairs when I wanted to practise, which led to not practising as much as I should, I saw the Spark range and after doing a bit of research and watching the recent review done by Lee and Pete I decided to bite the bullet and go with the Spark GO.I love the compact size, however ran into some issues trying connect the amp to my Samsung tablet for audio via bluetooth to practise whilst connecting using the Spark app from my phone but kept losing connection to one of the devices. In the right hands like Lee and Pete it can sound great.

Spark GO - Mostly great
1 June 2023

This little amp is fantastic, as long as you set your expectations correctly. It isn't a 50W, or a 30W or even a 10W amp that's going to fill your local hall or a lounge full of people. It's a 5W amp that is plenty loud enough for a practice or use by yourself in a room. Keep to those expectations and it really does shine. So it functioning as a great practice amp would possibly be enough, but it really excels when you add on that it’s also a perfectly adequate audio interface, a very good portable MP3 player and gives you access to the same suite of hundreds of amp simulators, effects, backing tracks and play along music as its bigger brothers, the Spark 40 and the Spark Mini. Add up the alternative cost of buying an audio interface, MP3 player and guitar effects ... MoreThis little amp is fantastic, as long as you set your expectations correctly. Add up the alternative cost of buying an audio interface, MP3 player and guitar effects software and you’re getting the Spark GO amp thrown in for a huge negative cost. The app you access these effects through is OK, but there are several areas where it could definitely be improved - maybe they will come in the future.(Positive Grid - I have a list of the things I've found that I think would improve this app, so please contact me if you'd like to hear them). However, these are relatively small niggles that only detract slightly from an impressive piece of kit
