I bought 65lb power pro to fill my salmon trolling reel . Really a good quality braid. Very happy with it. Also really impressed with cabelas customer service. I had some trouble ordering & the lady in customer service stepped up & made the deal happen I highly recommend both , line & cabelas.

I fish this tied direct when aggressively fishing in stained but otherwise clear water Canadian shield waters on a Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0 & Shimano Curado DC casting rigs. When I slow things down I tie a 14 pound or 17 pound fluoro leader with a double uni knot and it holds like a champ when I am using Pflueger President 25 reels. I'll drop down to 15 pound when I drop to my Carbonlite 2.0 1500 spinning rig with equal success. The line holds up for several seasons and has little memory. When tying direct on my casting rigs I do have to retie after a couple of toothy fish but that is life.

Honestly I have never used a better braid. I’ve tried them all and Power Pro cannot he beat, and it’s not even the most expensive. Zero memory, super smooth, extremely abrasion resistant. I just wish they made it in a light blue color for clear water. For that I go to Daiwa J Braid.Moss Green with a Flouro leader can’t be beat in almost every situation.I replace my line once a year, and that’s fishing over 200 days per year and never had a failure. I even spool the used end onto another reel exposing the fresh end for another season. Absolutely fantastic line.

Does not meet advertised line strength
2 September 2022

I purchased this product based on the many positive reviews. I ordered the PowerPro 1500 Yard Braided Spectra Fiber line, 30lb weight. Upon receipt, I performed a bench strength test multiple times using a digital scale and found the line to break between 13.5 and 16.5 pounds. I contacted Bass Pro Shop and returned the item. It was replaced for free with 40lb line, very same brand, which I received today. After conducting multiple strenght tests, the new line broke each time between 22 & 27 pounds. I then tested the line using a 35lb hanging weight which also popped the 40lb line. I cannot recommend this line to anyone at this time because the material used on the products sent to me appears to be weaker than advertised.

Great line
28 September 2021

I was a long time ANTI Braid guy. This 20 # Power Pro Product was the first Braid I have purchased and use. I combined it with an eight foot G. Loomis rod and a Penn 4500 Slammer for Beach surf fishing in my Home town in North Carolina. WOW!! slick and strong. The casting distance is remarkable! I tie on a 4 foot section of Sako 25# leader with a great knot I found in the small pamphlet with the Power Pro Braid. I now can get out far enough to reach the fish. My advice use the line use their Knot ( easier than any I found on u tube) eat the fish.

Love this stuff for flounder fishing
12 February 2020

Been using PP braid since it first came out. Like it best of the braided lines I tried. Dose not dig in the spool as much as other braids on hard Bill Dance type hook settings. There is a learning curve to use braided lines if you been fishing with mono line most of your life . Knots will slip more unless you use a polomar knot, it can dig into your spool more and cause line to wrap around your rod tip because it is more supple than mono. Nothing can beat it on sensitivity and strong hook sets. Works the best for boney mouth fish like flounder. Works even better on spinng reels than bait casting reels because of zero memory and less line dig into spool. A low profile bass reel loded with 150 yds. of 30lb PP line can beat the heck out some very large fish.

Made the switch from monofilament to Power Pro Braid, and I will never look back!
16 March 2023

Just a little over three years ago, I made the switch from monofilament to Power Pro’s braid. One of my first experiences using Power Pro was when 10 LB braid hauled in a massive, 8-foot log in the strong current of a stream. I was astounded at its strength, and this served as an indicator of how it would perform over the next few years. The sensitivity with this braid is unbelievable. You will be able to feel every bite, every rock, every weed, and every time you touch the bottom. Additionally, the No-stretch allows you to instantly set the hook on fish, giving them no wiggle room and providing an instant-action feel that is awesome.Over my three years of using PowerPro, I can only remember twice when a fish broke me off. It’s high quality and its strength is unmatched. I’ll likely stick with it for life. 10/10.

Power Pro Braided Line
28 June 2018

To me Power Pro seems smoother than other braids I've tried, specifically braid from Berkley, Sufix, Spider Wire and KastKing. I'm not going to badmouth the later four brands tried as I simply did not like the way they performed on my spinning and baitcasting reels. The Power Pro seems to play out easier, with less friction and bird nesting. I like the 100 yard spools and have on some reels use it in 50 yard increments. I fish from a boat, I don't normally cast long distances, twenty to thirty yard distances being the norm. I have friends who like Sufix 832 and use it on my medium light spinning rods but will most likely convert them to PP once the line shows wear. I've used PP for three years now and have yet to reverse it on any reels. I've used PP for three years now and have yet to reverse it on any reels. I fish two or three outings per week and for three hour stretches at a time so I'm not a hard core fishing individual. I rig Texas and Carolina setups and also cast Rapala lures on many outings favoring bass, pike and panfish. Power Pro has yet to cause me any issues and for that reason I'm pleased with its performance. So, use the line you are most pleased with and enjoy your outing on the lake or river.

PowerPro failed on 1st use at low drag
12 May 2020

I bought 500yds of 65lbs PowerPro braided line for about $60.00 on 5/5/2020, spooled it on a brand-new Penn Rival 20LW reel that night and went fishing the next day. The reel cost me the same as the braid, and I thought the PowerPro braid would sort-of match the well-known Penn quality and durability. This was my 1st attempt at using braid for grouper fishing in Tampa Bay. I had 3ft of 50lb mono as a leader and had the drag set so I could pull it out by hand (maximum drag on the Penn is 15lbs). On the 1st strike, as soon as I adjusted the drag, the line snapped about 50 ft from me. I had fed out more than 300 yds to get the live bait to a known ledge. Thus, I lost near 300 yds of the brand-new braid. A big disappointment! The manufacturer has a warranty on the braid ... MoreI bought 500yds of 65lbs PowerPro braided line for about $60.00 on 5/5/2020, spooled it on a brand-new Penn Rival 20LW reel that night and went fishing the next day. A big disappointment! The manufacturer has a warranty on the braid and was told that I have to mail them the broken line to see if they want to honor the warranty. I told him I do not want to do that because already the braid was expensive and I do not think I should on top of my loss pay to mail an item to California on a chance they would honor the warranty. I told him I can provide him with all the photographic evidence needed. His reply: No, your only option is to mail in the broken braid along with a form describing the incident. While I can appreciate the $60 value of my new reel, I find it hard to digest $60 lost on the 1st use of the braid I loaded on it … supposed 65lbs test strength failed at less than 15 lbs!My advice: Never buy PowerPro braid when there are plenty alternative braids at higher strengths that sell for less.

The Line is Too Fine
2 May 2023

There comes a point when some things have been refined too far and fishing line is one of those. This line is so fine it takes a surgeon's magnifier in order to even see the line. What is the purpose of such fine line? Have the eyes of a bass become better at seeing lines with a reasonable diameter? I am now an old man and will go to a local tackle shop where they will sell me some new line and string my reels for me.
