Just ruined a jewelry box I spent several days making. Even though the pic shows the latch set in hardwood, the pins are too flimsy and bend on the slightest tap. You could pre-drill, maybe, but good luck with that as they're 1mm in diameter at their widest.Note also 'decorative'. The brass plate is 0.2mm thick according to my calipers. Bends in your fingers. One of the pair doesn't close properly as the hole doesn't fit the stud.Wish I'd kept my receipt. I'm spewing. It's not the poor quality of the thing, or the $5 (not cheap for a sliver of brass) - it's falling at the final hurdle. Shame Bunnings don't even have anything else similar.

These are very flimsy and the brass pins are not practicable for most woods the hinges are very insecure and the point on the catch can be hard on yourfingers as it is quite pointy
