A decent starter set

These are much nicer brushes than you can get at a discount store, and less expensive through Blick than you'll pay at a craft warehouse. I hunt for a good deal all the time. These brushes are not what I'd call full-bodied, but do seem to have nice spring action. They're great for trying out different brush sizes and shapes to experiment with different brush strokes. I got a really nice looking set with long handles for a song! They feel great in my fingers. One came broken and customer service was quick to ship out a replacement (at no charge) right away...so that was a relief. Thanks again!

Excellent brushes for the price

I have used a variety of brushes ranging from different price values over the years. Sometimes expensive brushes that are sold individually are just as good as specific cheaper brands that come in packs. A pack of good brushes for around $10 or under is an almost absurd deal, but that's what I payed for my brush set. You just can't get better than this for the price. The texture is soft and durable, yet firm enough so there is hardly any splay when pulled across a surface, making it possible to make very clean, smooth lines. The handles are wood and polished, making them look and feel more expensive than they actually are. I would definitely buy this again. If anyone asks for brush recommendations, I'll be sure to bring these up.

When I first got these they arrived super hard and stiff. However, after i washed them they definitely softened up! Ive seen a few bristles come out here and there but since i dont do commissions and mainly use them in my sketchbook im okay with that, however that may bother many people. Overall the price was unbeatable for a set of 6 decent brushes!! #sweepstakes

Great paint brushes
6 January 2022

These brushes are very good. I was not expecting them to be as good as they since the brushes I have tried in the past always leave alot of brush marks and streaks. These didn't cause the marks. I'm very impressed!

Long Handled Green brushes
13 September 2020

I'm not sure if I got a bad set or what but the best value Princeton long handled brushes are just horrible. The bristles came all frayed. They are hard to work with in general are just frustrating to use. Cause the bristles are stiff and frayed they produce completely frayed edges and patches. The knock off brushes I got are easier to work with.

Love so far!
5 May 2020

I got the 9143 GLDN TKLN 7/SET, I use them for watercolor, and I think they're the perfect little "starter" set. I watercolored often before getting these but only stuck to the same tiny brush and giant fat one. I lost my fat one so I got this set, and I love it. The variety is the PERFECT one, all the brushes are a little bit different and different enough to get interesting and different results. I'm surprised how much these brushes have inspired me and allowed me to test new ideas. Highly recommend. And already recommended to my other friends who watercolor as a hobby.

No good for acrylics (unless fluid)
30 September 2018

These brushes seem to simply be too soft (or maybe there are too few bristles packed into the ferrule) to work well with acrylics. Trying to apply acrylics with these brushes results in most of the paint being dumbed onto the spot you placed down the brush. As I beginner, I thought that acrylics simply lacked coverage and a ton of paint had to be used but was proven wrong when other paintbrushes gave my paints the coverage and spreadability that I had expected. Bottom line, These brushes might work well for watercolors, but go for something else if you use acrylics.

Not great
16 July 2020

I've been using these brushes for about a couple of weeks now, and maybe it's because of my technique, but they don't hold together very well. The bristles have been coming out and the line of the shape of the brush hasn't really held together so well, i.e. lots of separation between the bristles. This is my first set of brushes so I don't know if this is normal or not but based on what I've seen online it seems like not. Not super satisfied with purchase.#sweepstakes

Princetpm RealValue Bristle Brush Sets
10 March 2016

I used these brushes myself previous to my small group setting in which I lead folks thru an acrylic painting session. The quality and price of this level of Blick bristle brushes was not quite the quality for this situation. I was able to finish 85 percent of my test painting before having to switch to one of my better brushes. I do feel these brushes are probably perfect for use with a much younger crowd because of the good price in the event they do not survive. Hope this helps for those looking for value and not a high level of expertise. I would recommend this for that lesser level use situation. I do not have anything negative to say about this product or price.

Terrible, don't hold shape, frayed first use
29 February 2020

These are the worst brushes. They don't hold their shape at all, very rough but flimsy frayed bristles that don't spread the paint smoothly. The small round one for fine lines came with a pointed tip but lost its shape with a single use and cannot use for fine lines at all. Had to use the end of the handle instead to draw lines. I bought 20 sets for paint parties. Will have to buy different ones.
