I was using a Mac previously, however after once connecting this unit and using the clean USB port for the DAC, the difference is ‘chalk cheese’. The mid range has grown and the space perception has increased, individual instruments are clear. I have been using my valve amp for many years but it has never sound this good. Worth every cent.

I won't mention names, but many of the popular sellers left me flat so:nically.Then I read John Atkinson's highly positive review of the S2 Stream box ultra in Stereophile. This little box works exactly as John described and sounds way above its price point. My only quibble is that I find the web interface and phone app a little clunky. But they get the job done, and you get used to them. I now stream a lot of high definition files from Qobuz and my own ripped CDs on a USB hard drive. It all sounds superb. Highly recommended.

Good streamer but app needs improvement
And that’s great thing! Zero issues setting it up or operating it. UI is pretty basic. Works flawlessly with Roon.
Just an amazing addition to my LS50w
Clunky software and very limited manual. I would not buy this again, I'd instead buy a combined streamer/ DAC. I find the Pro-Ject's software slow, and unclear how to take advantage of my NAS etc. I own a Marantz AV8802 preamp for my main system and the streaming software is more reliable but more primitive. I don't get any sonic benefit from this devic, so I don't understand why Stereophile rated this so highly.
I was skeptical that a streamer would do much to improve the sound of my system when installed between my pc and dac. There's a bit more detail and more heft to the sound than with the pc to dac setup. Was the best price on offer, ordered on Sunday and arrived on Friday even though it took the odd path of flying 800 k's past Sydney to Melbourne tothe Central Coast which is an hour north of Sydney. Very happy with the product and service. Thanks
Not to be confused with lacking sophistication or performance, this little box does its job exceptionally well and allows me to stream directly from Wi-Fi. Very simple to set up, good instructions and meets my needs perfectly. No perceptible USB noise from the connection to my DAC
I was hesitant to buy this, but I was tempted to try it out.I’m glad I did, it has the qualities of a great CD transport, rock solid imaging, neutral sonics, the more I listened the more I liked it. I’ve used micro tendu and Auralic Aries 1 in the past (I think it’s time to sell them), I’ve decided to keep this one.
this piece is a dog with fleas..software bugs..works..stops working..updates..works again and stops working..very overpriced for a 50 dollar raspberry board! Then it has serious operational issues..reasd reviews on Amazon before buying!
