Whereas this record player requires you to turn the power off manually, otherwise the needle grinds away in the runout grooves and wears out. Not to mention these needles are expensive and need to be calibrated or whatever. I would go somewhere and look at record players in person to find what fits your needs because they are all a little different. I Wish I had because this player is inconvenient to use.

An excellent buy.

Have had for a couple of weeks now and have been really impressed, I am not technical when it comes to audio, I wanted something straightforward, easy to set up and use that sounds good. This is all of these things. So pleased with my choice of deck and new speakers. Already had an old Yamaha amplifier and they all sound fantastic. Great to be listening to some quality vinyl again.

Great but watch the tone arm balance.

Positives. Good sound quality when playing, through the preset stylus. Tone and bass is good and obviously subject to minor changes in the tone arm weight and cartridge used. As these are advised as preset was expected to plug and play with little or no tinkering.Bad points. The tone arm is in the instructions advised as preset. The cartridge requires 1.75g of pressure to avoid skate and skipping. Playing fresh and new vinyl I quickly realised that the initial lowering of the arm it skipped and skated across the LP. After assessing the setup it was apparent the arm wasn’t even set at 1.5g which is the cartridge minimum factory guide. This leads on to the second observation. Great entry-level turntable
13 January 2022

Great sounding turntable - have this running through a Cambridge Duo, and the sound is brilliant. The turntable itself is near enough plug & play, and comes with a decent cartridge preinstalled. Just put the belt on, pop on the glass platter and you are off. For the money, I was surprised how well-built and solid this felt. No plastic parts, and the build quality oozes out of it. Definitely an audiophile's turntable at a reasonably low budget price!Great follow-up service from Richer Sounds has to be mentioned too - I made a small error with the order, but nothing was too much trouble to sort. Thank you!

My first turntable!
15 February 2023

The Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB is a great first turntable. It requires little set up but still has that manual operation to it to make the user feel more involved with the music, which is a nice experience compared to how I imagine an automatic one would make you feel. Very nice simple bit of kit that sounds great and looks really classy. Very happy with this as my first turntable and I’m glad I didn’t go for the cheapest option to start with.

Outstanding performance on a budget

I bought this turntable as an upgrade. After spending days reading reviews I finally made my choice and went for it. Compared to my previous turntable which admittedly wasn’t the greatest. This was a game changer. Easy to set up and it has transformed my listening experience. The sound quality is amazing from deep base to high end tweeter the sound stage is full and emersive. it comes supplied with cartridge and a supposedly entry level needle which can be upgraded in expensively. If this is the sound the entry level needle produces I don’t feel the need to upgrade it any time soon. The built in phono stage amp is a bonus if you don’t have a dedicated phono input on your amp. But it’s easily switched of if you want to use your amps phono stage. The ability to change ... MoreI bought this turntable as an upgrade. Well done Project on producing this at such a great price.

Outstanding value
12 January 2022

I bought the turntable for my daughter and partner as a Christmas present, as they wished to get into vinyl, and I had previously owned a Project turntable which I liked very much.I was delighted first of all with the smooth transaction with Richer Sounds and the outstanding delivery, which was in time for us to take it with us for Christmas. The setup was really easy and the built in phono stage meant that it was easy to couple up to the modern Marantz amplifier they already had.I was very impressed with the sound and the turntable had obviously been well set up at the factory. My daughter and partner are delighted with their new turntable and have already built up their collection of vinyl.Great buy, super value, thank you Richer Sounds.

Quality at every angle
12 May 2023

I visited Richer Sounds in Bath a number of times before deciding to buy this turntable...they offered good solid advice at each visit. I wanted a turntable that could work in conjunction with my B&W Zeppelin in my "man cave" and this turntable certainly exceeded my expectations. It is a high quality device and provides excellent reproduction. I've added a cork May and a disc spindle weight but the performance "out of the box" was already excellent. Great advice, great product at a reasonable price point...I'm very happy

Sharp Looks - Build quality so so....
28 November 2021

This is one great looking turntable, especially in white.Sound Quality - I have this linked up to a blue tooth speaker AudiPro C10, so the set up is not really set up for quality. However, it sounds great and depending on what you listen to you can really loose your self in the tracks which is great. I will be hooking this up to a proper hi fi set up soo.Build Quality - I expected much better form this award winning turntable, cons:1. Only 3 feet, really should have 4 for better balance.2. Platter is well weighted. However the rest of the turntable is really light.3. Tonearm very very light, you can easily scratch a record if you are not delicate with it.4. The edging on the main body could be finished better.

T1 phono SB

We have a more expensive turntable in the room we never use, and an array of vinyl we rarely listen to as a result. I could have just brought that record player into the snug but my amp here doesn't have a phono input and I've run out of electrical sockets for one (plus the expense). I asked Gill what my budget might be for a turntable with a decent cartridge and a built in pre-amp, hoping she'd say about a grand, SL-1500 here we come! Instead she said '300 quid'. Well, thanks to sale prices I got myself T1 SB Phono for 285. The extra 15 quid I spent on a clear acrylic platter to maintain the looks. I don't know where Pro-ject are making a profit. It comes with a 50 cartridge and 45 worth of interconnects. The sound is great, lively and punchy. Tracking isn't brilliant at the end of sides, with noticeable 'spitch', but a stylus upgrade in time wouldn't be expensive (an OM10 would be a 50 option, but above my 300 limit for now...) All in all I'm delighted. Sounds pretty good and looks great also in 'walnut'.
