As many have said, the price is insanely high. I purchased the Profoto A10 and was immediately blown away by the quality and performance. I was never happy with my studio lights so I researched the B10 extensively. I purchased the B10 kit with beauty dish and just finished a debutante ball photographing 13 girls, full length portraits and group/family shots. Every single shot has exactly the same exposure and color quality! Extremely consistent. Over 600 shots with no misfires! Later that evening there is a ceremonial dance so the B10 did double duty as a video light and strobe, all on battery power! All I can say is WOW! Lightweight and portable! If you are on the fence about the B10, and you make a living with photography/videography, don't hesitate, buy it! you ... MoreAs many have said, the price is insanely high. My Profoto B10 is my new go-to light whether I'm shooting in my studio or on location. It's compact, light, and packs a good punch (250WS) when I need it. (So far, I haven't needed it on full on location, but I plan a night shoot soon, so I'll probably be able to test it then.)I have the air remote to fire it (but I can trigger it optically by firing off an on-camera light) and I got two OCF soft boxes - one 2'x3' and the other about one foot square (which I used mostly on location). It's an unbeatable team. Very happy with all my Profoto purchases.

Great light. The build quality of the Profoto B10 itself is strong and the build quality of the stand adaptor is also strong. However, the design of the connection between the stand adaptor and the base of the light itself (which consists of a small tooth and a lightweight screw) is not robust enough to solidly hold the two together when using anything but the smallest and lightest of modifiers. The weight of any mid or larger size modifier (including the RFi 3x4 that currently is a promotional give-away with this light) actually bends the body of the light away from the stand adaptor. Will it snap and break apart - probably not, but the gap created between the back side of the stand adaptor and the base of the light when using mid-size modifiers looks bad (like it ... MoreGreat light. Profoto did everything else right on this light, but the flimsy connection between the mount adaptor and the base of the light needs to be improved and made more solid in future updates to this model.I suggest they use a heavier/larger screw and replace the strap attachment point with a second alignment pin hole.

I have been excited for this unit for ever since those preview videos. Pretty much this is a much smaller and very portable B1 (sacrificing that 1 stop isnt that much for the trade offs of a much better constant light and half the weight). The charging unit is a two cord system similar to how the B1 is, it has one piece that connects into the battery itself and another cord that goes into the wall. My unit didnt come with the cord that connects into the wall (might need an aftermarket order) but BH was able to remedy this. If this is a recurring issue with how the profoto packages work, I would rather opt for this included with the B10 light instead of the light stand they throw in. If this is a recurring issue with how the profoto packages work, I would rather opt for this included with the B10 light instead of the light stand they throw in. Not a fan of that freebie.Ive used this thing on about 4 shoots and one wedding so far with only the one battery it comes with and on each shoot, as long as you begin a fully charged battery and arent using this beast at full power for entire day/every shot, it has lasted the day without charging. I personally tend to shoot a little powered down to act more like a balanced light with the ambient than to over-power it. However you can always plug it in and shoot wherever theres an outlet. The downside so far is that this thing does not pair with the original Profoto Magnum reflector well, it sits a little recessed, so I would recommend the OCF version if you use hard light. I use the standard 7 reflector on this and all my other speed rings/profoto modifiers work with the exception of this one. I have a feeling it wont work with the long throw reflector too, but I dont have that one so cant tell you guys.I have a D2 unit, a B1, and now this B10 and its a great balance to be ready to shoot anywhere and plug in or be battery powered on location. The best reaction so far has been at weddings with the B10 hand held and people are doing selfies/group photos with their phones and I turn on that constant light and it pretty much becomes the best phone photos of people theyve ever had cause of the quality of that light. Enjoy if you get it! Of course everyones caveat is that its expensive.. but if youre already in the Profoto ecosystem, pricing wise its what you would expect.. a 500 watt B1x is 2095, a 1000 watt D2 is 2095.. and a D2 500 watt is 1595.. so with the B10 being 1595, it fits exactly in that pricing model.
I had pre-ordered this unit back in the fall but had to cancel it due to other monetary restraints at the time. I finally re- ordered and got my B10, extra batteries, the Profoto Connect (Nikon) and downloaded the app for my iPhoneX. Ive been carrying around a B1(sometimes 2) for location work over the past three years, and this smaller package and weight is just what I needed. Im 67 and the weight and size reduction are a real blessing when Im on my feet for so long and working without an assistant.Im impressed with its efficiency and performance, to say the least. If you dont need the extra boost in power of the B1, the 250w/s unit is a much better option for its size and portability. Ive had a few issues with the Profoto Connect and app communicating at times due to bluetooth sluggishness, but I think the next updates to the firmware and app will help with that. In the meantime, I have other Profoto Nikon and Fujifilm triggers that work just fine.Im also impressed with how the batteries take the heavy use outside in high power lighting situations and repeated flashes.
Absolutely excellent OCF. Like all things Profoto, it’s expensive - so renting is a solid choice if you are considering jumping into the Profoto system. The Profoto Remote Air TTL is an essential component (rents separately) and works flawlessly. You can dial in compensation easily on camera with the Remote Air that’s specific to your camera. There is also a gel / grid kit out there that makes the B10 and B10 Plus more versatile to light balance. The B10 Plus cranks out up to 500 w/s - which is twice the power of the B10. That additional power is nice to have and I found that I could easily use the flash to fill for portraits in dreaded intense afternoon sun. My Sony a1 actually works much better TTL with the B10 Plus than with my Sony native flash units. The B10 ... MoreAbsolutely excellent OCF. Wish the B10 head had a dome diffuser attachment and gel kit as standard - and it should have for the purchase price. Get the spare battery as a separate rental if you plan on using it professionally. As always, great service from Lensrentals. The best!
Just received my B10 today. The first thing I noticed is the size, its pretty small- half the weight of a B1. The build quality is very impressive; the knobs and controls feel very well damped and silky. The display is crisp and bright. The menu is incredibly well designed; simple and intuitive. For most of my location work, this unit is going to be absolutely perfect. I can see where the B10 will compliment and fit in well with my B1s, B2, and A1s. I have an upcoming wedding in Miami, and since Im flying, the B10 and 2-3 A1s will be lightweight solution for most any lighting situations. The modeling light on this thing is, compared to the B1, super bright and easily adjustable. The modeling light on this thing is, compared to the B1, super bright and easily adjustable. Being able to adjust the color temperature is going open up a new set of possibilities for continuous light situations. I downloaded the Profoto app, and it works seamlessly and intuitively with the B10. Having the additional control of modeling light intensity and color temp from my smart phone is great. Theres a host of other features that the app allows, and its brilliant and simple to use. The technology packed into this little wonder is going to make my photography work easier and more enjoyable. It will allow me to create beautiful images for my clients in a way that previously not possible. It comes with a well-designed case to keep everything together. Last but not least is the light quality- it is, light all other Profoto products, fantastic. No regrets with this purchase!
Compact size and robust battery. Easy to add a few of these to your camera bag without needing to haul a second bag. I also purchased a second rubber cap to protect the rear display. I've seen some cracked displays on the forums. I wish the modeling light had a kelvin dial instead of just a blue/orange dial that you have to eyeball. One check against is the non-user replaceable flash tube. Profoto has evidently decided to prioritize making more money off each user than having a truly professional strobe that can have a flash tube replaced by the user in the field.
this is my 3rd B10/B10+ unit. as with all Profoto lights, they work every time you trigger them. as long as i'm careful with them, they should last a very long time. The reduced price WITH all these free extras made it a must have. I use a 2 light setup for clinical photography where consistent exposure and color is very critical and Profoto does not disappoint.Because I need 2 for jobs like this, I need at least one backup light going in. I'm also looking forward to swapping out one of my A1x speedlights with this in portrait setups.
I am a full time pro commercial/promotional photographer and have been using wall powered and battery brick powered moonlights on my location shoots for the last 17 years. Over the last 6 months photography has changed in that budgets got smaller and my need for faster, smaller and more compact location shoots grew. I wanted something completely wireless yet still of the highest quality. I used the b10 as my primary light to mix in with the ambient on a commercial shoot the other day and could not have been more impressed. Its small, weighs next to nothing and looks beautiful. I had all of my regular lights in the truck ready to go if this thing didn't live up to my expectations, but not having to run extensions, attach pocket wizards and/or lower the light stand to make a change on the light was a game changer for me! I just pulled my phone out, clicked on the profoto app and had full control over the power and model light during each scene. I was most concerned about the battery life and with these batteries costing over 200.00 each i thought this might be where i found the catch. I bought 3 batteries just to be safe and after shooting about 1700 shots on power levels between 3.5 - 5.6 all day the battery was still nearly 3/4 charged and i simply couldn't believe it. I never even got into the second battery yet I had three! This light has changed the location game for me and im sure it will for many others. The price is steep, yes. If you are a pro and on the fence I wouldn't hesitate to put out the money for it. I started with one of these to see how I liked it and now im ready for a second.
