This slicer gives you 4 different cutting styles. Thin, thick, cuts like French fries, and cuts like thin strips of carrots you find in restaurant salads. They give you a hand guard where you can hold the tomato or apple etc with and your hands never get close to the blades. There is green rubber on the bottom so it doesn't slip when you are using it, and also a green rubber handle. Changing the blade attachment is the time you have to be careful, I wish they would have had some kind of compartment or something to store the extra cutting piece. It is dishwasher safe, they recommend top rack or hand washing. Seems like a great slicer, just have to be cautious when using it.

My favorite thing about this slicer is the way it minces onion when using the finest teeth and thinnest blade. Next, I tried it for au gratin potatoes and used the thinnest slicer. It made it easy to make the casserole pretty, but I think I could have used my regular grater for that. After that, I tried the thickest slicer to make cinnamon apple rings, and unfortunately, it couldn't slice the apple all the way through so the edge of each ring was broken. Finally, I was disappointed in the safety hand grip because it was awkward and clunky and didn't hold, so I tossed it aside and just didn't slice the end of the vegetables.

I absolutely love this Prep Solutions multi-purpose mandolin slicer set. It’s capable of cutting it in four options. Your able to cut in thin and thick julienne style, thin and thick slices.I like that it has notches on the green parts so I can put something perfect under it to hold my slices. The parts are easy to set up and change out. Be sure to be extra careful though because the stainless steel blades are really sharp. Using the hand guard help. You stick the prongs of the hand guard in what you plan on cutting and slide it across with not much effort. I choose to cut onions on my first time. Couldn’t be more happier. I have owned several multi slicers over the years and I am not impressed with the Prep Solutions multi slicer for several reasons. While the slicer is sharp and slices good enough there is only 4 options for slicing. You can thick or thin slice and you can thick or thin julienne. Not having more slicing options greatly limits you options. The slicer does however include a slicing guard and has silicone treatment to help with it sliding around. Another problem I am having with the slicer is that there are no legs or anything to elevate it any further than the angle that is built into it. The angle built in leaves very little room for cuttings and the only way to get around this is to put it on top of a container which could be dangerous. The other problem with the slicer that I do not like is there is no where that I could find to store the extra blade. I tried several ways to keep it with the slicer but personally haven't found one that works. While the mandolin does slice very well the lack of slicing options is the main reason I am disappointed.
Perfect for my uses! I love making cole-slaw with it. The "thin plate" was the perfect size for both slicing the cabbage thin, the way I like it and flipping the "thin plate" over to the julienne side made the perfect sized julienne carrots for my slaw. The slicer was so easy to use. WATCH YOUR HANDS!!! I cant say that enough. The slicer is very sharp. Use your head and don't use it stupidly. I haven't used the thick plate yet but I believe it would be good for potato slices and maybe thin potato french fries. For the price, you really can't get anything any better in my honest opinion. The rubber grips on the bottom of the slicer fits and holds perfectly on my large Pyrex bowl so I can directly slice i to the bowl. Makes life real ease and keeps the mess down. The carrots I used, easily stained the white plastic of the slicer but that didn't matter to me. All in all, I really like it and think very highly of it. I don't know how it is going to hold up over time. I wash and dry it after each use and I don't see any rust forming. The blades seem to be staying sharp. I've used it seven times so far sense I bought it on April 19, 2023. Hope this review helped with your choice.
My first purchase of the slicer, I could not wait to try it out. The slicer is very sharp. I cut tomatoes easily but if they are soft, they cut it into mush. Next thing I tried was purple onion and it sliced great. The only problem is getting the vegetables to stay in the hand protector with the prongs. The onion was on the larger side and was difficult to stay on the slicer. I ended up cutting my thumb, which resulted in a visit to urgent care. This slicer needs a safety mechanism for the blades.! Be extremely careful. Not sure I will be using it again. Family told me to throw away.
Using this slicer has made good use of time doing my prep work. I've used every slicing option and they all worked great. Very sharp blades means less time cutting with just a regular knife. There's 4 options, thick and thin for slicing and also a thin and thick for julienne. It's helps me cut everything I need very quickly. I enjoy the safety features very much. The handles are very comfortable and the finger guard has already come in handy once already. I do however wish there was more room underneath, having to stop and clear out cut veggies underneath all the time seems monotonous. Placing it on top of a bowl or something of the sort seems like it could be dangerous. Overall its a good product that I will continue to use.
Pretty "handy" slicer. Very sharp blades. Watch out! Pretty simple and minimal pieces. I've seen some kits with just way to much going on. This is simple, easy to use and straight to the point. Perfect slices each time. Nice rubber grips. Slice them then pit them in my chopper(not part of slicer) just my own... Quick dinner prep. Perfect for hamburger toppings or salads. Works great!
In all the years of cooking, I never realized how much time I could have saved using a slicer like this. Slicing onions is what I use this for the most so that there are less tears. It is amazing. There are 4 cutting options for thick slices, thin slices, thick julienne and thin julienne. I was a little confused at first on how to place the blades but once I tried a couple times, I got the hang of it. The blades are extremely sharp, so you have to be very cautious when cleaning. There is rubber on the handle and legs which keeps the slicer in place. The top part has a nice safe place to put your hand while slicing. It is easy enough to clean, just takes me longer because I don't want to cut my hands. I do wish it had a compartment to store the blades safely. ... MoreIn all the years of cooking, I never realized how much time I could have saved using a slicer like this.
