When i took my 1 year old dog in for his annual checkup his vet said he should lose a pound. That sounds insignificant but I had gotten that same message regarding my previous westie and it was more than a pound she was supposed to lose. I checked out the nutritional value of several brands and this Purina healthy weight stood out. My Finn loves it and he will turn 3 in two months and his vet loves the shape he's in.

My dog really likes this dog food, she’s a boxer so she’s very high energy and this works well for her. She is very active but we still have to manage her weight and this seems to be helping. It doesn’t bother her stomach and after switching to this food her coat has gotten shinier. Overall I recommend trying it for your dog.

Ed was on prednisone and added a few (30) lbs. Great Danes love to hate their food, more, more, ugh I don't eat that. Purina One is his favorite so I thought we could try this at over 30 cal less per cup. It fills him up and causes lots of poop. But is he filling with empty cals then pooping and starving again? I think that's what's going on so no weight loss is likely if he's always hungry. We walk 2+ miles a day too.

Our dog has loved this dog food primarily because of the Turkey pieces. He will scoot the food all around and eat the Turkey pieces 1st. After using for years, the quality over the past several months has gone down hill. Tons of dust in the bags and in some bags you can barely see any turkey pieces. What has happened? Did something change? We do not want to change dog food brands but bags now full of dust throughout and hardly any of the special little turkey bits is not cutting it. Purina, please go back to your original formula. Rating preciously would have been high...now not so much. Purina, please ensure quality control. Our dog would be most grateful!
Ace the Aussie was very happy to get a bag of his favorite food delivered in double-time from Chewy. He loves this stuff. He especially loves the semi-moist turkey pieces and he picks those out first to eat. This food maintains his weight very well. He was on a prescription weight loss food for a year or more, lost a lot of weight with it, and this hasn't put weight back on him at all. I just wish it didn't have so many grain meal products. I know that they're "purposeful" in that they provide fiber, but I'd much rather see vegetable or grass products for fiber purposes instead of what I consider filler fiber. It does have some dried carrots and peas, but numerous grain meals are very high on the ingredients list. That's the only reason for four stars instead of ... MoreAce the Aussie was very happy to get a bag of his favorite food delivered in double-time from Chewy. He loves this stuff. I do really like that it has no artificial colors or flavors. My old pup looks great on it and seems to feel great, and the affordable price for a pretty decent quality food is a big plus as well. I do recommend.
I needed to just take a few pounds off of my big goldendoodle. She’s only four, so I didn’t want to put her on an extreme diet. And the vet recommended it. She said it would be a good food to help her lose weigh gently. It gently took an a few pounds off of her in a month or so. She really likes it. I really like that. It had rice and corn. She has always liked her other Purina One foods. She has always stayed healthy and strong. I think it’s a good food for dogs. And I recommend it to others on a regular basis. She’s my beautiful, white, goldendoodle and Purina one helps keep her that way! Would love to show you how beautiful she is but your photo taker kept us starting the photos. Sorry.
Purchased this for my 2 shihtzu, 's .this dog food has huge chucnks of the "meaty" pieces throughout the bag. Looks like you get alot more than you are with these chunks. Picture provided in description doesn't look anything like the actual food you received. I will find another turkey flavored food for my pups for weight management. One has been diagnosed with Cushings disease, the other could stand to take off some weight. They both LOVE THE TASTE OF THE FOOD. My complaint is with packaging and description of food in.
I'm trying to get the best food for my dogs but not going broke to do so. I've read so many labels, blogs, websites, and reviews my mind spins. In the end, looking for proteins with low carbs, meat without alot of filler, AAFCO requirements met, and food they will actually eat I've landed here. I had a vet tell me that the protein over 25% is plenty. I have various age levels so I have two other ( one Purina, one not) bags of food and I mix all three together. I get appetite stimulant for the old ones, chondroitin for all, DHA for younger two, and some weight control for my two chubbies. This is my second bag and the results seem to be on the plus side so I will continue with this.
My senior English Bulldog is in some serious need to shed a few lbs due to her advancing arthritis and luxated knee. Her activity level has decreased significantly, so expectantly her weight has increased. I did a lot of research and chose this because of the mix of crunchy and soft food seemed the most appetizing in the weight lose category. Unfortunately she will not touch it. It sits there all day without more than a bite attempted. We have tried for 3 days now with no success. She hunts up and down for food because she is hungry but its not enough to bring her to the food bowl with this food in it. I guess its back to the old food until we find another option.
my dogs like the pieces of turkey. one has chicken allergys so i tried this. no more itching. I must be careful because my dogs have gained weight on this food so I have been trying to find the exact amount for them to eat. I found that the guidelines they have on the bag was too much food for my dog. I want my dog to maintain her weight or lose weight not gain. I have a picky dog and she will eat the turkey pieces also.
