Excellent food for my schnoodle

This is food has been wonderful for my 14 and 1/2 year old schnoodle who suffered with digestive issues after ingesting bones as a 1 year old dog and later surviving a bout with pancreatitis caused by greenies. I believe this food has kept my dog very healthy as he is continuing to thrive at 14 plus years! The vet told me a few months ago that he was doing well for a 9 year old dog and then I quickly corrected him telling him that Napoleon is 14. He then said "he is really doing well". I do believe food is "medicine" and what we give our pets should be a priority if you want your pet to live a healthy life. I could have switched my dog off of this food at anytime, but he really loves it and remains healthier especially in his elder years. Our westie is almost 13 years old. She was a rescue puppy and has had bouts of tummy troubles since we got her. As she aged, those worsened to the point she had bloody stools. I cooked her chicken and rice for a couple of years which seemed to help short term. We tried various foods and meds but nothing seemed to offer the long term help we needed for her. A visit to the ER introduced us to Purina EN which she's been on for almost 6 weeks. She loves it and, while her tummy troubles haven't totally disappeared, she's doing much better than with anything else she's tried. I also give her a pill pocket with a powder (honest kitchen's Perfect Formula herbal supplement)with each feeding. Started both of these about the same time so not sure whether the food is the 'cure' ... MoreOur westie is almost 13 years old. She definitely feels better.

This was working wonderful on a small pom that has liver blockage. Then the company changed the ingredients all around. Old can of EN was water chicken, rice, liver, then meat by products. Which was a good food for the pom.. Then the company changed the ingredients to: MEAT BY PRODUCTS FIRST, WITH WATER, BARLEY, RICE, LIVER, CHICKEN.Now my little pom can not eat the food, she started to vomit and I had to change her to a differnt food. This is not Petfooddirects fault it is the PURINA WHO DID THE CHANGE. I HAVE HAD SUCH WONDERFUL RESULTS WITH PETFOODDIRECT.COM!!THANK YOU PETFOODDIRECT.COM!!RUBY

Good dog food that is OVERPRICED.
12 March 2022

A good canned dog food alternative for older dogs that have digestive issues. Would have given this product a five star rating however the pricing for this dog food is ridiculous along with the fact that a prescription is needed from a vet to purchase this dog food.

Great add on for sensitive digestive system....
8 December 2020

I picked up Purina EN from my local vet when my Golden Retriever couldn't hold down a normal meal, one that he was used to eating. I learned over time that if I added a bit of product to Sam's normal diet, that he had no issues. When I found I could order this prescriptive product direct from Petflow, it made my life easier and much more convenient. I now order 2 cases at a time, simply as an addition to his normal meal. Highly recommended.

My Min Pin loves this food, happy girl
30 June 2014

My dog was vomiting, and then having bloody stools, out of the blue, I took her to the vet, she had an infection in her upper digestive track, and pancreatitis, the vet didn't know which one came first, she was on an IV for nutrition, anti-nausea meds, antibiotics and hydration. Two days later she finally drank and ate; she didn't like the first food offered, but the EN, she chows down, giving her small amounts at a time. I have never seen a more perfect stool, a more playful 9 yr old dog. I used to feed her a chicken tender for dinner, but this is such a perfect food for her, it's as if she never had a problem. I highly recommend this food.

My finicky dogs LOVE this
8 December 2013

My two older dogs recently needed to go on a low fat, easy to digest diet due to pancreatitis. They have always been rather picky eaters and wouldn't eat other wet dog foods without additions (boiled chicken, turkey, etc). They eat the Purina EN straight up and absolutely love it. I am so happy! The only thing that could be improved is the can - it would be nice if it came in a flip top rather than needing a can opener - but this is small price to pay for such a great food. Since it is so dense it is a bit difficult to get out of the can, particularly if it has been in the refrigerator, but I think this is why the dogs love it so much.

My old dog loves Purina EN
4 October 2013

My old dog suffers from liver problems, (which almost killed him), and diabetes for years now, and i was having a lot of trouble getting him to eat. I was even trying to cook for him! It was so hard at meal times to make sure he ate enough so i could give him his insulin..Then I adopted a new dog a last spring, who was on this EN diet because of her 'intestinal difficulties' (recommended by her Vet). She's been doing fine on this diet.I offered some of it to my old dog, and to my surprise he Loved eating it!! No more begging him to eat or hand feeding him! So for the past several months he is doing very well on it.Plus i Love having the food delivered right to my door in a timely manner too!~~:)

Purina Gastroenteric Great for Sensitive Bowel Spoodle
23 October 2023

Our 16 year old female spoodle has always had a very sensitive bowel and we have had to be very selective about her food. More recently she has also become extremely choosy about which varieties of the veterinary wet foods she will eat. the Prina EN Gastroentroeneric has become her wet food of choice and indeed the only one we have been able to find that she will currently eat. Fortunately it seems to suit her sensitive bowel extremely well so we are very much in favour of it.

my fussy 15 year old dog eats this. A big win for me who has had to make her home made food every day. Plus has helped with her tummy issues.
