Few rums are as iconic as this classic bottling, with its famous blue label. Originally designed to replicate the Royal Navy’s own rum blend, the company was founded just 9 years after the Navy stopped its practice of a daily ration of rum for all sailors. This rum is indeed naval to its core, with Pusser being naval slang for a Purser, the ship’s supply officer. Pusser then began to be used as an indication of anything that was general issue by the Navy, such as this rum. Its authenticity can be assured, as the founder Charles Tobias purchased the rights to the original blending recipe of Royal Navy rum. This recipe includes five different Caribbean rums, based around a core of Guyanese Demerara rum. The rum itself is funky, heavy and sweet, with a superb depth of flavour. It is the crucial ingredient in the modern classic Painkiller cocktail.

I dont drink it but it is a traditional present for an Ex Matelot . Excellent delivery despite making a mockery of all those other companies blaming Covid for their incompetence in getting to grips with s difficult situation.

I was introduced to Pusser's Rum when in the Royal Air Force after a gruelling night shift clearing snow of a runway. A large tot to warm us up!!Then when I worked with some ex-Matelots years afterwards. When they told me you could but it in civvy street it was too good a chance not to buy it. I'm sure I bought it in a supermarket (Sainsbury's) a couple of years ago. I couldn't find any locally. Then Googled it and came up with DrinksSupermarket. I'm not much of a drinker but it sure is nice to have a wee tot of this nectar. Will purchase again.

Pussers rum is the original rum that was given I believe twice a day to the ratings for over three hundred years. I believe it ended around 1970. This rum is still distilled to this day on Tortola in the West Indies. Gunpowder Proof is the stronger version of the Blue Label. I will have my tot tonight after dinner.

Pussers Rum follows the same recipe as the former Royal Navy rum issue did. It has a distinctive but very acceptable taste and importantly, a financial proportion of every bottle sold is given to the Royal Navy every year and the official wording is as follows - The Royal Navy Sailor's Fund, a naval charity more commonly called the “Tot Fund” receives a substantial donation from the sale of each bottle of British Navy Pusser's Rum. Aside from the fund's original bequest, the Pusser's contribution has become the fund's largest source of income. - so I always tell people they are drinking for charity!

The Pussers range appeals to ex-Navy chaps like me and is a top quality product. Original for sippers and gulpers, gunpowder for hot drinks and coctails
