I too have used Q-tips for a long time - 35 years or more. I used to use them: as tiny paint “brushes“; for cleaning/dusting in tight places; to clear clogged nozzles on opened tubes of glue, paste, caulk, etc.; and, yes, to swab my ears, including the ear canals (I was aware of the concern/controversy about the ostensible danger of this practice, I had noted the disclaimer on Q-tips packages, and I swabbed with a very slow and gentle circular motion --- with no reluctance and at my own risk).* Now, the paint brush function doesn’t work because the sparse and weakly- applied cotton unravels when pulled from the paint, deforming the cotton tip and marring the painted area. * Now, the cleaning/dusting function works only if the “tight places” aren’t too tight and ... I adapted when the blue plastic shafts were effectively discontinued, and I continued to purchase and use Q-tips. But, the reduction in the amount and/or quality of cotton in the tips and rolled paper in the shafts has substantially reduced the utility of this product and is a proverbial deal-breaker. My primary concern is about the loss of use for swabbing my ears. I used to be able to dry my ears with a single swab (and if the humidity wasn’t too high I could do it with just one end of a single swab). Now, almost immediately after beginning to rotate a swab about in my ear, the cotton begins unraveling, I can feel the end of the shaft scraping on my skin, and the shaft begins to flex and then to bend, almost to breaking. It now takes 2-4 swabs to dry my ears. This isn’t acceptable. After decades of being not just a good product, but a great product, Q-tips cotton swabs is now an inferior product. Q-tips/Unilever, you know it’s true --- why else would you have so many reviewers writing about how much they used to like this product, and how they are now dissatisfied and disappointed with it. I doubt that there’s one of us who wouldn’t willingly pay a reasonable rise in price to get back the Q-tips Cotton Swabs that we used to get. Please fix this right away.

I have always used Q-Tips…. NEVER any other brand. We use a lot of Q-tips but will be looking for another brand as Q-Tips’ quality has gone down with every 500 pack of swabs we purchase. There is less and less cotton on them and the paper stick is very sharp. They have cut my ear numerous times to bleed. Less cotton and not as well adhered to the stick. I have noticed this decline in quality and now have decided enough is enough. I am afraid to use these on my grandkids in fear of injuring them.

I've used a lot of different brands of cotton swabs through the years. Some more expensive and some discount. I always return to Johnson %26 Johnson brand. The swab tips are well standardized so you can count on consistent padding and comfort that stays on the stick. The stick itself holds up well even when pretty wet and applying a bit of pressure. They're easier to manipulate than some brands and I think that's due to a better quality and well sized stick. I use cotton swabs for a variety of purposes, from health and beauty to crafts and cleaning tight spaces.

I have used the q-tip brand for years. It was the only brand I bought because I loved the product! The cotton tip was soft and attached very well. The stick part was strong and never bent easily. But your product now has gone down hill in a very noticeable way!! The cotton end is thin and pulls apart easily and the stick part is now a very cheap almost hollow feeling roll of thin cardboard! Why?!?! Why would you take a product many of us buy and use everyday and try and cut corners on the quality of it??? Not good!
What has happened to these? These used to be superior to other cotton swabs, but no more. The stick is so flexible that it bends when drying my outer ear!! For that, I can go buy another, less expensive brand. I have always supported and believe inQ-tip brand cotton swabs, but am no starting to wonder why. Please go back to a stronger stick that doesn't bend with normal use!!! Thank you.
I've been using Qtips for over 40 years daily to keep my ears free of wax build up. I've never had any issues until about a year ago. I used other brands in the past but Qtip was always the best. I went to clean my ears last year and almost pierced my eardrum as the swab was mostly missing on one end of the Qtip. Since then it has happened several times. Now that I'm paranoid I check them every morning before using them. I have to question what happened to their quality check. I understand mistakes happen but this is ridiculous. Over 40 years without any issues and now this. Please check your Qtips before using them.
I have used a box of Q-tips each week for the last year (no exaggeration), and I may have to good part of the rest of my life. I never realized how inconsistent and poor quality control Q-tips really has. I get on the regular: irregular Q-tip sizes, no cotton on sticks. Sticks stuck together, cotton stretching off Q-tip, particles of cotton dust all over Q-tips, and i am sure I don’t have all I have seen. I never noticed before I had gotten this disease and I am sure not many others do because they don’t use Q-tips excessively. I hope you do some quality contro; and fix it. I am a long term customer if you do
My mother used this on me and my siblings and I’ve used them on my children and my oldest is 40 years old. Well recently the W-tips have less cotton on them and some don’t have any which really hurts the ear. So now I have to inspect them all before using. And with less cotton on them it can still hurt. I feel it doesn’t clean nearly as well anymore. So in all these decades of trusting this product I am highly disappointed in the poor quality. I’m guessing whoever made this change has never used this product. I will be searching for a replacement product which I am not at all happy about doing but I am tired and stressed about my ears hurting. Less is not best. I wonder how many others are hurting their ears and worse their children’s ears. Shame on you for making ... After a lifetime of exclusively buying & using Q-tips brand cotton swabs, I am very disappointed:(. I bought a multipack as I always do from Costco. Each and everyone of the swabs is lacking the sufficient amount of cotton. They actually hurt my inner ears when using them. I do not know what happened, maybe a bad batch? These are definitely not the same as before!! Please tell me your overall quality has not decreased?
I am 61 years of age. I have always used Q-TIPS. However, in my most recent box...I have noticed an inordinate amount of cotton missing on one end of the stick. I'm about half way through the box, and I've run into at least 5 of these. I've heard that during the pandemic and inflation, companies are reducing the amount of their products in the box in order to save money. Is that what you are now doing? Or, was this just one bad batch that I've gotten in 60 years of life?
