The Silvano is a great value. It's difficult to find anything comparable in the price range of the Silvano. It's essentially a dual boiler (boiler for brewing and thermoblock for steam) with a PID for great consistency, it has a large reservoir and drip tray, great looks, nice construction and it has been reliable and consistent over the five years I owned it. My use has been primarily making one to two macchiatos (double shot) per day.I've gotten excellent help from Chris Coffee and they've always had the necessary parts in stock when I needed to do a repair. In 5 years I needed very few repairs and most were easy to do myself. You can see my more extensive review (url below) I posted on ... MoreThe Silvano is a great value. When I upgraded my grinders the espresso just got better so the Silvano was not a limiting factor.

I went with this machine for the PID and the ability to steam milk and pull shots at the same time. The pressure gauge is handy. The machine seems solid and looks like its made with quality parts, and easy to repair. Added benefits are the large and easy to access (and assess) water reservoir. Almost equally large is the wonderful drip tray. I'm a touch disappointed in the variability in steam flow (particularly noticeable when making multiple milk drinks). Solution is to run the steam till the steam heat light comes on, turn off and wait 10 to 20 sec and then begin steaming. Also, switch the steam heater off (switch on back of the machine) between drinks so the heater remains on for the next drink.Other minor issues: The O-ring sealing the steam tip gets too ... MoreI went with this machine for the PID and the ability to steam milk and pull shots at the same time. The idrinkcoffee folks provided me a replacement O-ring for this. After pulling a shot, if you don't remove the portafilter within 10 secs the puck sticks to shower-screen. This doesn't seem to be specific to the type of coffee. 'm using the 2ouble basket and grinding 15-16 grams of coffee, tamping with ~30lbs of force so I don't think its an overfilling issue.Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and the quality of drinks that we have achieved.

I have used a Silvano for the past 5 years. Last year for 4 months, I had a superautomatic machine, but I sorely missed the flavors coming from my Silvano, so I bought another one from Chris' after selling my old one. Needless to say, I am happy to be back with my Silvano. I will never sell it. I did easy maintenance on my old machine with guidance from the Chris' service department. Everyone I have talked to on the phone, chatted on this site, or emailed, has been top notch and friendly. I am a Chris' customer for life!

Hello, I am extremely happy with my Silvano Evo - I would recommend it to any friend looking for an “entry” level machine and don’t think it can be beat at the price point. For my purposes (3-4 drinks daily for wife and I) I can’t imagine a better option.PID - consistent brew head temperature! shot timer! Adjust temp for roasts! What’s not to loveGroup head - I’m using the generic bottomless E61 PF from the website. Thanks to the tech team for confirming compatibility.Warm up time - 10-15 minutes at most - great for the morning routine.Steam wand - standard tip is working just fine for me after some learning curve (zero experience prior to this). I can now consistently get great milk texture (3-4oz milk). I’m never making large lattes and I enjoy the efficiency ... MoreHello, I am extremely happy with my Silvano Evo - I would recommend it to any friend looking for an “entry” level machine and don’t think it can be beat at the price point. I can now consistently get great milk texture (3-4oz milk). I’m never making large lattes and I enjoy the efficiency in the workflow (steam while you pull the shot).Consistency - I paired it w an E5P also from Chris’ Coffee and have learned that if anything is the weak link in my process it is me. The grinder and machine crank out superb/consistent results and are forgiving enough that I was able to get the hang of it without too much of a headache.Finish - looks nice, side fill water tank is amazingly convenient.Nothing negative to say after ~250 shots through the machine, looking forward to years to come. It has been a blast to learn on and I’ve made some phenomenal espresso along the way. Thanks to the sales / tech team for top notch support!
We upgraded from a Gaggia and couldn't be happier. My wife and I typically make small lattes throughout day. We get much higher quality shots, great recovery time, and love the ability to steam while pulling shots. If there is a downside, the pucks are a little soupy, but that doesn't bother me whatsoever.
I have tried a number of espresso machines including the De'Longhi EC680M, Breville Barista Express, Gaggia Classic Pro, Rancilio Silvia, and Profitec Go. While I have been able to pull good shots with all of them and they all have good features, I feel that the QM Silvano EVO has the optimum feature set for the price range. The boiler is of a similar size to the Rancilio and the Profitec Go. Like the Profitec Go, it has both PID, pressure gauge with user adjustable pressure, and a shot timer. Where it really separates itself is having a separate thermocoil heater for the steam wand, so there is no temperature surfing to between foaming milk and steaming a shot. In fact, with practice you can do both at once. This is a common problem with consumer machines that I would like someone to solve! Even when using a bottomless portafilter, I cannot put a Timemore Black Mirror Nano scale under a latte cup. When making milk drink, I would like to have enough clearance to pull a shot directly into a full size warmed cup rather than pulling the shot into a smaller cup and then pouring it into the cup.
I did a LOT of research before purchasing a machine at this level. I almost (almost!) fell for a Silva but at the last minute I accidently learned of the Silvano--I was sold immediately. The Silvano offered everything I was looking for: PID, continuous/simultaneous steaming, solid build (thick gauge SS body, robust metal switches), well-thought out design features (58mm portafilter, large drip tray, easy-to-see/fill water reservoir). Moreover, it's just a gorgeous piece of hardware--the photos look good, the real deal looks great.Functionally is perfect and the steaming ability is better than I hoped. My only criticism at this point is that the holes of the double filter basket are off-center--not sure if this matters but it's a surprising flaw amid a sea of ... MoreI did a LOT of research before purchasing a machine at this level. I've been making espresso drinks at home on various entry level (<$200) machines for years. After doing tons of research, I finally decided to take the next step and through down some cash on a ECM Casa V from another popular online vendor. The Casa V couldn't heat up without tripping the high temp fuse, so after a lengthy return process with the other vendor (which I will not use again due to the hassle) I bought the Quick Mill Silvano from Chris' Coffee. The Silvano was easy to set up and has been awesome since day one. From the side loading water basin to the easily accessible pressure control to the solid/heavy build quality, the Silvano is perfect for my level of use (6 drinks/week) and the space, under cabinets. Upgrading from a Breville Infuser, I really love this QM Silvano! The Breville steamed 6oz in about 70 secs, this one does it in about 40 secs! Still a thermoblock, but higher power. Pros: beautiful look, well built, and sturdy with serviceable components. Cons: stainless steel had some rough edges that could cut you. Solved this by using emery paper to smooth it out. Also manometer was not securely mounted, kinda loose. We'll see if they can fix this. Otherwise, great machine!
I've had the Silvano since March 2013. What a great espresso machine! Very nice, all stainless steel construction, very solid and reliable feel to it. I mostly make straight espresso shots, with only the occaisonal cappuccino. The steaming capacity is OK but not massive, so if you want to crank out a bunch of cappas at a big dinner party, Silvano is not the machine for you. For me, with one or two lattes a weekend, it's just the ticket. My favorite feature, apart from the ability to make lovely espresso, is the compactness of the Silvano. It can fit comfortably under the cabinets with plenty of room for cups on top, and the water reservoir is easily accessible from the side. Oh, and if you comparison shop, nowhere can you find a PID controlled, all stainless steel dual boiler espresso machine for under $1,000!
