Really disappointed with this jacket. I bought it back around the end of April and had it out in some rain, nothing too extreme, and it held up ok, but did seem to soak around the sleeves and hood occasionally. I didn't see it as a huge issue at the time. However, this past weekend I brought it with me while I was hiking Ben Nevis and after only an hour and a half, maybe two hours of rain, it completely wet out and soaked through the entire jacket. I loved the weight and packability of this jacket but it let me down when I needed it most. For a jacket that lasted me 4 and a half months it certainly isn't worth the £115 price tag.

This jacket provided ample protection in fairly heavy rain and 40-50mph winds at the top of some of Dartmoor’s tors.After several hours in the rain, there were places that looked like they were beginning to wet out (hood, shoulders etc) but no moisture made it through.Adequately breathable and pit zips provided enough ventilation that it was comfortable to wear even when walking hard and as the weather brightened up.Fit was great for me, with long enough arms and body for a long/tall person. Lightweight, not too crinkly and not all that expensive either. All in all, a very capable shell layer.

This might not be the right jacket for you, but it's perfect for me. It's not considered the most waterproof of jackets, but it doesn't rain much where I live. It's held up under a 35 minute steady rainfall. I wanted something quiet, light, stretchy, soft, breathable, and comfortable, and this excels at all of these priorities. It's form fitting, as I have an athletic build, but not quite as tapered as that other big brand. Otherwise it provides just about everything that famous brand does, but at a lower price point. I'm hooked on Rab.
Though the product code (QWG-82) matches what the Rab website says is a men's jacket, this jacket has the zipper on side expected for a woman, has a slightly slim fit around the waist, and has higher pockets than most men's jackets. So, in essence, it's a woman's jacket.That being said, it looks fine on a guy and none of that bothers me enough to send it back.The jacket is not absolutely waterproof, but few things are. It works fine for my purposes so far, but will probably get another jacket for backpacking trips. I also won't buy Rab again due to the fit.
I've really been let down by Rab. I literally just purchased this jacket, and due to having faith in the brand, didn't try it out prior to heading to the Patagonia's. On my first one day trek, the coat was wet through within an hour of relatively light rain. Infact as soon as it was raining, it was clear it wasn't repelling any water, whereby my girlfriends cheaper branded coat had droplets falling off it.I've now got a 5 day multi-day trek ahead of me with this coat where there is guaranteed to be rain. Its one thing buying a poorly made coat, but it's so much worse when that coat will ruin your trip.

Fast shipment from Sunandski. Don't need a helmet size hood, no need to pay more. Hood works good. DWR good, water from a hose reflected off. Plasticky backing on Downpour my least favorite silky of Pertex shells (durability up though). Far less crinkle than 3L GTX, AShell, but stiffest least silky for Pertex. Material wise, i think breathability was compromised compared to more expensive or less durable options. Wish it had mesh pockets.

I have to say I was really impressed with the wind proofing protection of the jacket, most of the run was on very exposed areas for long periods of time with 50mph winds and hail battering me, the jacket stood upBrilliantly to the test. As for the waterproofing side of the jacket, I purposely went out into the Peak District when some heavy rain was forecast, the coat held up pretty well after a day on the hills In torrential rain. I bought this jacket for wet urban walking and cycling. It has done a great job: I appreciate the construction and design, Rab's sustainability is a plus, and it is effective at keeping me dry. This is a great all-around jacket for a reasonable price. My complaints are:- The outer layer wets through very easily. Even in the snow, and especially in the rain, the shoulder fabric will be saturated quickly. I have only had the inner membrane wet in the heaviest of rain after several hours of exposure.- The main zipper is so frustrating. It snags on its flap and the inside membrane so easily, so I have to run a finger along to prevent jamming. It got stuck on my shirt and tore a hole in it.
