The Rab Men's Neutrino Pro Jacket is built to provide maximum warmth and protection for expeditions, in alpine conditions, or simply against extreme cold. Its weather-protective outer shell and premium water-resistant down insulation equip it for whatever Mother Nature throws at it. The exterior of the jacket is constructed of lightweight Pertex Quantum Pro ripstop nylon fabric. Though not completely waterproof the jacket does provide excellent weather-resistance for snow and spindrift and ensures windproof/breathable protection. Warmth is provided by ample amounts of lofty, lightweight, and compressible 800-fill ethically-sourced, RDS-certified goose down. Unlike traditional down the jacket's insulation has received a Nikwax treatment that helps it stay dry longer dry faster if it should become wet and most importantly continue to insulate even if it does become damp. An insulated and adjustable helmet-compatible hood extends protective coverage and bolsters warmth. The hood has a built-in brim that has a bit of structure to ensure that you maintain a clean line of sight while still fending off glare and precipitation. Other features include a full-length, two-way front zipper with an insulated storm baffle, adjustable cuffs, a zippered internal chest pocket, and insulated handwarmer pockets. A stuff sack is also included so you can safely stow the jacket in your pack when not in use. Available in your choice of size and color options, the Rab Men's Neutrino Pro Jacket is designed to leave plenty of room to comfortably layer beneath it.

Warm Warm Warm ... It's so nice going out in sub freezing temperatures with only a single base layer and the Neutrino Pro Down Jacket! The windproof level is astounding for skiing and riding and it continues to impress me the colder it gets. I don't climb mountains, so I can only simulate 70mph winds by riding a snowmobile and this Jacket more than lives up to the task. Incredible wind breaking potential for a down jacket. I wish it was just colder all the time ... LOVE the Aspen Green/Zest combination. Blammo!

Very warm, lots of down (295g for a L), good coverage around the backside and the chest pocket is great. Zippers are perfect. Fit is a little boxier if you are a slim person and it is meant for layering. Coverage around the face is poor and does not zip up over the chin and the removable hood makes the neck area oddly bulky. For the money you will not find more down in a coat, however.

I'll start the review by stating I haven't been able to use this down jacket yet... it's May, so the weather is getting warmer and currently a lot of the places I'd use it are shut down to help encourage social distancing. I hope I can use it before absolutely all of the snow melts and then amend the review.I can comment on some of the things not related to the performance or durability though. For starters, the fit is great. As a reference, I'm 5'8" and around 160 lbs. I commonly have a hard time finding garments that fit in the chest and shoulders. Or if they do fit, something else is off... maybe the girth of the garment is huge, or the sleeves are too long. I usually land somewhere between a size small and a medium. After years of having a hard time finding clothes that fit, I've found those few brands that work about 99% of the time in one size. This was my first RAB garment so didn't know what to expect in terms of sizing. And, I intend to use it while on belay so then there's the question of whether or not the jacket is already cut to go over other layers. I've had a few garments from UK and EU companies (RAB appears to be headquartered in the UK) and find I normally land solidly in size medium. Same was true here. I was happy to find that the medium fit me well all over, and it fit over other layers with ease. On top of that, it's not overly puffy, which I like. I don't want a lot of bulk. Some other features / lack of features to mention... no 'storm cuffs' or whatever they're called - the inner cuffs at the sleeve that help to keep wind out, I suppose? I prefer it this way, without them. I've cut them out of other jackets before. I find them annoying and that they catch on my gloves. Drop-in pockets for gloves or water bottles... this jacket doesn't have them. Would be kind of nice to have them. Deal breaker? No, not when it's so hard for me to find things that fit. The color... I went with Beluga... a really nice blue but I might wind up doing an exchange for black, just because I like black so much.Overall, glad I gave this brand a try and it will be another of my go-to brands when I'm looking for product.

I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 195 pounds. The XL gives me enough room to layer over a down vest and a thick flannel shirt. The Neutino Pro is my everyday winter jacket for around town and dog walking. The adjustable hood is excellent, the sleeves have good length and the body length is just right. It feels light and doesn't restrict my movements. I've worn it in temperatures from 0 C to -25 C, I think 0 C to -20 C is the sweet spot for this jacket. I would prefer a thicker nylon shell for durability but it's not fragile. I'd also prefer the outside pockets to be lower and the cinch for the hood should be on the outside. Even though there are a few things I would change every time I wear it I'm happy to have it on.
Im short, 174cm but I have broad shoulders, picked size L and not dissapointed, probably could use size M too but I like it the way it fits. This jacket is extremely warm, tried using it during some mild activity outside at work (I’m a photographer) at -15*C and ended up having to unzip it fully. At this temperature the only thing needed is a baselayer underneath. I really like the jacket and at least in Finland, I will never be cold again.
This jacket is a rockstar and has kept me warm and comfortable as an ice climbing belay jacket in Colorado, sub 0 days on Washington and Canadian mountains. Put it to the test while high altitude climbing in Peru. With very cold temperatures and steady pace and high wind this kept me cozy with just a smaller soft shelled jacket under. Super glad I had this. Feels like wearing a cloud!
I did a lot of research before buying this jacket. I wanted something light, warm, packable and sustainable. This jacket fits the bill perfectly. What I especially like about this jacket is that you can use it as much in the city or in the mountains.Perfect weight for low output activities in cool/cold weather or high output activities in very cold weather. The hood is removable which makes it layering under a shell even less bulky.I was debating between this and the electron, but found that this one was a little warmer (yet a bit less packable). Since this will be my everyday winter jacket, I wanted something on the warmer side.Great work Rab
I last had a down outer garment when I was a teenager, but now I wonder why I waited so long to get reacquainted. There’s something magical about wearing something that you can barely detect that keeps you so warm.I tried on and returned this RAB model. It’s a great jacket, featuring a truly useful hood that fits the head/face very well. However, I embarked upon additional RAB product research, and I settled on the Infinity jacket for improved wind resistance, increased insulation weight, and its differentiated shell construction.I’m a 44-45 chest, 38 waist, 171/2 neck and 34-35 sleeve; the XL fit me about perfectly.
After some extensive research on down jackets, I discovered this Rab Neutrino Pro Jacket and opted to purchase it. I'm so glad that I did.On a guided climb of Mt. Rainier earlier this year, I rented a down jacket for summit day. Following that experience, I wanted to purchase my own jacket for similar expeditions in the future. I'm excited to take it on a Mt. Hood climb next year, but here's what I've noticed so far...On a recent windy, 15 F day in Minnesota, this jacket kept the wind out quite nicely on a day hike in a regional park. Similarily, I stayed plently warm on a -8 F morning walk in North Dakota. Similarily, I stayed plently warm on a -8 F morning walk in North Dakota. With any temperatures above freezing, wearing this jacket during moderate activity led to me feeling a little bit too warm (which is not a problem since I intend to use this jacket mainly during rest times, or during light activity in below freezing temps). For context, I coupled this jacket with a baselayer, light-weight and mid-weight layer underneath. A size Medium in the Rab Neutrino Pro allowed me to easily fit these layers underneath.Pros: This jacket is very lightweight and yet the finish of the fabric on the outside makes it feel durable (time will tell how well it holds up, but no tears yet). Great loft and warmth for my needs.Cons: An outside chest zip pocket would be a welcome addition, though this is not a deal breaker. When using the front pockets to keep my hands warm, a little extra draft is let in, leading to my core not feeling quite as warm as when the pockets are zipped shut.
On sizing, I am 5’10”, 175 pounds, 40” chest, 32” waist. Medium was a nice fit with room for a sweater. Like the length and hood. Odd to say - but with so many jackets having weak zippers (Arctyrex) the zipper on this jacket is robust! Zips great and feels hearty! This is a great jacket to wear on bitter cold days. I have no suggestions on improvement. Worth consideration!
