This is ideal for dog walking. Bought it for my partner, it fits well leaving plenty of room for layers underneath. It has been road tested on some typical british weather (p-ing it down) and it has totally stood up to the rain. Actually, once home you can shake most of the beaded water back off. Its so good I bought myself one. If I had to pick a hole, I would say no inside pocket, but this is a minor issue for what is a great rain jacket. If you get a bit warm the pit zips add some ventilation, but this doesnt feel plastic baggish like some rain jkts. Would totally recommend.

About as waterproof as toilet paper.I really like the look of this jacket, and it blocks the wind very well. However, since the very first use it’s been comically non-waterproof. Water never beaded on the surface even when brand new, and it can be rung out after an hour or so of light rain. Perhaps this one missed the waterproofing treatment?? Also the zip catches constantly on the flap that goes over the top of it. Dissapointing.

This is so close to getting the full 5 stars from me. The only flaw is the main zipper which always gets stuck and always catches the inside lining material. How that passed quality control I'll never know. Even though the main zipper could be better I decided to keep it as I do like the jacket and other than that feels like it's high quality. Also managed to get it on sale with a good discount. I don't think I'd pay the full RRP for it.Other than that it's a nice super lightweight stylish jacket that can be worn during the milder months.I would advise in getting 1 size up from your normal size so you can layer up.

Good quality lightweight outdoor jacket which folds up very small. I bout this Rab jacket, recommended, by a friend to replace a very old lightweight jacket that is easy to travel with, and for non heavy duty use. Quality appears good and it is lovely and light weight and seems well made, from a well-trusted UK brand. I have moved all my outdoor gear purchases to the fantastic independent UK Trekkit.
I bought this jacket few weeks ago in our local Go Outdoors store. Today was the first time I wore it in rain and when I took it off after a 2 hour walk my fleece was wet and so was the inside of the jacket. As I was walking I could see the outer fabric was initially repelling water but after a while it just started getting soaked through. I was hoping the water would be stopped by a membrane but it didn't. I just can't understand how you can justify selling a relatively expensive garment like this when it's clearly useless. I have never had a Rab item before and I will definitely not buy again.
My son initially loved this jacket. It’s lightweight, looked great on and was waterproof …. for about three months. When we initially returned it to the store thinking it was faulty they advised us that it needs regular washing and reproofing. We tried that but found that you really have to reproof monthly to be sure to have a waterproof jacket, which is just not feasible. We feel that the jacket should be marketed as water repellent instead of waterproof. Not sure why it’s called ‘downpour’ when it doesn’t keep you dry unless you invest time and money in very regular reproofing. Have now returned jacket and got a voucher from the store as they admitted that the way it’s marketed is misleading.
so had this coat for about 6 months now, not really had the opportunity to really test the coats waterproof ability until today 3rd July 2023.myself and my wife completed a small hike 2&half hrs and during this time the heavens opened up for a good 30mins. so I thought I was well equipped with my so called waterproof jacket when in fact I could feel the water coming through. by the time we got back to our car I was soaked through, my Mountain equipment trousers kept my legs dry and my feet were dry with my walking boots but my top half was soaked through. No before you say it was sweat, it wasn't this was completely wet through, needles to say I was very disappointed. My wife has a Mountain Wearhouse waterproof coat which cost half as much as the Downpour and she ... I purchased this jacket for a winter ultra that I took part in on a section of the Pennine way. I have to say I was really impressed with the wind proofing protection of the jacket, most of the run was on very exposed areas for long periods of time with 50mph winds and hail battering me, the jacket stood upBrilliantly to the test. As for the waterproofing side of the jacket, I purposely went out into the Peak District when some heavy rain was forecast, the coat held up pretty well after a day on the hills In torrential rain. When I got back to the car my clothing underneath was a little damp but nothing too disastrous. It stood up pretty well to say that the coat is on the light side. Really liking the Rab Downpour Eco very much. Jacket is a good fit, I purchased a small (being slim build) & it still leaves room for multiple layers underneath. It’s comfortable & lightweight, yet excellent at keeping out the wind & rain (haven’t worn it in very heavy rain). Jacket also packs down into it’s own pocket & takes up little space. So far very pleased & would certainly recommend.
I tried this on and returned it immediately. I'd describe it as a Slim or Alpine fit, definitely not "Regular"! This is especially important for a jacket that you will often wear over other layers.Other than that, the jacket seemed pretty nice. The sleeves and back were good in terms of length. The zippers and snaps felt like good quality. The hood adjustment seemed well designed. The material felt similar to other high-end waterproof + breathable membrane shells that I've had, although I didn't do any testing on the waterproofness.
