It honestly doesnt even feel like you're outside when you're wearing this jacket. You CANNOT wear this jacket indoors or above like 40 degrees, its just too warm. Going through multiple airports you see hundreds of people wearing puffy jackets primarily because those puffy jackets that theyre wearing suck. Difficult to wear rain jacket over it though because its very, very puffy, so you *might* need a medium rain jacket if you dont want it to compress the down at all. Quality of the jacket is superb and what you'd expect for this price, very well made. It doesnt necessarily *feel* robust though, so i wouldnt take this thing hunting through the brush or anything, but for most other activities i think it'd do just fine.Buy this jacket.

Another winner from Rab. Bought in addition to spring/autumn jacket already owned. Very lightweight so comfortable for long walks. Lovely and warm, plenty of pockets and fastenings to tighten waist, neck and cuffs. A note on the fit, it does come up large but not so large you can size down. I understand the body being bigger to allow for layering but not sure why the sleeves are at least 2” longer? Tried the smaller size and couldn’t do it up.

Excellent quality

I bought my Neutrino Pro 13 years ago and not much has changed in terms of the build and material used.It has seen winters all over the world and has never left me wanting. The insulation quality is second to none and coupled with excellent fit properties I have been able to go out in below zero temperatures with nothing more than a base layer underneath with the confidence this piece of kit will perform to my needs.I have tried other brands and products over the years to see if any match up but I find myself coming back to my neutrino time and again.I'm just sad it's nearly time to recycle it.

Great for trek to K2, skiing and hiking in Cascades
27 December 2023

Got this jacket for trek last summer to K2 in Pakistan for staying warm in camp. Did well with temps down to low-mid 20s F. Also used for late season backpacking with temps to low 30s in camp and kept me warm - and light and compressible enough to fit in ultralight pack with total weight of 27 lbs. Now I am wearing it whenever I get a chance - even for walks in city! Features like hood and its adjustment, zippers, waist cinch, high neck are well-designed. Fabric is strong and shed light precip. Love it.

Missing Stuff Sack from Premium Down Jacket.
20 December 2023

Purchased the Neutrino Pro, not direct.I love the jacket but was shocked to discover that the stuff sack was not included despite it being a premium jacket.Yet the video on the page for the Neutrino Pro mentions that the jacket *includes* a stuff sack. Now I have to buy one separately so that I can attach it to my pack (my other stuff sacks are too small)...Customer Service explained that buyers seldom have use for them, yet I cannot help feeling a little cheated, like they're skimping on production costs.Overall very happy with the jacket but left with a sour taste in my mouth...

Neutrino Power
7 March 2024

Had this jacket before and got taken by a friend. Got it back in this flashy colour. From all the REB and other brands, the Neutrino is unsurpassed in warmth, quality & price. It is a phenomenal yet simple jacket. Very lofty, easily compressed and very warm. From more expensive brands to the Neutrino’s siblings from RAB, this jacket has always been and still is a winner. It has been tested on extremely cold environments and chilling tempetkres to less than -40C without ever feeling cold.

Single mid-weight piece

I was searching for a jacket as a second heavy layer for winter camping. I read the reviews and looked at the temperature specs of the neutrino pro and thought that it might do the trick. It ended up being too light weight and lacked the loft/warmth I was looking for for this application. HOWEVER, I wish I had purchased this as my daily winter jacket, as it has great warmth and loft for how lightweight it is, and the style is nice as well. I find all the rab products are generally well designed, and think this would be a good layer to have on while moving on cold winter hikes and alpine ascents. I'm deducting a star purely because I don't think the jacket is as warm as advertised. So good I bought 2!

As a travel photographer who often spends long periods in the backcountry standing still waiting for the light, it's been a struggle to find a downy that both fits right, retains body heat and looks awesome. Obviously looks come last, but this is a great looking jacket. I'm 5'11/175lbs with long arms, and this is the first jacket I've found where the body AND the arms are both right. The armpits fit high, so mobility is amazing, the hood customization makes for an actually usable hood, and overall I don't have a single negative thing to say except it'd be nice to have some better water resistance on the shell so I wouldn't have to pack a backup shell to pull on over if the weather turns wet. (Yes I know the Batura comes that way, but it's a completely different ... MoreAs a travel photographer who often spends long periods in the backcountry standing still waiting for the light, it's been a struggle to find a downy that both fits right, retains body heat and looks awesome. Anyway, I love this jacket so much I bought 2, fearing they'd do like other manufacturers and change the fit in the future (which hopefully they wont). Also, it'd be nice if they brought back the blue on blue color way -- in my opinion it's the sharpest of the colors they've done in this one.

Super Awkard Sizing

So I've got other Rab jackets that I really love (which is why we're all here), but this one fits... very weird. I'm 5'9" 185 lbs, and more on the stocky side (read: not very lithe build). I wear a large - the arm length is good, the chest is fine, and so is the overall length of the jacket. However, the arm diameter is HUGE. Like, I can fit my thigh in there, and it looks super goofy at a profile. I also can't see how this would be solved if you were any taller. So, I'm not sure if you're all wearing like 2 hoodies underneath this, or you've got 28 inch biceps, but it just seems like a design mistake to me. I guess I just can't understand why I might need to layer so heavily for a coat (that's not a pro grade expedition jacket) that has such a high level of down ... MoreSo I've got other Rab jackets that I really love (which is why we're all here), but this one fits... very weird. Just two basic hand warming pockets and one tiny little, oddly placed stash pocket near the neck. Probably other such jackets out there at half the price (i have one).

Very warm and light
7 February 2024

I am going to compare this vs the Axion. Neutrino warmer and lighter. I like the fit of the Neutrino more. The design of the shoulder vs Axion is better and more flattering imo as its squared. I dislike the collar on the Axion. As the hood on the Axion can be removed they made the collar very bulky and I just find it uncomfortable when seated with the collar pushed up against the back of my neck. The Neutrino has +1 inside pocket. I wear size M on the Axion but S in the Neutrino. I wish the Neutrino had elasticized wrist cuffs but I can make do with the velcro straps. I like the exterior chest pocket on the Neutrino more.
