This is a little known gem lurking in Iceland of all places. It's a generous mouthful from the Algarve and typically of some depth for a red from a hot climate. Full-bodied, and balanced tannins and alcohol, mainly dry with just a hint of of sweet, black cherry fruit and more besides ...not just alcoholic blackcurrent juice much favoured by Brits who seem not to prefer Old World variations in wine style. Very 'Potuguese' then, outstanding value for the money asked that has been £5.50 before today, on offer.. It's available at the Iceland outlet at the Algarve Shopping Centre just north of Albufiera. Big bonus to come home and find it on the shelf of my local shop. If it had been 'free' it could have had the extra star.

If you're sick of the pepper in Shiraz, or would like something similar body but different; give this a try.Good length, full bodied, easy drinking wine.It sells itself, well it and the rest of the shelf.Give it half an hour in the fridge before opening for a slight chill, a true quaffer.
