If you plan on playing live or recording and you use an Acoustic/Electric, Bass or Keyboard you must use a DI (Direct Input) that sends a balanced signal into the mixing board or computer. You plug your cable that comes out of your guitar into the box and then a balanced XLR cable comes out of the box and goes into the mixing board or interface. I have used every DI that has been made. Cheap ones, expensive ones and embellished ones. There is no better DI then the Green Radial passive DI. Hands down the best one ever made. No change in your sound, no distortion, no clicks or static. The best. Period. Built like a tank. It’s a lifetime purchase. Every engineer will smile when you break out your DI and they see it’s the Passive Radial Green Box. Just what you'd expect, from a company like Radial! Compact, built like a tank, beautiful looks, and solid functionality!I am a pro musician, and play upwards of 50 dates per year. I purchased this to ensure that forgetful bassists and acoustic guitarists are always able to be heard. You won't find a better, more reliable, D.I. in this price range. I've used this as a DI for my band's "silent stage" setup for about 5 years. Our sound man recommended this one. He said he tried others but they died. I've been using this DI on my pedal board without issue.

Build Like a Tank
30 November 2019

Radial makes great boxes that do all the practical signal routing that most companies don't offer. Though this is a straightforward DI, and lots of companies offer them, I'll always go for Radial because of the build quality, both with circuits and chassis; I've been using Radial for years with no issues. I'm primarily a live performer, and I need reliable gear; this DI fits the bill.

Everything you need in a passive DI
9 October 2019

Radial products, but especially their passive in-line products are a joy to use. Simple settings, easy to understand connections, fantastic sound. Everything you want, nothing you don't. We used this for a small house concert series we promoted in Utah. National touring acts constantly commented on our ability to make our small system sound fantastic and several recorded versions of their music performed through our system, all involving Radial Passive DI boxes.

Excellent DI for the money

We use several of these at our church and they use much better quality transformers than the sub-$70 alts. Result is better sounding instruments, better dynamics, and overall lower noise floor.

This direct box is working really well for plugging bass guitar directly into a PA. Provides a great signal and would be the go to for us moving forward.

It works well
25 February 2018

Let me start by saying that I record in a noisy room with noisy power. I have a few guitars that do NOT have great ground and they pickup a lot of 60 cycle hum and EMI. I was hoping this DI would solve the problem but it did not get rid of all the noise. That being said, when I plug in a GOOD guitar with GOOD ground plus use good guitar cables this pedal does a great job for direct recording and reamp'ing. The signal is clean as heck and I get a lot of tone on my tracks. In regards to my guitars that have ground problems I guess I will be pulling maintenance on them and shielding a few too.

Quality Sound
14 May 2018

My church's worship director leads with a $1800 Martin with a built in Fisherman active pickup but the tone was just ok in the system. Then we bought this. What came out of the house speakers was very close to the natural sound standing beside the Martin while they play. Dead silent too. I really don't see any reason to get a more expensive DI. If you need a DI for your acoustic that runs on a 9 volt battery you need to get this passive DI. It's worth every cent.

Solid DI
26 June 2017

Very solid DI. I traded in a Radial J48 Active for this at GC because I needed a passive DI for video work when at times I am not using a mixer. You cannot go wrong with this DI. Yes it does not have a Jensen transformer but I'll bet you would be hard pressed to tell the difference sound wise. Because I'm a pro audio geek I took the case apart and checked out the construction. It was very well laid out with first class parts.
