I own a lot of Railblaza gear, purely because their range seems to cover nearly every functional requirement I have on my kayak. Some of the quickset holders are a little faster to access, but I like the secure hold provided by the latch on these holders. Some of my most solid strikes from big fish have occurred while the rod is in the holder and I'm reaching for a water bottle, rigging another rod or just generally zoning out. When those big hits happen, it's nice to have the security of a sturdy holder to ensure your rod doesn't leap over the side of your kayak. If you add the angled rod holder extender, you can achieve the perfect rod position for rigging, lazily bottom-bouncing or trolling. I am out every weekend and usually have a full day on the water, so my gear is punished. My yaks are also loaned to beginners or people wanting to test my gear, so I need to know my equipment will meet my expectations, while also making the experience more enjoyable for my tag-alongs. The rod holder itself appears nearly unbreakable, although I've had a couple of the sliding latches fail on the Starport base. Spares are available at a low price and I cannot think of another rod holder which would have survived as long as these. For a few dollars, new latches were on my Starports and they were like new again. Maintenance is as simple as a quick hose-down after hitting the water, mostly just to loosen up any deposits which may sneak into the locking mechanisms and tighten up the fit. After many hours of punishment, a little squirt of silicone helps everything move a little easier and reduce friction when removing the holder from the Starport. Don't use any petroleum based lubricants on your Railblaza gear, or anywhere near your precious kayak. Nothing is perfect, but these rod holders come very close!

Much nicer than the Scotty product, and if you get the Starport HP mount instead, a much lower profile mount if you’re doing a non-fishing trip and don’t need the holder mounted. The included mount can be used in either a low profile (more hole cutting, more secure) or high profile setting. I have one mounted in front of me, and the adjustable angle means I can switch it to vertical, and troll with a rod in front of me instead of behind. Gimble at the base caters for different length rod handles. Secure lock on base. Bought more of them.

Awesome bit of kit. Fits the rail of my Ocean Kayak perfectly. Holds my rod well. Very happy with the product. Very sturdy.
I bought these Railblaza rod holders for my new boat, I previously had the same rod holders on my old boat which I traded in on the new one, I have been using the Railblazas for years, they are without a doubt the best quality ones that you can buy. I would not use any others.
Fantastic item. Holds my rod securely and has the extra lock slider for ultimate security. Very happy with this item.
Perfect for my purposes, especially when using two rods, trolling or bait fishing. Mounted on the gunwhale (gunnell) of my Old Town Saranac 146 canoe. I chose to add a Railblaza Slimline Kayak Track because I wanted to change the holder location along the gunwhale. I also added my own cord leash to prevent overboard loss of the holder when adjusting.
Normally I don’t bother replying to these feedback requests but on this occasion I’m more than happy to provide feedback on this product. This is my first experience using Railblaza products and I’m more than happy with my purchase. Amazing quality, simple to use, easy install. quality screws and bolts are provided with the product and all Railblaza products are interchangeable. I will definitely be making more Railblaza purchases in the future. Highly recommend this brand.
Rod holder works perfectly on my torpedo 13 freak kayak used it on a couple of trips already and definitely worth the money. THANKS FREAK
These holders are build of high quality ABS and are well made with strong components. I expect excellent longevity. I had some trouble with my first one where the twist lock mechanism became stiff and difficult to use after a few outings. A light sand and some silicone lube fixed it nicely so I happily purchased a second. Mated to a Railblaza swivel mount, these holders are the boss! Freak Sports, as I've always experienced from them, provided exceptional customer service.
