Rain Bird 42SA+ Gear Drive Rotor
This professional grade Rain Bird 42SA+ rotor sprinkler features superior durability plus exceptional watering uniformity of patented rain curtain nozzle technology, resulting in a greener and more even lawn with reduced watering time. The rotor distributes larger water droplets that cover evenly throughout the pattern, also reducing wind-blown overspray. Nozzle micro ramps direct a portion of the spray near the head, adding gentle close-in coverage with reduced watering velocity that won't wash out new seed. Simple top adjustments for arc and distance help you keep water on the grass, not spraying on the house, sidewalk or driveway. The rotor also features a rugged dual-action, positive stop wiper seal that protects internals from debris and, together with a heavy duty stainless steel spring, assures positive retraction for leak-free performance. It installs on a standard 19mm (3/4 in). riser for simple replacement of older rotors.

All three sprinklers adjusted differently once they were hooked up. Nothing consistent about any of them. I would've taken them back but I had to finish the project

I've replaced most of my original sprinkler heads (professional RainBird &/or Hunter) w/this one. It's easily adjustable & does a good job of coverage. Also, we are on a well & there's a lot of iron/gunk in our water. This model is easily disassembled & can be cleaned, a big plus. Good quality & value.

Even after following the instructions we could not get this to work right. Adjustments didn’t work as advertised. Ended up buying two that didn’t work. One wouldn’t even thread on more than two turns. I eventually bought a different brand that worked perfect.

Gets the job done on distance and amount of water it can lay down in a given time. It isn’t very durable if you have dogs that like to get water from the sprinkler head. The cost is a little ridiculous I payed about $12 a head. They used to be $9 a head. Overall if you don’t have a dog and have to replace a bunch they are good sprinkler head.
Exact replacement for sprinkler heads damaged by my lawn service company who carelessly ran them over with their aerating machine. I even placed flags at each sprinkler. But I digress, they are great sprinklers, easy to adjust and install. I've had these for years and never had a problem with them. (Just don't run them over with an aerating machine!).
Good and sturdy. Spray distance and angle are very big and easy to adjust (need to have 2 screwdrivers with me). Spray is also strong and wind resistant. Perfect for my square backyard. Highly recommended!
Just bought and installed a 32SA rotor to replace a broken Orbit 3. It is an inferior product. To adjust the left fixed position, you need to dig out the entire unit and rotate the case. The Orbit 3 allow the inner spigot to be rotated. Does not need to be dug out. Buy the Orbit even if a few dollars more.
I mount these on tripods to water a large yard. All my other Rain Birds are the 32SA but thought I would try this one. It's a 3/4 mount rather than 32SA 1/2-inch and I was informed it wouldn't shoot any farther. Boy was the 'expert' wrong. It really does cover more area. If you have never tried Rain Bird rotaries, you are missing out. They get everything wet over their full reach yet sre gentle on seedlings. I wish I coukd get the tripods without impacts already mounted. Got a bag of the dang things.
RAIN BIRD IS AN EXCELLENT AND FAMOUS BRAND NAME. HOWEVER THIS 42SA+ POP UP SPRINKLER IS JUST TOO DIFFICULT TO PROGRAM AND INSTALL EVEN AFTER TALKING TO IN STORE EXPERTS, CALLING RB TECH SUPPORT STAFF, VIEWING RELATED YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND DOING ALL I COULD TO RESEARCH THE MATTER OVER A MONTH OR MORE. I AM SINCERELY DISAPPOINTED AND I'M DEEPLY SORRY TO HAVE TO WRITE THIS REVIEW. I LIKE RAIN BIRD PRODUCTS. I HAVE OTHER RB SPRINKLERS THAT WORK WELL AND HAVE FOR YEARS. I WAS ADVISED BY RB TECH SUPPORT TO RETURN THE 42SA+ POP UP SPRINKLER HEAD TO THE STORE. IN MY OPINION, IMPROVEMENT IS NEEDED FOR THIS PRODUCT.
superior quality, a product that lasts. we are replacing our 15-year-old rainbird sprinkler heads after re-landscaping. these are the best for large yards
