You've probably read all the positive reviews on this lure from the saltwater anglers who posted before me. Let me tell you, it works great in fresh water as well. I purchesed my first one prior to leaving on one of our annual fly-in trips to northern Ontario. I wanted a larger lure capable of reaching 30' to drag through a long bottleneck between the two lake basins where it reaches depths of 40+ feet and large Pike are known to reside. That orange & chartreuse Hot Head pattern caught a 45" Northern on its first trip down to the depths and has continued to put big, deep-dwelling fsh in the boat on every trip since. It's tough as nails, standing up to numerous Pike teeth & bouncing off all the boulders in the area with barely a mark on it. Thanks again Rapala. This lure has one of best baitfish profiles of any on the market. Coupled with the great action that can be achieved with the correct retrieve. This is a great lure especially in the back bay for bass and blues. And down south it is perfect for snook, redfish, trout and even tarpon. Absolutely amazing lure.

I purchased the 21/2" model for Reds and Trout. I am not adding the 3 1/2" model to my supply. If you fish skinny water (shallow) this is an awesome bait to catch trout and reds. Especially if you twitch this bait with your rod tip low to the water. Pace your twitching method, twitch, let it set, twitch again. The strikes are very aggressive. If fishing really skinny, simply raise your rod tip and twitch, pause, twitch. Bites are hard and hook set is no issue. What I really like is during time of release, you are not dealing with treble hooks which in return makes releases much easier. Excellent lure for the cost! You will not be disappointed.

Caught schoolie stripers in the wash first time out. The X-Rap lure is well made and casts fairly well for a lightweight lure. It has strong saltwater-ready hooks, so can be used straight out of the box. Also ideal for back-bay shallow waters.
High quality stick bait that came with very good single hooks. Casts great. If you could only have two lures then a dark and light coloued variation of these lures would pretty much do it. I am going to try this one out this weekend and see how it goes.
I'm relatively new to lure fishing so this review is written fromthe novice perspective. It's a great shallow to mid water water lure for those open water and ambush predators. Still figuring out the best way to fish this lure but I guess that is half the fun with lure fishing. The colours look a little different on th elure inthe hand than they do in the picture, more natural up close than the pics.I would recommend these lures and would buy again when they go on special.
Catches nearly every inshore species up and does the east coast. I think the best place to use this lure is down south for Redfish and trout but it works for a whole list of species. I use this lure mostly in the Northeast and it's great for back bay stripers and blues. This lure also works well for bass in freshwater applications in shallow water.
I have been using the bone chartreuse (2348382) this early spring around mud flats and bridges. The lure casts great and has tremendous zig zag action. I fish it with 3 or 4 moderate cranks and a slight pop to break the water surface. Exactly like i fish my super strike darters...Been having a blast hooking up from 16"-26" on a 7' medium action moderate rod.
I have almost all the colors they sell. I use them for grouper fishing in the North of Peru. I try several colors every time I go fishing. The bunker is for big groupers, the dorado and blue mackeral for dark water, the silver for smaller ones, the hot head always works for 10-15 pouders. They swim well and they catch huge groupers. Try them and enjoy the fighting.
the fishes' opinion is more important than mine and they seem to like it. casts well, appealing darting motion when retrieved properly. quality single hooks make fish handling easier, more lures should come with single rather than treble hooks.
