I purchased one of these just to try it out. It's a very capable micro controller. I used it to read temperature and humidity values from a sensor and log those values to a server on my home wifi network. Using the Pico with the Arduino Editor, I was able to reuse code that I had developed for an ESP32. The Pico can also be programmed in micro python. I am not familiar with that language, but most of the online tutorials use it. You will need to solder headers onto the board if you wish to use it with a breadboard, but it is easy to do. Pick one up and have fun!

Microcenter sells this board at a good price. The Pico W is a fairly fast microprocessor board with a lot of RAM. The size is very small. This Pico W model includes WiFi. It can be programmed several ways. I have use microPython and circuitPython and both worked well. Raspberry Pi also has a C program IDE for it. And an enthusiastic user has created a way to program it in Arduino C++

The Pico W is a good addition to the Pico line. It's a capable and affordable board with a lot of possibilities. The addition of Wireless (and hopefully eventually Bluetooth) to the pico opens up a lot of potential applications. I wish that the wireless had been integrated into the RP2040 a la an ESP type microcontroller, rather than an additional chip on the board, but that's a minor thing. As usual, excellent service from Pimoroni.

While the global chip shortage has severely impacted the supply of Raspberry Pi main boards and Zeros', the availability of these brilliant, versatile boards has been almost constant. This has accelerated interest in them, and the focus of the maker community has produced a plethora of interesting and innovative designs around them. Although they are fundamentally a different beastie (a microcontroller rather than a micro-computer), I have found them a better fit for a lot of my projects. The almost instant start time is a real game changer, for instance, I had made a Pi Zero based system to control some large lengths of Neopixels, I used to have to wait for the Pi to start up - then auto-run the program. Very easy-to-learn microcontroller. With little code experience, it was no problem for me to learn some basics in micropython. The documentation for this board is great and easy to access. Recommended for makers, and tinkerers and also simple enough for a child to learn. The addition of wifi on this model opens up a whole new bunch of possibilities when crafting your projects. Not to mention they arrived the day after I purchased them. Huge thumbs up!

With the global shortage of Raspberry Pi boards, I thought I'd try a Pico.It arrived just 2 days after I ordered it, and gave it a go.The instructions are comprehensive, and I found it very easy to build the examples and deploy the binaries.I have now built a couple of my own projects; one is a volt meter, using a voltage divider to measure the charge level of a 12v battery, and the other displays the temperature on a 1602 LCD screen.Great fun!

Another great product from the Raspberry Pi Foundation! There are so many possibilities of things to do with the new Pico W, it's almost overwhelming. Not to mention it's surprisingly powerful, I have already had this do complex input averaging with impressive speeds. I ended up going the Micro-Python route which suited my needs. My only criticism would be the lack of native Bluetooth support, and wishing they had chosen USB type C as a base connection. But I guess that's being overly picky, considering the price point. Overall very pleased and very likely I will buy another.

I recently got my hands on the Raspberry Pi Pico W and I am extremely impressed with its performance! The Pico W is a compact, low-cost microcontroller board that packs a lot of punch. The RP2040 chip provides ample processing power for most projects, and the addition of Wi-Fi makes it incredibly versatile. The board is easy to use and the MicroPython programming environment makes it accessible to both beginners and experienced users. I love the small form factor and the fact that it can be powered by a single USB cable. Overall, the Raspberry Pi Pico W is an excellent choice for anyone looking to get started with microcontroller projects or add Wi-Fi capabilities to their existing setup. I highly recommend it!

There's a LOT of hardware in this little thing. The PIO is spectacularly promising. Wireless works well and as advertised. Not my first rodeo with microcontrollers or programming languages by a long shot but this is the first time ever touching micropython (or python, even). I am impressed--zero issues picking up the basics on this. Thonny works and works well as an interface to this micro. This might be the sweet spot I have been looking for to build into small mobile robots.
