Awful sound quality and limited compatibility

Unfortunately to use the sound card I needed to use the included mic/headphone splitter, but doing so disables the mic since Razer only wants you using their sound card on their $100+ headsets. My only option to use both the mic and headphones is to use the front IO aux on my PC and deal with the abysmal audio quality.Overall, can't recommend this headset unless you've got an actual dedicated sound card in your PC, but if you have one of ... MoreThe good things about this headset are the 7.1 surround sound and the comfort, but that's about it. I'd recommend the Logitech G432 instead, its cheaper and has better audio quality. The only reason I bought this at all was because I needed to take my G430 to work and needed a headset for home, and I mistakenly thought this would be an upgrade.

I would NOT recommend buying this headset if you intend to register it for support or to access the 7.1 surround app. I just bought the headset 3 hours ago and, for the price, I am satisfied with the technical qualities of the product. I am NOT happy with the DIFFICULTITIES in registering the headset and the potential impact of using the product afterwards. To register the product, you need the Serial Number which is found under the left ear cushion. A Youtube WARNED HOW HARD it was put the ear cushion on and they were not kidding. I thought I would have no need to take the ear cushion off so was not worried. I should have paid attention to my initial impression. I am still trying to get the cushion on and may end up returning the product.

Great Headset The Price

For $50 before tax these are awesome lightweight headphones. The sound is great too with Razer's three part drivers delivering highs mids and lows. There are some nice rumbly subwoofer feels with certain sound effects. As a bonus it integrates with Razer's software on PC to provide accurate 7.1 representation in the headphones. There is no RGB but it is nice to see the headphones pop up as part of the Razer ecosystem. The mic sounds fine, it's not studio quality but it is clear. Speaking of, that is the only real con for a casual (but long sessions when I do) gamer such as myself. The mic doesn't detach. It bends every which way and doesn't feel like it's gonna break at all but it can get in the way for most daily use of no mic is required.Overall - comfortable ... MoreFor $50 before tax these are awesome lightweight headphones. So after an expensive pair broke and no replacement due to warranty expiring, I needed a quick replacement. My local BestBuy was limited on options so went ahead and purchased these thinking I still wanted Razer but also save a little cash. These aren't terrible, but don't expect any noise canceling and the green cable probably isn't everyone's style. The sound quality is ok but that's about it. What can you really expect for $60 though? Haven't tested out the microphone yet. What I do like is how light they are. They're all plastic so that probably helps that but I'd imagine long gaming sessions to be a breeze. The mute switch is conveniently on the headphones themselves (not the cable) which is great and the volume adjuster on the ear cup is a welcomed addition. ... MoreSo after an expensive pair broke and no replacement due to warranty expiring, I needed a quick replacement. Having the option to also for switch volumes of both game and chat is a really nice feature I was expecting to lose with a cheaper pair of gaming headphones.Overal I'm relatively happy, but if you're one of these that need a little more depth to the sound and the ability to hear footsteps, etc.. Maybe splurge a little more.

The drive unit of the Razer Tornado Black Shark V2 is also equipped with a titanium-plated diaphragm, which can make the human voice clearer and is suitable for maintaining a clear communication environment with teammates.Similarly, Razer HyperClear's sharp noise reduction cardioid pointing microphone's excellent sound pickup effect, and the strong support of the software part, can also further enhance the effect of voice communication. And the microphone has a detachable and fool-proof design, which can be easily removed when the player does not need voice communication and wants a more refreshing wearing experience. In general, the Razer Tornado Black Shark V2 priced at CHF 61.7 has wide platform compatibility and is comfortable enough to adapt to long-term games. Did a lot of research and this was the best headset I could find somewhat close to my price range. They're very comfortable and work great! My friend can hear me better than before, so that's a plus.If you're looking for better sound quality, this is good, but probably not the deep rich tones you might be looking for. The 7.1 surround sound isn't too great for movies/music, but I find it's pretty nice for ASMR.Also, not sure if it's just for my laptop specifically, but after installing the 7.1 surround sound, it messed up my laptop's audio functionality. By that I mean if I try to use my speakers or noise-canceling headphones, they no longer work as they used to, having a muddied echo to them followed by petering off to a quiet volume. Even after uninstalling it and everything, the problem is still present. At least this headset isn't affected in any way, just a bummer I have to exclusively use it now to listen to stuff. So that might be something for others to watch out for.Other than the issue the 7.1 surround sound caused for my laptop, this headset does work wonderfully.

Pros:- Microphone quality is significantly better than I ever imagined it would be (friends hear me loud and clear which carries over to any video recording I make)- Simple to use, just plug them in and you’re set. I always found wireless headphones/sets very inconsistent but with these there is no crackling or dropped audio at any point in time.- Game audio is great. Much better than I was expecting. Another foot in length would have been nice but it’s an acceptable length- Since there is no wireless connection you can’t listen to songs or watch a video on a separate device while wearing them or in a party chat with multiple people.I play both single player and competitive multiplayer games and am very pleased with the performance for both, especially since I can hear everything around me when I need to but also be able to maintain clear communication with teammates/friends. I owned a professional studio headset a long time ago and the Razer Blackshark V2 are the only headphones in years that I’ve personally used that haven’t caused buyers remorse.I absolutely recommend them.

They're nice. They feel light on the head and cover my (smaller) ears comfortably. They have a good feel and when paired with the software on PC, they sound great! To verify just how much effect the phone was having, I tried the headset these are replacing and the other set I have. Those were 70 and 75 dB on the phone and high 80's on PC. This tells me the software is giving these a significant boost - which is fine if all you will ever use them for is gaming. Unfortunately for me, these are also meant to replace the headphones I wear at night watching movies - which is over a 3.5mm jack.To be fair, these are marketed as gaming headphones - though I'm not sure how they sound on a console - my kids only left me the PS3.I'm giving 4 stars for the comfort and the great sound on PC. If they weren't as good as they are there, they'd go back. They just don't sound quite good enough or get quite loud enough (for me) to use as an everyday headset for my phone. For those who are unfamiliar with what a 10 dB difference sounds like, 60 is a loud electric toothbrush and 70 is freeway traffic. Also, listening to prolonged sounds above 70 dB is bad for your ears, kids!
