The Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is a great full size wired mechanical keyboard. Typically sought after by gamers, I think it is also a nice everyday keyboard for heavy typing or general purposes. Out of the box it comes with a magnetic plush leatherette wrist rest, 2 USB Type A to Type C cables and an info guide. As a wired keyboard, it uses those cables to connect to the computer and then it is ready to use. There is 1 USB Type A passthrough. The keyboard is a uniform black color. It is 18.3 inches long and 1.73 inches high. Without the wrist rest, it is 6 inches wide and weighs 2.49 lbs. With the wrist rest, it is 9.35 inches wide and weighs 3.37 lbs. I would highly reccommend downloading the Razer Synapse app early on which will provide a wide array of RGB options and custom modes. The RGB for this keyboard is per key and the wrist rest also has customizable RGB underglow. I find the intensity and color of the RGB to be perfect with sharp color contrast. The keys have green mechanical switches which means it has a clicky sound. Pressing the keys isn't that loud and I didn't notice it after the first minute. The keys are doubleshot ABS keycaps which are not my preference for keycaps but work fine. The keyboard includes a multi-function roller with four media keys. It also has a command dial with eight dedicated macro keys which are customizable. The default macro keys are set to keyboard brightness, zoom, switch apps, track jogging, track selector, vertical scroll, horizontal scroll, and switch browser tabs. But, each also has a secondary mode that is implemented by using the function button. There are so many useful features that can be tweaked to what a user needs that it feels great to have those kinds of shortcuts. I tested the keyboard with games and with typing and it feels great for either purpose. Using the wrist rest as a base felt natural and added support. Key travel seemed very normal, although the space bar seemed to press down with a different resistance. Overall, this is a great keyboard with almost every feature that a user could ever need to customize their experience. The Synapse software is easy to use while adding a high level of customization. I would reccommend the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro for gamers specifically, but also for all users generally.

Add in the highly customizable RGB lighting and this really seals the deal as a top tier product.Feature wise, the first thing that will jump out to many people are the two wired USB-C connections coming off the back of the keyboard. Razer has made an interesting choice here to add a passthrough USB port while keeping to the lowest possible latency for both keyboard and passthrough port - there is not a USB hub involved in this connection. The connection for the keyboard itself can be configured up to an 8000hz sync rate, and the passthrough port is straight through as well for the lowest possible latency when used with a Razer hyperspeed 2.4ghz dongle. As a result, I was able to clean up my desk a little by having plugging my Viper 2 Pro's dongle into the keyboard rather than having to have a USB dongle hanging somewhere else out of sight but within range of my mouse.Another unique feature of the BlackWidow V4 Pro are the MANY extra keys which can be configured for pretty much any function you can think of. To the left of the main keyboard section are the M1-M5 macro keys and the customizable dial at the top left of the keyboard. On top of being customizable, many of the functions you can program to these keys can be stored in onboard memory so you can use them even if the computer is not running Synapse. That's incredibly useful to me as I use my keyboard both with my corporate owned laptop for work as well as my personal gaming desktop - and obviously I can't install Synapse on the corporate PC. There are 3 additional buttons on the far left edge of the keyboard which are incredibly useful as well. By default they are mapped (top to bottom) to the windows Screen snip hotkey (normally Win+Shift+S), then the Xbox Game bar (Win+G), and finally the windows Task View interface. I honestly don't know what I'd use the task view interface for with my personal gaming machine but this is something I use all the time when working so these features are a godsend. The only complaint I have with them is these 3 buttons on the left edge are very sensitive and that's normally where I set my phone when sitting at my desk, so I kept tapping them inadvertently at first. Definitely not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind. The RGB lighting on the BlackWidow V4 Pro is impressive and extremely responsive. The extra lightstrip that's built into the edges of the detachable wristrest is a pretty cool addition if a little meme-worthy :). I used Synapse to create a custom lighting pattern that layers a few things on top of each other when using with my personal PC.I also wanted to draw attention to the Razer Axon software that's available for Windows PCs. I admit to not really being much of an RGB guy in general, but I have been playing around with the Chroma enabled desktop backgrounds for the last week and there are some cool choices. If you have an all-Razer desk this might be even more enjoyable (my only Chroma accessories are the BlackWidow and the Goliathus extended mousepad). A side note about the wristrest - this thing is PLUSH. I love it.Finally, can't do a keyboard review without talking about the typing experience itself. This is a premium mainstream keyboard at a premium mainstream price. Razer's made the choice to cram in a ton of extra features beyond a standard 104 key unit. Some other brands have keyboards approaching this price with fewer features which will include PBT keycaps. Razer has kind of hedged a bit with the keycaps. They are still ABS, but they are doubleshot ABS with an interesting textured finish on the top of the keycap similar to what you'd get on a PBT set. For one, the keycaps do feel more premium than the basic ABS ones on inexpensive keyboards. Two, the doubleshot nature should mean they hold up better than less expensive boards where the enamel can chip. Finally, the texture is supposedly going to hold up better than standard ABS keycaps that begin to show oil and wear pretty quickly. After a week of use, I am not seeing that shiny finish you get after using a standard ABS keyboard, so I'm impressed there. I will probably still buy the Razer PBT keycap set you can buy as an add on, but I'm not rushing to do it. The Razer Green switches feel pretty much like any other basic clicky switch. Actuation is smooth and the click is nice and audible which I prefer. I've read some complaints about consistency of the tactile bump + clicky sound on this keyboard and I did not find it to have these issues. Pretty much every key sounds and feels the same on my board. I have zero complaints about responsiveness of the keys when gaming or typing for work. Two thumbs and 8 additional fingers up for the BlackWidow V4 Pro. It's basically the perfect keyboard for my use case.

The signature Razer Green switches are a perfect fit for the keyboard with their low latency and responsiveness. As a fast typer, I could really shine without being held back by keyboard constraints, and everything about the keyboard from key spacing to the slightly textured finish minimized typing mistakes. Coupled with an incredibly low actuation force and distance, typing on this keyboard is a breeze. The slight ergonomic curve and optional padding are also greatly appreciated, significantly increasing comfort for longer keyboard usage. When it comes to gaming, it has every bell and whistle a keyboard could need, from programmable custom keys and sliders to customizable and beautiful RGB backlighting for every key. While it is an expensive keyboard, the premium nature shines through every aspect of the product.

This is the first Razer keyboard I have used and so far I am very impressed with it. The first thing I noticed before even taking it out of the box was just how heavy it was. Then when I actually got it out of the box I realized it was because the keyboard is just built different than most others. The housing appears to be all metal/aluminum and all the knobs are top quailty feeling liked solid aluminum pieces. The buttons are remappable for whatever functions you want as with most keyboards. Right now I just left them defaulted for the ones above the keypad to mute or play whatever media I have open. There are also buttons on the left side of the keyboard to access hotkey functions and by default seem to map to screenshot, windows game bar (for me is the xbox gamebar), and quick window access or the multi-desktop toggle. They are sensitive so I do sometimes hit them unintentionally but you can disable them. Overall the software to remap the colors is ok, unless you have all Razer products though it doesn't really see anything else like my PC which is an ASUS ROG with lighting but requires the Asus software to manage it and isn't seen in the Razer software that I have been able to figure out.Overall I am love the feel of the keys on this keyboard and the mechancial clicking that it makes. If you aren't a fan of that then stay away from this keyboard. If you do appreciate it and have other Razer products then this will fit nicely into your Razer Ecosystem to coordinate the lighting effects.

The Synapse software allows you to get as wild as you want with it, so you can play with it to your liking. The Blackwidow V4 Pro interested me for the volume/music controls plus the Macros. I didn't even notice the side buttons, that can be programmed to open specific tasks, I like to snip things quit a bit, so I have the Snipping tool set on one of them which saves me from having to press "Windows + Shift + S" I haven't got too much into the Macros as of yet, mostly playing shooters at this time, but waiting for Diablo to release which maybe then I may invest some time to learn to set them up as I look to put some time in to that game. The Razer command dial has a few options to it, I've left it primarily on RGB brightness incase I ever want to make it dimmer, the keyboard comes preloaded with settings for the dial, pressing it changes between presaved functions, each having a different color. The Keys themselves are super responsive, and give a good clicky feedback. The keys themselves aren't too loud to the press, but have a satisfying feedback to know you've pressed the key. They got a good balance, not too loud. The wrist rest is much more comfortable than my previous wrist rest on my previous Razer, but isn't at all plastic like others on the market. There is a very comfortable padding to the keyboard itself, and doesn't feel to get sticky with sweat over a gaming session thus far. The one thing the macro row taught me, is that I will use my pinky on the edge of the keys such as shift/CAPS to tell hand position on the keys. If I take my hands off the keyboard I found myself hitting the CAPS key quite a bit, initially, thinking I was hitting a letter key. I figured out what I have become accustom to, and have begun to adjust, not a flaw of the keyboard just something I noticed that I do which having the row of macros to the side threw me off.The keyboard has two detachable USB-C Cables that plug in to USB-A Ports on your PC. You have a USB-A port next to these that you can use as USB extension, which I believe what the second cable is for.Overall, I have been a fan of the Razer accessories I have, and this was a nice upgrade to my setup. My previous keyboard is still in great shape, and am currently working on a build for my boys to game, so that will go to them. Thus why I don't mind spending a little more on a keyboard with the extra functionality, because I know this will last for years!

The major feature of this keyboard is that the keys are all programmable, allowing you to customize the keyboard to your liking and have a more personalized gaming experience. The Chroma RGB lighting is another standout feature, which can be changed through the Razer Synapse software, where you can choose from millions of color options to make the keyboard a visually stunning addition to your gaming setup. The lighting can be synced with other Razer Chroma-enabled devices, adding to a more immersive gaming experience. The keyboard is full size and is sturdy construction that provides a comfortable and durable platform for extended gaming sessions. The magnetic RGB wrist rest is also a huge selling point, while helping with reducing wrist fatigue and allowing for a more relaxed posture while gaming, while also syncing with the RGB on the keyboard is a great feature. In terms of connectivity, the keyboard has a wired USB-C to USB-A connection, providing a stable and reliable connection, and the inclusion of USB passthrough that allows for easy access to other USB-C to USB-C or USB-A devices. Tip, make sure you plug the USB-C cord into the far right port or you won't be able to use the keyboard, if you plug it into the passthrough port. The multimedia knob on the left of the keyboard allows you to control 4 different settings with the RGB brightness, Windows Zoom, Switch between applications, and Track jogging. While these are great, the synapse software does not allow you to change the Knob settings to your liking. Along with the Knob on the left side of the Keyboard are 3 programmable macro buttons that you can decide what they do to better your gaming experience.Overall, the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro Full Size Wired Mechanical Green Switch Gaming Keyboard is an excellent gaming keyboard, packed with features that enhance the gaming experience. Its durable construction, tactile switches, customizable keys, and vibrant RGB lighting makes it a great pick for any gamer looking for a high-performance wired keyboard.

It has greatly enhanced my reaction times and improved my overall gaming performance. The construction materials and quality of the BlackWidow V4 Pro are outstanding. This keyboard is based on a durable aluminum frame which is not only sleek but also feels exceptionally sturdy. The keys are slightly textured to provide a comfortable grip that prevents slippage during intense gaming sessions.Another wonderful, feature-filled aspect of the BlackWidow V4 Pro is its customizable Chroma RGB lighting. There are also dedicated multimedia keys and a multimedia roller for volume. After saying all that about the keys and functions, really the coolest feature of the keyboard is the customizable RGB lighting. The effects that can be created are infinite. The Razer Synapse 3 app is required to do any of the customization, whether lighting or keyboard function. There are ten preprogrammed lighting effects. Each can be customized, and they can be layered. For example, I started by using the wave effect that flows across the keyboard from one side to the other, I added static on top of that to make my WASD keys a solid color, then added Spectrum cycling so the keys were constantly changing colors. The colors can be customized for each effect. (See photos.)The keys are Razer's own mechanical green switch keys that click when pressed. They take just the right pressure, they're sure and responsive. The keyboard frame is aluminum, not plastic, and an attachable leatherette wrist rest is included. One feature that I'm scratching my head over is the pass-through ports. You can connect a device to the keyboard USB type A port, then connect the keyboard USB type C pass-through port to the computer. You're still taking up a USB type A port on your computer. The keyboard comes with 2 USB type A to C cables. It would have been better if they included a C to C cable to give a little versatility of port use.Notwithstanding the above, which takes away nothing, this keyboard is fun, functional, terrific looking and worth the price even though it's a little on the expensive side.

This software unlocks a world of customization, from RGB lighting adjustments to button mapping and macro programming. The software also offers game-specific RGB layouts, which automatically activate when you launch a game. For instance, launching Overwatch triggers a vibrant, game-reactive lighting layout that not only looks stunning but also provides valuable in-game information. The Q key, for example, flashes when your ultimate ability is ready, providing a visual cue that can give you an edge in the heat of battle. The BlackWidow V4 Pro is a joy to use, with each key press delivering a satisfyingly crisp response. The default lighting reaction to each key press is akin to a visual narrative, providing information about the function of the scroll knob based on its color setting. The play, mute, and advance media buttons seamlessly integrate with the overall lighting layout, reverting back to it shortly after use. The keyboard also offers two sets of stands for a 6 or 9-degree incline, catering to your comfort preferences. The wrist pad, adorned with bottom surround LEDs, adds an extra layer of lighting immersion to your setup and is as comfortable as it is visually appealing. However, the keyboard is not without its quirks. The side buttons, preprogrammed for tasks like switching desktop layouts or taking screenshots, can be accidentally pressed when moving the keyboard. This can lead to unintended commands being sent to your desktop. Despite this minor inconvenience, the side buttons add to the keyboard's functionality and can be a useful feature for those who can adapt to their placement. In conclusion, the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is a remarkable piece of hardware that justifies its price tag with its robust build, extensive customization options, and immersive lighting effects. While the wrist pad's durability remains to be seen, the keyboard itself is built to last. This keyboard is highly recommended for those who prefer a full-sized keyboard, don't require wireless functionality, and have the necessary expansion slots for passthrough devices. The BlackWidow V4 Pro is not just a keyboard; it's a testament to Razer's commitment to enhancing the gaming experience.
