Adequate, but loud

The keys are responsive and click, and the keyboard looks amazing. What's not amazing, though, is the sound it makes. I know its mechanical, so I expected some clackiness (and even enjoy clackiness to an extent), but this is really too much. Not only is there a loud, hollow plastic-on-plastic sound that the case seems to amplify and echo, there's also a mechanical springy "pang" sound that accompanies each press. It's truly awful; if you're at all sensitive to sounds, then this keyboard is likely unusable without headphones. Also, one of the keys snapped off. No idea how this even happened; I picked it up to move it and the "1" key just sorta fell off. I was able to super glue it back on, but even so, I'm worried about the longterm viability of this thing. For $50-ish, it's fine, I guess. The keys really do feel quite nice. For normal retail price, though, it's an absolute swindle.

When I plugged this thing in, the keyboard prompts a page for you to customize the keyboard in a variety of ways. Color me: I was surprised how much I enjoy the colors in a variety of ways. I actually never use the keyboard strictly in white as I previously thought I would. Dislikes: I would prefer a numeric keypad and for the keys to be spread out just a bit. Easily one of the best gaming keyboards you can get. Ive had a total of three Razer keyboards. The first was one of the early Black Widows, the second was an Ornata V1, and this Huntsman Elite being my most recent. From my experience with these three keyboards, the Huntsman Elite has been the most pleasant. Granted, being an elite version gives it some inherent pros that basic editions dont have dedicated media buttons i.e., pause, FFW, RWD, and mute buttons, a volume wheel, and a wrist pad though the basic Ornata comes with a wrist pad too, so this pro isnt exclusive to Elite editions. What the Huntsman does have that to my eye is objectively different and better than other Razer keyboards Ive had is listed below Better keyboard design. Other keyboards are all susceptible to getting crumbsdust in the keys, but the Huntsman doesnt have this issue. Generally, keyboards have depressions for lack of a better term that the keys go into which allows dust and crumbs to accumulate. Meanwhile, the Huntsmans keyboard is solid with no depressions Better build quality. Every other keyboard is usually made of tough plastic, but much of the Huntsman is made of metal except for the keycaps and media buttons Better RGB lighting. Since the Black Widow is an older keyboard, its lighting was definitely less bright and pleasing. Though, the Ornatain terms of quality of the lighting, are on par with the Huntsman. Where the Huntsman shines is in how many places its lit up. Its wrist pad and the bottom of the keyboard is lined with an RGB strip that gives an overall more deluxe lookIn terms of the actual keys quality, I dont have the perceptive ability to notice much of a difference in terms of latency or anything like that. Generally, from all the Razer keyboards Ive had, theyve all been good with similar quality. Soundwise, the Black Widow had that OG, loud mechanical keyboard sound, the Ornata was definitely the quietest something I really liked personally, and the Huntsman is somewhere in between the two. The only reason Im giving this 4stars instead of 5 is because of the sound of the keys which is purely a personal preference objectively speaking, the Huntsman is a 5star keyboard. If the keys sounded more like the Ornatas Id personally give this 5stars. Again, this is a personal preference, objectively a 5star.Note Razer is VERY iffy with their quality control. Ive never had a bad keyboard from them, but maybe Ive just gotten lucky. However, Ive had quality differences with their headsets and mice ranging from simple exterior build problems i.e., peeling rubber linings to hardware problems i.e., scroll wheel perceiving a downwards scroll wheel as an upwards one and headsets no longer playing sound. This isnt a dealbreaker for me personally, because I can always return faulty products, but this is something consumers should be aware of before purchasing from Razer.

Lately Ive been looking for a replacement for my Black Widow at my home battlestation as it was located in my master bedroom, where the clicks could be disturbing to others late at night.Enter the Huntsman Elite Linear Optical Switch Keyboard.First, Its important to note that the Huntsman elite offers two different switches1 There is the traditional optical switch, the fastest actuation of any non custom made gaming keyboard and2 the linear optical switch, a smidgen slower in actuation than its forefather but nearly 90 quieter. At my local bestbuy the Razer section there had an attachment to its displays that showed all 5 current Razer switches currently in production models. I was able to compare the optical and linear optical switch side by side and the results were nuts. I could barely, if at all, tell that the optical switch was a bit faster and I might have imagined it as I knew going in it would be the fastest, but the difference in noise of the linear optical switch was night and day.Another bonus that I hadnt bothered looking up was the overall difference in size of the keyboard. The Black Widows have an additional bulk to them that I suspect had to do with the original product design. The Huntsman is significantly smaller yet offers all of the same features along with a much more user friendly ability to control media sound with a scroll wheel located in the top left. Its built solidly out of metal and the product feels well made and well designed.Keystroke on the linear took all of five minutes to get used to. I suspect the key spacing on the Huntsman is a mm tighter than the Black Widow but I didnt notice any issues with extended typing. The only two cons I cant mention are1 lack of a usb port this was standard on the Black Widow and I did like having it but the sheer amount of space saved doesnt make me miss it all that much2 The wrist pad feels softer than the black widow pads. The black widow pads have a tendency to disintegrate with time replaceable through razer directly so Im curious to see if this one performs better, the same, or worse than its forefather. Additionally, since the wrist pad itself is RGB enabled, I suspect its replacement will be costlier than the original Black Widow pads. Time will tell and Ill update this review accordingly.Regardless, I have no regrets over this purchase. Its sleek, insanely fast, very quiet, upgraded interface, and better overall RGB lighting than the Black Widows. It is most definitely an upgrade over the previous generation of keyboards and will be a mainstay of mine for years to come.

I havent felt a keyboard this precise since the old IBM keyboards of the 1970s and 80s.Again Wow This is exactly what I was looking for I tried a number of other gaming keyboards. All were good, but this one simply felt the best.Bringing it back to the office, installation was easy and flawless. Its worth mentioning that it does require two USB ports. This is not a problem for me as I have a USB hub and docking station.Plugging in to the ports, my HP Spectre360 immediately recognized the keyboard and produced a welcome screen for me to download the software. The software provides a wide selection of settings and adjustments but is remarkably easy to use.As a business user, I certainly dont need all of the flashing lights, but to be honest they are so cool I could not resist setting up custom chroma profiles. Basically, you can make the lights and colors do pretty much anything you want them to do. The chroma set up allows you to build layers of lighting features in a method that reminds me of Photoshop. The one thing that my old Logitech keyboard had that I liked was a dedicated button for the Calculator app. It is something that I used several times each day. While the Huntsman Elite keyboard does not have this, I was able to create a macro and remap the pausebreak key to perform this function. Took a little bit of research to figure out how, but it wasnt difficult. After several days of using this new keyboard I am as thrilled as ever. The keys are silky smooth and have a precision that makes it a pleasure to use. One thing worth mentioning is that the keys are very clicky which I personally like. However, If you share an office with somebody, I could see where they might find the clicking to be a bit annoying. The overall build quality of this keyboard is superb. It is heavy and feels very solid. The volume control on the right side of the keyboard is perfectly placed and is very useful.I have only one complaint about this keyboard. On some of the keys that have a dual function for shift, such as the colon and semicolon, the markings on the key are upside down from the norm. The nonshift function is on the top and the shift function is on the bottom. And only the nonshift function is illuminated see photo. Its not a big deal as I am primarily a touchtypist, but it seems a little bit stupid. All I can say is I wish I knew but such an excellent keyboard existed years ago. I think this company should market this product to business people like me as well as gamers.

Razer Huntsman Mini is A Home run in my eyes

I feel like I hit the Jackpot with this keyboard. Its so hard to find white components for PC's that are high Quality. The Razer Huntsman Mini carries the brand's standout optical mechanical switch keyboard. With each key's light feel accompanied by premium double shot PBT keycaps, it can be great for both gaming and typing. I will have to advise against installing the Razer software. You can simply activate gaming mode by pressing function key +U. The Razer software has A few bugs that need to be straitened out before I will attempt to re-install. A lot of people compare this to the Ducky 2 MINI, Since I snagged this from Best Buy for half the price of the Ducky 2 mini and this being an all white keyboard vs the blue enter Key on the ducky II I figured this ... MoreI feel like I hit the Jackpot with this keyboard. Even if the ducky II mini did not have the blue key I would of went with Razer regardless. Using Razer mechanical keyboards at work and at home with clicky optical keys keys is perfect with me. I feel that Razer keyboards have build quality that are built to last If you feel the need for that .15 MS faster response time to compensate for your slow reaction time when playing Apex or War Zone then by all means get the linear switch version. I find this keyboard to be more then enough for my needs. Even after 2 weeks I am able to navigate fine when writing code without having the standard arrow key's.

Some getting used to the 60% but worth it.

I had my eyes on this keyboard. Once it went on sale, i pulled the trigger. It is a big difference coming from a BlackWidow V2 ultimate with green clicky switches. I tend to play games at night and the clicky switches were annoying me by making me paranoid everyone could hear me. (initially bought it when I played in the daytime, it scratched my itch for clicky) The majority of the keys have dampening, I cant remember if these are lubed or not. RandomFrankP on youtube has a great tutorial on a couple of cheap/free mods to make it even better. The bigger keys (shift, enter, backspace) could do with the bandaid mod. Out the box, it is excellent for a quieter experience. Smaller keys have a dampened "thomp", bigger keys have a "thimp". Only comparison I have is a Ducky ... MoreI had my eyes on this keyboard. Just more satisfying.

The most satisfying THOCCS

This is a fantastic little keyboard. Everybody is going for the minimal setup these days and you can't blame 'em because it looks so clean. The RGBs are really nice if you're into that. Fully customizable in the Razer Synapse app. I like to see what other people come up with in their lighting setups, which can easily be downloaded and imported to your own keyboard. I highly recommend choosing the linear switches if you don't like loud clicky clackies. The sound is so quiet and satisfying. I did end up returning mine only because I was missing having arrow keys and a numpad. I ended up getting the huntsman elite with linear switches. I will say the full size huntsman elite keys are noticeably louder, if you're trying to decide between the two. I'm honestly thinking ... MoreThis is a fantastic little keyboard. I'm honestly thinking about purchasing this little guy again to swap out from time to time. If you're already used to the 60% size, this thing sure is a winner. Catch it on sale and you won't regret it!

The Razer Huntsman Mini is the definition of SMOOTH. Firstly, the optical switches, whilst having a short travel distance, really do actuate at the speed of light as they say. And the linear switches. Don’t get me started on those! They. Feel. CREAMY. They are so smooth that they compete with butter in terms of smoothness. And the onboard profiles give me really nice RGB effects out of the box. If you are after a keyboard that does the job extremely well, this keyboard gives you everything you need as the foundations for an excellent keyboard. One simple recommendation is to lube the switches’ stabilisers so they don’t rattle, but you just won’t notice it in game really. Overall, this product not only single handedly saved my desk space, but also saved my eardrums ... MoreThe Razer Huntsman Mini is the definition of SMOOTH. Yes, there's light, but in the wrong place.

The problem with this keyboard is that the design doesn't accomplish the whole concept of a "lighted" keyboard should be. When you say lighted, most people are looking for a keyboard where the letters, numbers and symbols are back-lite so they themselves are illuminated so you can see them in a place with very little or no light, even in the dark. With this product, just the area around the keys is lit, not the keys themselves and that really is pretty useless. With this keyboard, you STILL need an external light source to see the face of the keys; the light that the keyboard emits is totally cosmetic. You certainly can't use this keyboard in the dark unless you are a professional who can type totally blind, and if that were the case, then you wouldn't need any ... MoreThe problem with this keyboard is that the design doesn't accomplish the whole concept of a "lighted" keyboard should be. For those who assume a "lighted" keyboard means the keyboard letters, numbers and symbols are lit from behind...you'd be wrong. The light is only from around the keys and in fact, that makes the letters, numbers and symbols on the face of the keys HARDER to see since the area around them is brighter than the face which only make the face of the keys seem DARK! What's needed is a total redesign; the keys need to be lit from behind so the letters, numbers and symbols LIGHT UP! THAT what most peopleexpect from something called a "lighted Keyboard!" The two stars are because, yes, it does work as an ordinary keyboard.
