The switches are optical switches which means they use infrared light and photoelectric switches to detect a key press. Optical keyboards tend to have a faster reaction time than metal switches and they are quite a bit quieter than standard mechanical switches. This keyboard is actually the first time I’ve used a keyboard with optical switches and it’s a completely different experience than other mechanical keyboards. The presses are soft, but accurate. One of the things I usually do in order to test a keyboard is just a simple typing test. This helps me determine how quickly I can move around the keyboard and how accurately I can type with it. I usually have a 72WPM adjusted speed with 100% accuracy. This time I had a 71WPM sped with 95% accuracy. I think part of that is because the keys are so much higher than I am used to since I use a slim profile keyboard most of the time. One of the big features of this keyboard is its wrist pad. The keyboard comes with a super plush wrist pad that connects to the keyboard magnetically. It makes typing for longer periods of time very comfortable. This keyboard is a great complement to any gaming set-up. The cable is even easy to tuck away since it's braided. I’m not a big fan of the fact that you can't customize your experience unless you run a Windows OS, but it functions really well as a classic mechanical keyboard without all the noise that goes along with it.

It’s not over-the-top, just the right amount to read the keys and get the RGB lighting effects that gamers crave. This also happens to be very customizable, thanks to the Razer Synapse software. Let’s just say that the only real limitation is your imagination, but you can either use various presets to get there quickly, or go deep into the editing of each key. If you match it with a Razer mouse, you can edit both in the same program. The keys have a nice feel to them, and I enjoy typing on them. Thanks to optical switches, the latency is incredibly low, making every keystroke feel instantaneous. My left hand felt perfectly fine after a long gaming session with this keyboard, so I’m looking forward to using it from this point forward, as it improves my overall gaming experience and comfort. If comfort is your thing, a wrist rest is included that will allow you to rest your hand and wrist even more. The Huntsman V2 is definitely a pricier than a typical gaming keyboard, but with that being said, it’s in the same price range as the most recommended gaming keyboards, so you get what you pay for. It’s a step above, so I believe it’s worth it.Overall, this is a premium keyboard for someone who’s looking for a quieter and more comfortable experience, and quite honestly, you don’t even have to be a gamer to appreciate the features. A great keyboard for everyone!

Another Solid Keyboard, yet Nothing ā€œNewā€

However, this difference isn’t a detriment or in any way a ā€œdownside.ā€ In fact, with these linear optical switches being on the quiet side, using this keyboard in a room with other people or while listening to music, could be far less distracting. That said, the key presses were smooth. Just a simple, easy press. Very nice. No need for button mashing.During gameplay, the keyboard proved to be amazingly responsive. No lag or delay between the key press and the lightning fast instantaneous response on screen. Using the arrow or WASD keys to move my character, was so fluid, so effortless, as to almost feel as though I were in the game mirroring the steps of the character on screen. Activating spells, skills, abilities, and initiating attacks was basically flawless. The ergonomic wrist rest is covered with a nice material and made of very soft foam. I’ve never been inclined to use this feature for any keyboard I’ve owned. But it’s handy to have included. On the upper right side of the keyboard are media control buttons and a digital volume dial. Although I get that these are convenient, only the volume dial is useful to me, but the size puts me off.A detail I pay attention to when it comes to keyboards, is the underside and the placement and size of the ā€˜feet’, as well as, the cushioned pads. This Huntsman has sturdy, slightly larger than usual feet which makes the keyboard lean at (what to me is) an optimal elevated angle. And instead of just four pads, one in each corner on the bottom, there are two ā€œextraā€ longer pads in the center. An added, more aesthetic detail, are the words - ā€˜For Gamers, By Gamers’ - embossed all across the underside of the keyboard, on a diagonal. It’s just a fun little extra. In order to get the most out of this Huntsman gaming keyboard, you will want to download the Razer Synapse and Cortex software. I’m very much partial to gaming peripherals (and PCs) that have fun and cool visual or light effects. With Synapse you can rebind the keys, assign macros, and customize the Razer Chroma RGB lighting. Razer Cortex allows you to personalize your gaming experience even more, including creating game profiles.Although my overall initial impression was ā€œindifferent,ā€ I feel confident recommending this Razer Huntsman V2 Gaming Keyboard. Cause it’s true - Razer creates gear for gamers.

Avoid this keyboard like a plague
1 May 2023

The build of the keyboard is great. Feels great, linear keys feel great. Definitely takes a few to get used to due to the sensitivity of the keys. LEDs are great, wristpad is wonderful. I got it on sale for about $130 when I ordered it which was a nice price. Regular MSRP is ridiculous. I wouldn't wish anyone to get this keyboard despite how good it may sound above. The analog feature is HORRENDOUS. There are many older games that have no compatibility for having both a keyboard and game controller plugged in at the same time. If that's the case, the game is unplayable unless you manually unplug your keyboard or your controller (depending on your use case). There is NO way to disable the analog feature. I ultimately returned the Razer - Huntsman V2 Analog Wired Gaming Opto-Mechanical Keyboard with RGB Chroma Backlighting to go back to the CORSAIR - K100 RGB Wired Gaming Optical-Mechanical OPX Switch Keyboard with Elgato Stream Deck Software Integration...it is just a much nicer, sturdier, and quality Gaming keyboard! Don't get me wrong...as it really is a Good Gaming Keyboard w/a soft & plush comfortable wrist rest...though the material of the wrist rest does really feel quite flimsy...easy to tear or possibly peel/flake later. The keys of the Razer - Huntsman V2 Analog Wired Gaming Opto-Mechanical Keyboard feel great with their almost flat topped feeling keys (no real finger curve) and nice texture as well as the soft click/clack sounds...not too mechanical sounding. However, as others have stated, due to the nature of the Doubleshot PBX keys...the RGB lighting is quite dim as seen through the keys. This remains the case for the lighting surrounding the keyboard as well and on the edge of the wrist rest. This is especially so when compared to other keyboards...like the CORSAIR - K100 RGB Wired Gaming Optical-Mechanical OPX Switch Keyboard with Elgato Stream Deck Software Integration which is SIGNIFICANTLY brighter! Even my much older Corsair K95 RGB Platinum Keyboard is also much brighter...and after having it for almost 3 years and almost non-stop use at that. I must also add that the kickstands at the bottom of the Razer that lift the angle of the keyboard are very flimsy...and collapse very easily. Also Note: the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog keyboard only has a polling rate of 1000 Hz whereas the CORSAIR - K100 RGB Wired Gaming Optical-Mechanical OPX Switch Keyboard with Elgato Stream Deck Software Integration has a polling rate of 4000 Hz! In fact, the Corsair iCUE software even allows it to be set at 8000 Hz! Now, I am not some paid or rewarded Corsair sponsor/supporter nor any kind of Razer hater. I am merely providing facts regarding these choices so you may make your own decisions based on your own investigations and experiences. Do your homework!

Satisfying & Solid but Major Issues
16 September 2021

I ended up returning this keyboard for several reasons. First off I will say it's a solid keyboard, Razer makes keyboards that feel like a gaming keyboard should, doesn't feel cheap, and it isn't. For $249 this thing should make breakfast. I loved the solid feel and typing on the linear was super satisfying even tho I'm used to tactile & silent switches. But that is one of my issues. After using for a while you start to realize how much force you actually need to press these keys - even with the actuation point at the lowest. And after about a week of messing with actuation points and other things my left hand starts cramping up. Maybe linear keyboards aren't for me, I don't know but I never had this on my Blackwidow Elite V3.I tried the linear Huntsman Elite ...Ā MoreI ended up returning this keyboard for several reasons. First off I will say it's a solid keyboard, Razer makes keyboards that feel like a gaming keyboard should, doesn't feel cheap, and it isn't. For $249 this thing should make breakfast. And after about a week of messing with actuation points and other things my left hand starts cramping up. Maybe linear keyboards aren't for me, I don't know but I never had this on my Blackwidow Elite V3.I tried the linear Huntsman Elite with optical switches but the actuation point was so sensitive that typos were too common - if they could make a linear opto with a slightly increased actuation point I'd consider trying. But to bottom out on this V2 Analog keyboard takes a TON of force IMO.The wrist rest with this keyboard is the best thing about it, super soft and comfortable. The other main issue is keys randomly sticking. So you're in a game and you are going forward, then you let go of the key - but the character / camera / whatever keeps moving as if the key is still pressed. This happened to me playing Planet Coaster and I had no clue what was going on until I looked it up and it's a known wide issue. How Razer could release a keyboard at a price of $250 without testing it first is beyond me.Another gripe is the lighting is too dim even at max brightness. That's because the led seems to be farther away from the key caps and they only get brighter when key is fully pressed, again a $250 keyboard should glow like the sun.The biggest deal breaker was the key stick glitch that is either software or hardware related and Razer needs to address this, especially for a $250 keyboard. I'm back to my tactile & silent keyboard and I'm done buying keyboards.

Silent but Satisfying

Was looking for a nice full size keyboard with decent key travel for work and school. Tried the huntsman mini (the 60% version of this keyboard) and loved how smooth but quiet the switches were on this laptop. Ended up grabbing the full size version. In the box, it comes with the keyboard itself and the wrist rest, which was a very nice addition as it prevents any straining from typing. The cord it comes with is attached to the actual board itself which was a little disappointing, as the TKL version has a usb c to usb a cable in the box instead of having it hard wired on.I have found the 4 knobs at the top of the board very useful as well, and use them frequently to change the volume/brightness. Every single key can also be customized to produce a different function as well. RGB customization is very simple, and you can also download premade profiles online, with my favorite of the bunch being chromium blue.If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard that won't drive your coworkers insane, this is the one to get.

Solid, very nice pad, custom actuation points

I've been using the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog for about three weeks now. I used a $60 ThermalTake Meka keyboard for 10+ years (black linear mechanical switches) and decided it was time to update my peripherals. I opted for the Huntsman V2 Analog because (1) it has linear switches, which is what I am familiar with, and (2) it seemed to be one of the better keyboards out there with additional functionality thanks to the analog capability. I will say that it took a little getting used to at first, but now I am really loving it. Sure, you can probably save $200 and get a cheaper keyboard that works just fine and probably has decent build quality. But if you want to treat yourself and you like linear switches, this is a very solid keyboard.Pros: Solid feel, solid build ...Ā MoreI've been using the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog for about three weeks now. Sure, you can probably save $200 and get a cheaper keyboard that works just fine and probably has decent build quality. But if you want to treat yourself and you like linear switches, this is a very solid keyboard.Pros: Solid feel, solid build quality. I *really* like the included wrist rest. The analog switches allow you to customize the actuation point for all of your switches from 1.5mm to 3.6mm which is a big reason why I opted for this keyboard. The Razer Synapse software used to customize the keyboard seems to have good functionality and is easy to use. The RGB is on the dimmer side, but I didn't want a bright and flashy keyboard to begin with. There is one USB 3.0 pass-through port located on the left side. I haven't had any issues with ghosting and I expect this keyboard to last me a long time.Cons: It' is pricy. The analog functionality is heavily advertised but it takes work to implement effectively, not all games support it, and it's difficult to use without bottoming out your keys immediately. You might also experience some trouble using an actual controller with this keyboard plugged in because Windows treats it as an Xbox 360 controller (due to the analog functionality). There are some settings that can be tweaked to get controllers to work while this keyboard is plugged in and Razer Synapse explains how to do this, but it might still take some tinkering to get it set up properly. The point of all this is just to say that, at the moment, the analog functionality is mainly just used to customize your actuation points, not for actual gameplay.

Ultimate Gaming Keyboard!

The Razer Huntsman V2 keyboard is superb. I play videogames. This keyboard helps me type really fast and accurately. This keyboard has very smooth keypresses and I love the clicky sound that's not so bad it bothers others in the room. Everything about this keyboard feels just right. I type around 80-90 WPM with this keyboard I can do around 100 WPM. The included wrist wrest feels nice! I love the programmable RGB lighting. It was really a cool suprise to see that when you play certain games like DOOM and Factorio the layout for the lighting changes to fit the games atmosphere. I can't say enough about how much I love this keyboard. It has a real premium feel to it and you cannot go wrong getting one of these! In all my years and many keyboards I've gone through this ...Ā MoreThe Razer Huntsman V2 keyboard is superb. I play videogames. This keyboard helps me type really fast and accurately.
