[Rewarded Review] 2 minor issues but overall great headphones

I love them but there are only 2 issues I have with them: The first issue I have is the headphone width. As someone with a large head (my average hat size is an XL) it took some getting use to to not spread them past the breaking point. I assume after a while of careful putting them on and taking them off they will have some give, but it is a tight squeeze getting them on but when they are on they are comfortable on the ears. My second issue is the USB connector. to begin with, I thought I would have enough length to connect these to the back of my computer and run the cable from there. I do not have the length I would have liked, which is fine since I have front USB ports on my tower, which brings me to the connector issue. When I tried to pull the connector out of the back of my computer the smaller connector came out with leaving the USB part in my computer. With there being other USB devices connected I had to unplug other items to get the very small connector out. There should be a small lock on there, just my opinion.Besides those two minor issues, they are great headphones and have amazing sound (both in 7.1 surround sound and regular sound) and the cushions are soft enough for long game sessions with minimal fatigue.

The Razer Kraken V4 is a really good mid-priced gaming headset. I am surprised at how much these costs considering the quality and features you're getting. Unboxing these headsets you will find a usb-c dongle to wirelessly connect the headset by 2.4 ghz. This will give the headset the ability to be used across multiple platforms i.e. ps5, computers a handheld gaming devices etc. A usb-a to usb-c adapter cable for those devices that doesn't have a usb-c connector. A charging cable that can also be used if you need to use the headset in wired mode. The headset itself is very lightweight. I think most of it is made of plastic but it definitely doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. There is also so many adjustments that I think anyone will be able to find a perfect fit. For me, I didn't find the pressure too tight which is always a worry when buying new headsets. The cushion on the headband and earcups are the same. Memory foam wrapped in fabric, very comfortable and didn't even make my ears sweat. Most the controls are on the left side earcup with chat mix and bluetooth on the right side. The mic is retractable and very flexible which will give you the position which is best for you. The retractable mic was cool at first but then I kept finding myself pushing it up to fold away, lol. I think I prefer the fold away. There is a little light on the mic to show when you are mute which I thought was super cool and convenient. The mic was good, not great. Sounds out of the speakers are surprisingly good. The 360 sound was crisp and clear. Both mic and speakers can be adjusted in the app. You definitely will have to play with it to get the most out of the headsets. Lights on the earcups are cool and also be adjusted. There are so many positives and really no negatives that I have to call these Razer headsets a definite winner.

To change the rgb chroma settings and to do all the profiles, there's not a companion app for Android devices so again those changes can only be accessed via a computer app.I should say, there is a Razer audio app in the Play Store, however, the Kraken V4 was not one in the list of supported devices and therefore I could not get the Kraken V4 headset to sync with app. However, there is a Hello Kitty kraken version that is!As a standalone set of headphones, just watching movies through Netflix or whatever through your tablet phone etc, they do a fantastic job. Gaming sessions for a couple hours, no fatigue on your head. You do build up some warmth in your ears and Gets a little humid in there, but overall, it's a very comfortable headset. The retractable mic is a fantastic addition and definitely is my favorite feature. It's an excellent mic, but the fact that you can just retract it and push it in and it's not in the way and you don't look like a goofball watching a movie with the boom sticking out in front of you.Overall, definitely love the headset definitely tics all the boxes that I wanted it to for comfort, quality rgb lighting coolness!I highly recommend it to anybody looking to get a serious gaming headset that can also feels just like a normal set of over-the-ear headphones when you want them too.

[Rewarded Review] Good sound and comfort. Average features. Bad mic.

In my opinion, the microphone quality, Bluetooth integration, and game/chat mixer implementation drag down what seems like an otherwise solid product. I have no problems with the audio quality, build quality, or comfort at the $180 price point; if it just had a better mic, or the same kinds of feature implementation that you can find on the Astro A50 X or SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7, this would be an easy recommendation from me.Complaints/Problems:- The microphone is below average (especially compared to the Blackshark V2)- Mic monitoring is nearly worthless because it’s not loud enough, clear enough, and produces non-stop static- You cannot use Bluetooth and in-game audio at the same time like you can with the A50 X and Arctis Nova 7; you can only use one at a ... MoreIn my opinion, the microphone quality, Bluetooth integration, and game/chat mixer implementation drag down what seems like an otherwise solid product. Size isn’t everything apparently.- Amazing level of adjustability. These should fit everyone’s head.- Cushion material is nice if you like the SteelSeries 'AirWeave' styleOverall, I don’t think this warrants a “stay the heck away from it,” but I do advise caution for anybody expecting similar features to something like the A50 X. It's hard to justify owning these as the mic quality and game/chat mixer issues basically prevent me from using them when gaming with friends.

This gaming headset has amazing, crisp, and clear sound. You can activate Surround Sound on it by registering at the Razer website, but out of the box it sounds great on desktop computers and through the Playstation 5. The wire is pretty long, so you can move around while playing to an extent. The microphone can be pulled out of a small port on the headset, which is clever, but caused a little confusion when first unboxing. The USB connection does not work through the Playstation 5 controller, which was a little disappointing, but due to the aforementioned long cord is less of an issue than it otherwise might be. Paired fast and easily. Sound quality was ok out of the box. Mids and highs were good, but the bass was pretty lacking. Volume can get quite loud and is easily adjustable with the rotary dial on the left cup. Manual doesn't tell you how to change sound presets. Made a phone call using the built-in mic. No complaints from any recipients there. All said Sound was nice and clear.I next plugged the dongle into my PS5 and turned on spatial audio. This is when the headphones started to come alive. Playing astrobot was a real delight. Sounds buzzing all around my head with the advanced haptics for the dual sense controller was next level.Next, I connected to my PC. Here is where I got the most out of them. After some Googling, I downloaded the Razor Synapse app. Here, you can turn on THX spatial audio, select Sound presets, and customize the lights. After turning on THX spatial audio, I was able to use a button on the headphones to switch between sound presets. Movie, music, gaming, etc. This really brought out the missing bass for me. Light customization is as simple as using some presets to using the Razor Chroma app and going down the rabbit hole. Lights in each cup can be customized individually with different colors and effects. All that being said, I just don't think they are worth the price of admission. They are built well and sound good, but I can't help but think that I can find a comparable product for less money.

[Rewarded Review] Superior Sound Quality - if you can use Synapse
25 November 2024

I’ve been a fan of Razer gear for a long time. The only issue I really have with their products is the lack of support for Apple devices. Razer products do work with iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers, but functionality is usually limited because their customization hub, Synapse, is only available for Windows devices. This is the only thing that kept these from getting a higher rating. That said, the Razer Kraken v4 are some of the best-sounding headphones I’ve used in a long time. I usually look at a few main areas when testing out headphones — comfort, functionality, and sound quality.Comfort: The headset is light and the earpieces are fabric-lined. The ear cushions are very plush and the padded on the headband was soft enough that I didn’t notice the headbands at all. All the controls are easy to reach, but it was a little hard to distinguish between each of the buttons only by touch. It’s easy to pull the microphone out and replace it when you are done with it. As comfortable as they are, the earpieces are not very breathable and I found my easy getting quite warm the longer I was using them.Functionality: As I already mentioned, Razer provides limited functions to Apple products, but it does have full features on Windows machines. I connected the headset using the 2.4Ghz receiver and the system set it as my input and output sound device. I downloaded Razer Synapse, the hub for all of Razer’s products, to my Surface Pro and it immediately detected the headset and gave me the option to select THX Spatial Audio in stead of the standard stereo. Then I unplugged it and connected it via Bluetooth to my iPad and was able to still enjoy the spatial surround sound feature. Razer Synapse stores settings directly into the device’s internal memory so customizations will still be accessible — even when you plug it into a different device. I learned about this little trick not too long ago with a different set of headphones and given Razer’s OS restrictions, I wasn’t sure if it would work with the Kraken’s but it did.Operation of the headset — aside from the customizations you get with Synapse — is pretty standard. You turn the headset on by pressing and holding the power button located next to the USB-C port. I noticed that it went into pairing mode right away, but you can switch the connection method by double clicking the SmartSwitch button on the left ear piece. There are only two buttons on that side of the headset and the other is the game chat/balance button, which is much longer. I still found it a little hard to discern which button was which just by feel so it would be great if there was a raised bump on it or something like that to make it easier.I love that the headset has an extendable microphone that can also be retracted when necessary. It seemed to work well and adjusting the sidetone within Razer Synapse also made it possible for me to hear myself talking in the microphone. This setting also carried over to my MacBook Pro when I switched input devices. I have been very impressed by how easy it is to switch devices by just clicking the SmartSwitch on the earpiece.Sound Quality: With the THX Spatial Audio enabled, I was incredibly surprised about how wonderful everything sounded. I watched the opening five minutes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, which has a wide array of sound effects and advanced sound design layered together. This is something I use to test sound quality with headphones and there were some sounds that came through much cleared than they do on other headphones. Then, I listened to the soundtrack from the Charlie Brown Christmas, which is a much older recording and it was still very clear and well-defined. Finally, I listened to tracks from Wicked (the film version) and was shocked how much the reverberation on certain notes came through. The sound quality is pure and you have the ability to fine-tune your settings in Synapse.I think the Kraken headphones are well worth the investment. They are comfortable, built well and since settings save to the device itself, as long as you have the ability to use Synapse, you can use them on multiple devices and still have the same type of sound experience no matter what device you are using.

[Rewarded Review] Very good mid price headphones
22 November 2024

I got this third set of razer headphones for my other son to utilize. Much like my other 2 sets of razer headphones, these have a soft breathable cloth muff on the cuff and firm grip on the head. The controls are easy to reach and the volume level is very respectable this had a retracting microphone which is neat, because they can lay flat on the desk, with mic in and swivel muffs that lay flat. The microphone recording quality is very good, but i myself can't tell a difference between ot and other razer headphones. This can connect by USB wire, usbc dongle or adapter cord provided by standard USB, or by bluetooth. The sound is the certified and overall the levels are very balanced and crisp. When in a game that has surround components, this really does lend itself ... MoreI got this third set of razer headphones for my other son to utilize. When in a game that has surround components, this really does lend itself well to directional hearing. These do nit have haptics like the pro versions. This does have 9 zone lights that you can customize as you wish, but I still am a fan of the breathing pulse or wheel that have been a staple of the razer products. Razer synapse installs quickly enough and after a short bit of exploring is pretty intuitive. The book that comes with it is minimalist, but ok. Overall, another very excellent set of headphones. I have no deductions for these. If you want haptic feedback, the pro version has that. I didn't feel the value added for my son or I was worth it for additional cost. Compared to the Baracudda x Chroma, the mic is about the same to me but retracts, the thx is easier to use fo sound than the 7.1, and 9 color zones on this vs 6 zone color there are where the upgrades come. Compared to brracuda, a slight upgrade for the cost. I do give these 5 stars. Good headset, but really, I habe yet to really find a bad set of razer headphones. Even back to the first pairs of wired razer Kraken ultralight I bought for my boys to use on their handheld games, all have been good.
