I enjoyed the shape of the mouse, but at the time, the market had several other options that overshadowed the Viper Ultimate. I was excited that Razer was breathing new life in a well known mouse with this release, and for myself personally, I feel the Viper V2 Pro gives that extra edge the Viper Ultimate was lacking for competitive gaming—especially in the current, aggressive market for lightweight mice. I'm going to mainly touch on the largest and most noticeable differences when compared to the Viper Ultimate as the Viper V2 Pro excels at providing the best performance possible at the expense of extra features. The lighter weight may not seem like that much of a concern for some, but once you adjust to the lower weight of the Viper V2 Pro, the Viper Ultimate feels bloated by comparison. The diet plan Razer put this mouse on drops the weight from 74 grams to a mere 58 grams without holes in the shell—the same weight as a tennis ball. The rubber side grips found on the Viper Ultimate were removed for a more texturized surface that works well with dry and sweaty hands alike; though, stick-on grips for the sides and buttons are included if they are something you prefer. I would not recommend this though, since on my copy, I noticed the grips left some residue when I removed them. The switches have been vastly improved over the previous generation. The click feel is similar to Kailh 8.0s, if not a little firmer. Razer has mentioned they are taking special care in binning the switches to ensure that only the best switches are used in the Viper V2 Pro, and this claim definitely feels legitimate.I could mention other aspects such as the sensor, charging port, and battery life; and while these all have changed and improved, I don't feel they require entire sections dedicated to a comparison. The changes are negligible at best and do not stand out in my personal everyday use.The biggest concern that I've seen mentioned regarding this product is the price, especially as it is losing features such as RGB and the charging dock. Granted, those features were wonderful commodities on the Viper Ultimate (when they worked); however, I believe it needs to be clarified that this mouse should not be considered a direct upgrade to the Viper Ultimate, but contrarily appeals to a different audience altogether. For those who believe that the features provided on the Viper Ultimate are necessities, I wouldn't recommend the Viper V2 Pro.This mouse is better described as a more hardcore, competitive FPS-focused peripheral instead of a casual gaming mouse. While I personally wish the mouse cost less, if you can afford the price ($150 at the time this review was written), the Viper V2 Pro is definitely one of the best options on the market and very to beat.

Included in the package are optional self-applicable mouse grips for the left and right click buttons and sides, a USB-A to USB-C Speedflex cable, a wireless USB dongle and, of course, some Razer stickers. After downloading the Razer Synapse and Cortex applications on my gaming laptop, I was able to register the mouse and customize the buttons through the app. The mouse is extremely lightweight, only weighing 58 grams, and its design is ergonomically sound as well comfortably resting in the mold of my palm and fingers. The five buttons on the Viper V2 are very responsive due to the optical switches and glides smoothly across my mousepad using the ultraslick mouse feet on the bottom and high-speed 30K optical sensor. As another added convenient feature, the power button on the bottom of the mouse also acts as a quick switch button to quickly change the DPI to match your gameplay style. The color on the top of the mouse corresponds to the DPI selected (ie. Red = 400 DPI, Yellow = 6400 DPI, etc.). Overall, the Razer Viper V2 Pro mouse is one of the best peripherals I’ve used and would recommend it to anyone in the market for an upgrade.

Coming in at 58g, the mouse moves and glides at ease on any surface or mouse pad. The mouse surface is slightly matte and smooth to the touch, but if you're like me and prefer a more solid, grippable texture, the Viper V2 Pro comes packaged with grip tape for a quick makeover of the sides and top buttons. It really feels responsive, which can be attributed to the Razer Focus Pro 30k optical sensor. The cursor flies across the screen with the smallest hand movement, but all within control. The scroll wheel has only the click-through option, no auto-scroll or smooth scrolling, so some zooming in and out during gameplay was a bit restrictive. The buttons each have a mechanical click to each press, which depending on your preference can be comforting or tiresome to listen to after a while. The Viper V2 Pro gaming mouse has some nice features that can really enhance a gamer's experience. Its lightweight, minimal design can alleviate stress to your hand during long gaming sessions, and its responsive, precise optical sensor works spot on in both wired and wireless modes. Overall, it is a great little device and worth checking out.Full disclosure, I received this product for my honest, unbiased review.

All in all, I probably own around 8 mice that I have purchased in the last couple of years. Some I really like for when I am working, and others are tossed into my backpack to shuttle with my laptop back forth between home and work. I have a couple other gaming mice, but those inevitably get scooped up by one of my 3 sons. I wanted a good lightweight gaming mouse for my home setup, and this one was a home run. There are a couple of components that most look at when choosing a good gaming mouse, and some might have different preferences depending on the type of games you play. I know once upon a time when I was heavily invested in WoW I preferred a mouse with a slue of buttons to make my rotations smoother. Now a days I lean more towards FPS, strategy, and puzzle games. So, what I am looking for now is a mouse with great response, something that is accurate, and that feels comfortable using for extended gaming sessions. Unfortunately, I don’t get to game as much as I used to when I was younger, so when I do get to carve out some time for gaming, I am very particular about my setup. I hate mice that feel sluggish, or that jitter too much. This mouse manages to check all the boxes for me, and I couldn’t be happier. The mouse is extremely responsive. You are also able to go into the app and toggle the DPI to really get it set the way you prefer. There is also a button on the bottom of the mouse that lets you toggle the DPI in case you are quickly jumping into a different game, and you need to adjust the precision a bit. I usually like to keep mine at 1600, but it is super convenient to be able to quickly toggle that when I need it. At first, I was a bit bummed that the DPI button wasn’t something on the top of the mouse, but after using for a few gaming sessions I can see why they opted to place it on the bottom. You will not accidentally toggle it during the middle of a match when it’s on the bottom. The second thing that has me really enjoying using this mouse is the feel of the mouse in the hand. It is super lightweight; it glides across my desk mat. A simple flick of the risk allows me to adjust in games. I have used it for a few hours at a time and never felt fatigued or the need to readjust. The mouse included some textured/rubberized stickers to place on the sides, and on the two primary buttons on the top of the mouse. The mouse already felt great without the added stickers, but when I placed them on it really completed the package for me. The added texture comes in handy, and I would imagine that if your hands get a bit sweaty gaming that the stickers would keep your fingers in place.I really have been enjoying using this mouse. It has the precision that I am looking for, super light weight and glides around, the buttons are great, the battery lasts a long time on a single charge and charges up relatively quick. One thing I should mention, I know for some this might be a deal breaker, there is no RGB lighting on this mouse. This works for me since my sons are a bit partial to RGB on everything so that reduces the chance of them taking my mouse, but I know some, like my sons, the RGB is a must have. If you don’t need RGB, and you want something very responsive, lightweight, wireless with a solid fast connection, and comfortable than this is the mouse for you. I can easily recommend this mouse to anyone.

Mouse Variation and shoddy QC strike again
19 May 2022

While the reduced weight is certainly noticeable compared to the Viper Ultimate, the build quality of this new Viper falls woefully short. M1 and M2 sound extremely different; M1 is snappy and responsive, while M2 is mushy and hollow. I thought this may have been unique to the copy I had, so I purchased a second copy. The click variance was even worse on the second copy in terms of sound (a nice "click" on the LMB, a hollow "thunk" on the RMB), but the RMB on the second one felt slightly less mushy. The side buttons feel fantastic, so no complaints there, and the stock mouse skates glide extremely well on my Artisan Hien (better than the Tiger Ice skates on my Viper Ultimate). The scroll wheel is mushy when depressed, and has some significant side to side play on one of the copies. This is, sadly, the state of Razer QC at the moment. It may take you several tries to get a mouse completely (or mostly) without noticeable flaws. This mouse definitely does not warrant a $150 price tag. The only group I can recommend this mouse to are hardcore FPS gamers who feel they will be served better by a 60g mouse over a 73g mouse. Otherwise, the best decision is to pick up a regular Viper Ultimate (ESPECIALLY at the discounted price - the Viper Ultimate with the gen 2 optical switches was well worth full MSRP, in my opinion). If hearing two completely different sounds when you're clicking your main mouse buttons doesn't bother you, and you're okay with a possible mushy MMB and RMB click, AND you have $150 to burn, then maybe give this mouse a try. Razer claimed these gen 3 opticals were binned to solve this issue - this is absolutely untrue given the two copies I received, the switches are not even remotely close in sound and feel. If I was able to acquire a copy of this mouse without flaws and with clicks within a reasonable tolerance distance of each other, I would give this mouse a 4/5. Either way, the Logitech GPX has just as many flaws and QC issues, so if you absolutely need a featherweight mouse and are used to the Viper shape, this may be your only option. Hopefully you get a decent copy.

Nice upgrade to the Viper Ultimate
2 December 2022

I've had my Viper Ultimate for about 3 years and it was showing it's age. I enjoyed it so much compared to my other mice (various Logitechs including G303, G903 and Razer Naga).I decided to purchase the Viper V2 Pro as a replacement for my main rig (Viper Ultimate will go on laptop duty) and I was expecting the experience to be about the same. The weight difference is actually noticeable on the V2 Pro compared to the Viper Ultimate which was a great bonus for me. The very definition of the perfect eSports mouse
12 June 2022

The Razer Viper V2 Pro is hands down the best mouse I have ever used - full stop.First, the weight: Razer has taken the trend toward lightweight mice to an extreme here, shredding every possible gram without reducing usability where it matters. The mouse is so light that it almost feels like a prop or gutted shell you'd see tethered to a shelf at a store. I ended up applying the included textured grip decals to the mouse as I prefer a little more grip, so I guess I'm not quite at the lightest possible weight, but it is still incredibly light. It weighs less than 2 AA batteries. It's absolutely nuts.Usage wise, the lack of a tilt wheel is a bit of a downer in regular desktop use, but not something I think most people will have an issue with in game. The sensor's accuracy and customization is AMAZING though - especially the lift-off detection. It is just incredibly consistent and predictable at all 3 available 'basic' settings, and if those don't work for you, you can adjust it even more precisely in the advanced settings. I have used mice with high DPI sensors before but never one this accurate with lift-off. I'm still adjusting to being able to do it at all so there's a bit of a learning curve as I up my game to match the mouse's capabilities. The only negative you might not realize before going into the purchase that I can really present is the fact that the DPI adjustment is on the bottom of the mouse. If you like to change DPI often, this isn't the mouse for you unless you can bind a keyboard macro for that purpose. Otherwise, just realize this is a laser focused mouse with all the fat trimmed away, so there's no RGB or tilt wheel or anything like that.

There is a certain image that comes to mind when you say "gaming mouse." You generally expect something with almost as many buttons as your keyboard, enough LEDs to light your house, and more gimmicks than a theme park. And a lot of that comes from the past products produced by Razer, who will happily remind you that they were the first company to bring gaming focused mice to market back when they were still using rubber balls instead of optical sensors. The Viper V2 Pro, however, is something very different. You will find no RGB, a bare minimum of buttons, and not a single gimmick that you'll configure once then forget about within the space of the hour. You generally expect something with almost as many buttons as your keyboard, enough LEDs to light your house, and more gimmicks than a theme park. All the bling and prestige features have been ruthlessly stripped away to deliver a performance focused product aimed squarely at professional gamers. The first thing you'll notice on unpacking the mouse is the feel in your hand. The base assumption for most gaming mice is that less weight means less inertia means faster response times and precision. Ultralight mice generally start at around 80g. The original Viper (which, it has to be pointed out, was a wired rather than a wireless mouse) weighed in at 70g. This one came in at 59g. And unlike most mice in this range, it does it with a solid case rather than cutting away material to leave you with more of a mouse wireframe. And it's a pretty nice case too. It's got a pleasantly grippy matte texture all around and on the buttons, with a few pre-cut strips of rubber grip tape included for those who want to be sure of their hold even if their palms start to sweat a bit. I personally taped up both sides of the mouse as I found it slightly more comfortable (and a bit better looking) that way, and found the process to be very simple. Button response is nice too. They're using optical switches for the main buttons which should offer longer lifespans and better durability, but you wouldn't necessarily know it if they hadn't told you. They've got just as much tactile response as conventional mechanical switches, and make the same satisfying clicky noises you expect. The second thing that makes this stand out as a gaming mouse is the sensor, which goes up to 30,000DPI and is fully tunable via their Synapse software utility (though for those who don't want to use it, there is also a button on the bottom which cycles through a variety of preconfigured modes.) this thing is about as responsive as anything I've ever seen when turned all the way up, to the point where it's almost a hindrance. Since it's designed for tournament play it omits a sniper switch or any other dedicated buttons to allow you to retune sensitivity on the fly, so it's definitely more of a "set it and forget it" device. It does, however, work on almost every surface I tried (with clear glass being the standout.) Best performance did come from using it on a mousepad though - which is also the most comfortable since the teflon pads on the bottom are pretty shallow, and thus harder to move on a less than perfectly flat surface. Wireless performance was, as one would expect, great. Latency seemed virtually non-existent, battery life is solid, and it comes with a nice angular USB-C extension for those who want to manage EMI and keep the receiver as close as possible to the mousepad. If you're looking for a mouse for tournament play (or even just preparing for tournament play) this is absolutely worth checking out. The weight, build quality, adjustability, it's all dialed in about as much as it can be. If you're more of a casual gamer or looking for something for everyday computing though, I think you might want to consider something else. As high quality as the Viper V2 is, the fact that it is so focused on the professional circuit means you're missing a lot of things that other gaming mice can provide which are quite useful for things other than gaming. There is no horizontal scroll system, no sniper button to let you retune sensitivity on the fly for fine detail work, and no ability to fine tune the weight if you want something a little more solid in the hand. This is not the mouse for everyone and anything, and it doesn't want to be. It is a precision tool, and for the right kind of user I think it'll serve them well in that capacity for a long time.

Worthy change from weighted gaming mice…

Razer - Viper V2 Pro Wireless Optical Gaming MouseWorthy change from weighted gaming mice… worth a try if you are a serious gamer! This is a change from my previous gaming mouse, which had RGB lighting, with lots of bells and whistles including weights to add for customization.First thing noticed was the very light weight of the V2 – which is a very nice change and no problem with long gaming sessions. Second thing noticed was the responsiveness, which has no lag issues – very nice for a wireless mouse. Third thing noticed was the excellent battery life, which for me excuses the “missing” RGB which I presume extends the battery life. Second thing noticed was the responsiveness, which has no lag issues – very nice for a wireless mouse. Third thing noticed was the excellent battery life, which for me excuses the “missing” RGB which I presume extends the battery life. The mouse can be connected USB for battery charging and a direct connection, but neither one is needed except for the occasional battery re-charge. Once you get to gaming, the lights on the mouse are inconsequential and the gaming performance is what really matters. There is not a constant display of the battery level on the mouse, and you have to go digging to get it – but this is not a major issue since the battery lasts for quite a while in between charges.Setup is easy, and no issues with connection to the computer. There is a “pre-set” button on the mouse to quickly change the DPI if needed when switching games or going from gaming to browsing. Also an app to customize most everything about the mouse if you like. Status display for the mouse doesn’t specify the DPI setting you are using – which would be nice to have for quick reference. Not a major issue, just a bit odd since the feature of DPI switching with a button doesn’t show you what DPI you are using. One difference that I would like to have is an option to change the mouse wheel from smooth to clicky when scrolling, as this is something I am used to and takes some time to adjust to an always-smooth mouse wheel.Overall this is actually a refreshing change from a heavier weighted gaming mouse, and one of those things that you might not appreciate until you start using an ultra-light gaming mouse.Greetings from Central Georgia!

The Razer Viper V2 Pro gaming mouse is a must have to any gaming set up.Out of the box, the mouse feels virtually weightless. For a wireless mouse, it can be hard to pull that off. It comes with a soft braided charging cable, a usb dongle, optional grip tape, a sticker sheet, instruction guide book, and warranty card. The craftsmanship and presentation of all the items is really top notch. When connecting on your computer, you will install the Razor Synapse software which will give you a complete run down of your mouse and let you program every button and customize its sensitivity and also view mouse battery life. You are able to adjust the Polling Rate, and set up stages for different DPI sensitivity. With the synapse software, you can also install the Razor Cortex software, which is pretty much a central command center for all your gaming titles to access, and lets you run a game booster and system booster to optimize files.Using the mouse is smooth like butter. It glides wistfully across the mouse mat and feels good in the hand. Its buttons are well placed and there is a nice click on the scroll wheel on each turn. The left and right click buttons are large, and the click can activate from any point on the button, so it is easy to use for small hands or large hands. When it comes to its use in gaming, it has an incredibly smooth flow on the pointer or when aiming a weapon. With the adjustable DPI, it makes a world of difference being able to adjust DPI settings between different games and they get saved in the DPI profiles. There is such a noticeable feeling when using this mouse versus using a standard wireless mouse. It feels professional, it feels smooth, it feels comfortable, and it feels solid built.Overall, I would highly recommend this mouse to a friend, and I am hard pressed to find any flaws with the operation or quality of this mouse.
