Been purchasing my dog food for years and never realized PetCircle sold Chicken Feed. I have always fed Red Hen 17 to my chickens. Chickens love it - no wastage and lots of eggs. I usually have to drive miles to buy it as not all produce stores stock it.

This is a great product - not only does it contain the higher protein that backyard chooks often need (if they aren't free-ranging or getting a lot of protein-based food scraps) but the girls love it. Its texture means they can't pick and choose which "bits" they like best (and believe me, chickens have preferences!) so there's less wastage. It's also palatable enough to use as scratch, which is more than can be said for most pelletised layer food. Well worth the few extra dollars.

This layer crumble is a complete feed with a good amount of protein. Best thing is that my lay-dies can't pick out their favourite ingredients like they do with a grain mix so I know that what they are eating is balanced and nutritious.

Opened up the bag and they lapped it up. Even the fussiest one eats! They love this soaked in water. Very fresh. I love the quality.
Similar to another person, the feed quickly grew mould. I had other feeds kept in same area and conditions and did not see any mould growing on there. The chickens do seem to enjoy this feed more up until I chucked it all out due to the mould.
It is actually a great feed. Chicken love it, lay beautiful eggs which are better than those sold in supermarket.
Despite generally costing more than others, I said it is cheaper overall for a few reasons:1) My chooks consistently produce eggs more frequently (and a generally larger size) than previous flocks with different food;2) Very little wastage with this: My chickens eat almost all of this feed, whereas for many others, there were often parts of a scratch mix that were left over. I find this tends to be consumed more than layer pellets (from my experience), so, once again, less wastage;3) Due to sufficient calcium, the egg shells are consistently stronger since incorporating this food into the chickens' diet. I bought a bag of Vella pullet grower and a bag of Red hen 17. The Vella pullet grower is good and my 5weeks chooks love it. But the Red hen 17 has mould inside the bag, I could not feed this to my hens, I have to put the whole bag into compost , at least use it as fertiliser. Waste my money...
Really happy with this product! I've struggled to find a chook feeder that I am happy with that doesn't contain nasties or unnecessary ingredients. My girls love this feed and since the recent winter molt, their feathers are coming back quicker. Thanks Red Hen Seventeen! Will definitely continue purchasing
after years of eating boring pellets this product is like a breath of fresh air and the rats that freqent the chook pen love it also!
