I installed this brake controller myself 1.5 years ago in a Landcruiser. Been delivering heavy loads of industrial machinery (excavator buckets etc) almost everyday during that time, and it has never failed me. If I brake lightly, the trailer brakes lightly. If I hit the brakes hard the trailer does too. Simple 1 knob control with numbers 1-10 for tuning the weight. I find for my long 1.2 ton trailer, when it is empty I put the dial on 4 and when it is fully loaded I move it up to around 6. Have never used any of the other features. Very happy so far, hopefully it keeps doing its job for the life of the Cruiser (which may live forever) and I never have to replace it.

This trailer brake made me realize my precious trailer brake was trash. I’m amazed at how smooth this has made braking with a 6000lb load behind me. The way the brake learns your habits in how you brake and then applies the trailers brakes equally is amazing. Highly recommend and I won’t pull a trailer anymore without this.

Just installed it in the tow vehicle, but not had the caravan on yet. Quality of the unit and instructions is very good, but the price is a bit exxy, when considering component costs and other units on the market, although I prefer to buy Australian manufactured product. I bought the unit after positive feedback from a friend who has one in his vehicle, and the fact that I wanted to get away from having to adjust braking manually when entering built-up areas after highway/country towing (Enough to think about with greater traffic volumes without adjusting the brake controller.)

There’s a reason why people say these are the best brake controller on the market…Super easy install with an optional Redarc vehicle specific harness. Also great quality as you would expect!
Install was pretty straight forward once I decided where to put it. One thing I didn't see in the instructions was the unit has to learn how it's installed by driving. There is a series of illuminations on the dial to let you know it's learning. Unless you have a trailer hooked up the dial won't illuminate but the unit still self learns. When I hooked up the trailer the dial illuminated and the system works great.
Almost Set and Forget. Dont bother with the old type of Trailer Brake Controllers, these are state of the art system that once its been calibrated it will work everytime without the worry. I purchase the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite to fit into our 100series Cruiser so that my wife when she needs to tow a trailer (which is rare) will be able to easily drive on any road surface without getting into trouble and its not Rocket Science to adjust or to calibrate. The Control unit will remember its calibration unless the vehicle battery is replaced or disconnected, and then its as simple of Stop Go 20 times to calibrate the system and you dont require a trailer attached at the time, but it is helpful to do so, more for your piece of mind than anything else. The Controller head itself is small enough to mount almost anywhere under the dash (Redarc make an Ashtray Mount its the best spot) and then a small Adjustment Dial is mounted where its easily found without knocking it everytime you access the vehicle and at a fingers touch. It our 100 series cruiser, we mounted it in the swithc blank beside the mirror adjustment controller. Do bother with anything else, this is the best available at present and its even highly sought after Overseas its that good.
Firstly 10/10 for sending the redarc so qwikly.Hubby has just finished installing the redarc and has taken the ute and caravan for a few test rides, so far so good. Nxt trial is over the xmas break.Thanx for all ur help and the super qwik postage.
This is an excellent piece of kit - quite frankly it is the benchmark. In the install the only visible component is the adjustment knob/remote. Please if installing it DIY-style, invest in the appropriate wiring kit fit your vehicle. All popular models are available. Literally confess with everything required for the job - including cable ties. Just makes the end result alot more professional. Landcruiser install takes 120min, I was a bit slower than that, since a couple of steps can be quite difficult - routing through firewall grommet and routing/fixing wiring looms. Essentially could not recommend another controller. Only downside is the price, but given you can get the controller and wiring kit and do it yourself it is a great offset. The Tow Pro Elite V3 has performed brilliantly with our Electric braked Caravan and our Electric/Hydraulic braked Boat Trailer. It is the only controller easily installed in our 200 Series Land cruiser due to the lack of available places to position a one piece controller. (This replaced our Tekonsha P3 which would not fit the 200 Series LC). The Control Knob simply clicked into a vacant position on the dashboard and the remote box fitted easily behind the dash.
I liked this product as it was easy to fit - most other controllers would have been a disaster. I've got a smaller car with virtually no under dash room to mount a controller. With the Tow-Pro, I was able to securely mount it in the boot, and used a longer 4m control switch cable (available separately from Redarc in several different lengths) to mount the control switch on the dashboard. This easily fitted into a switch blank hole, assisted by using a Redarc universal switch insert (also available separately). The controller itself only requires 4 other leads for connection, +ve, earth, electric brake feed, and stop light sense. I spliced into the factory trailer harness for the stop light, and the only other major bit of work was removing innumerable bits of ... MoreI liked this product as it was easy to fit - most other controllers would have been a disaster. I spliced into the factory trailer harness for the stop light, and the only other major bit of work was removing innumerable bits of plastic trim and finding a hole in the firewall to route the power cable to the battery - I ended up sharing the hole that the bonnet release cable used. I only needed to buy a very simple (and relatively cheap) e-brake fitting kit comprised of 8m power cable, a 30a circuit breaker, and some crimp ring connectors. Highly recommended.
