Previously had a Tekonsha Prodigy 3 proportional brake controller. The Redarc unit is as good without having to under mount the unit which in most new cars interfers with the knee air bag system
First use of it today towing through hill terrain with sleep dissents and very happy with the way it worksCheers
It caused me a bit of a problem, it was an older model with different connections. I bought a extension cable from another supplier with the new connections so wasted money as I wasn't able to send it back.
I have used these controllers in 4 Toyota Landcruisers and have never had any problems. Set and forget and makes towing as easy as. Gives you Great confidence.
The Tow Pro Elite V3 would get 5 stars except when I ordered it I did not realise there are 2 versions of V3. I received the V3-12 (12volt version compared with 12/24 voltage). The issue was when installing the V3-12 has the older model dial controller (Cat 5 data cable) which only fit the larger switch inserts & as I have a late model Prado there are no larger switch inserts on the left of the steering column or center consol, only small square ones which only suit the latest V3 which has the smaller dial controller with different remote head cable. I had to install the control head on right side of steering which can get bumped when you get in or out of vehicle, otherwise the brake controller works perfectly.
The best money can buy, easy to install, just had to buy the mounting bracket straight from redarc to make it fit nice and snuggly in the dash of the new car.
sorry guys it was damaged,but in all fairness nobody would have knownit wasn't until it was installed and used ,that I was able to find out.What was happening was- it felt as though the van was pushing the car, but not all the time, and then the red light would flash for some time , even when the brakes hadn't been used.But on inquiry to Red Arc, all was resolved, I took it back to the installer and they in conjunction with Red Arc replaced it, (the harness was a bad connection to the controller). The package when it arrived was sound , no damage so who would've guessed.Red Arc also took care of the re- install , Red Arc products and the company are substantially, better than the the rest, so minus a bit of stuffing around , all good.
