If used correctly this is a great mask! I have been using it for about a year and half now since I started transitioning from 10 years of brunette color to blond. I primarily purchase from my salon but they have been out of stock with COVID and the bottle design change. I wash with Pureology Hydrate Moisturizing Vegan Shampoo and condition with this mask 2-3 times a week (whenever I wash my hair) I leave the mask on btwn 5 and 10 min (basically while doing all my tasks in the shower) and then remove. Be prepared for temporarily stained hands. I believe it does say on the bottle to wear gloves but who has time for that? It fades away quickly from skin don’t worry. Wow is this mask intensely pigmented! I use on towel dried hair, and apply quite a bit to make sure it’s well distributed roots to ends. After 10 minutes I rinse with cool water and continue styling. Very effective at eliminating brass and giving my blonde hair a beautiful cool hue. It is also somewhat hydrating but definitely not a mask I would consider an intense moisture mask. It is thick enough that it doesn't run.I was a bit nervous that I would end up with a purple tinted to my hair at first because of how pigmented the product is. I watched as the deep purple rinse water spiraled down the drain. I think the key to using this is to really take your time and rinse very well. If you think your done, rinse again. This works for me because I have no purple or purple tint left behind at all.I'm pretty obsessed with my results! My blonde pieces look like they were freshly toned at the salon! There is no yellow at all. There is no brassiness or dullness either! It's all nutralized by the formula! I'll admit that I also have some white hairs that I'm not that fond of. This mask gets my blondes to a nice, natural color that makes those pesky white hairs actually blend and not look so obvious! An added bonus I guess!I will note that I do have to use a stronger/thicker conditioner the next time I wash my hair because it does tend to feel a bit dry, but nothing serious. I thought I was doing what I was supposed to as I was regularly getting blonde touch ups in my hair, but my hair was looking and feeling fried, especially at the ends. When I told my stylist I was using the violet shampoo/conditioners 90% of the time I washed my hair she said THAT was the problem. So I began using a moisturizing shampoo+conditioner duo instead, adding in the use of this Redken Extreme Blondage mask in place of conditioner about once a week. I could probably bump it up to 2x/week but I am happy with how it keeps the brass at bay. Excellent mask.

Almost a black-blue finish. Great for evening out white, grey, black, and bleached tones. The overall effect is planned tones of graduated grey. My mother even asked me, "Who colored your hair? That's amazing!" It is a strong mask that cannot be used every day, even on dark hair, without showing purple. For a naturally charcoal grey blended look, every few days is sufficient, or it can be diluted with a nourishing shampoo. I found it to be worth the price for the quality, of a very acceptable fragrance for sensitive scalps, and of effective use for very white and dark brown hair.

Highlights look brighter and my hair is hydrated!

Just in case, my hair is fine, base level 8, and my highlights are level 9-10. I shampooed my hair, towel dried, and applied the mask evenly, left it for 5 minutes just to be safe for first time, rinsed it completely with cold water and the results are AMAZING! My highlights look brighter, and my hair feels SO hydrated, soft, and silky after blow dry! (No purple stains, the mask is very hydrating) Definitely recommend! Next time I'll leave the mask for 5-10 minutes.

So, this was my first time dealing with a yellow-blonde situation, dying my hair at home during quarantine. I did a lot of research on toning and tried a couple different purple shampoos without much luck, then came across a bunch of people on YouTube, etc using PURPLE hair dye mixed with conditioner to tone their hair and showing their amazing results.. yeah.. as you can imagine, it didn't go that way for me.. I didn't expect something so deeply pigmented purple to actually remove my unwanted purple and leave me with the gorgeous blonde hair I was going for. No. Go get your hair professionally toned for the same price

For reference, I have dyed light blond hair. First of all, the the tint this mask leaves in your hair is more of a reddish purple, not an icy bluish purple. Any anti-brass effects that this mask provides wash out after one wash (I use Joico Defy Damage shampoo). I was disappointed that it washed out so quickly, so last time I used it, I left it in my damp hair for 5 HOURS. It did cancel out the yellow tones, but still did not last after one wash. TL;DR: just go to the salon and have them tone it for you. At least that will last more than one wash.

The first time I use this product I had no issues I only left it in for the five recommended minutes however it didn't brighten my platinum blonde hair very much if at all. This time around I left it in less than 10 minutes but longer than five to see if it would work, and now my hair is PINK. I have spent Thousands of dollars to keep my hair platinum and this product just about ruined that. Please do not buy this product if you have platinum blonde hair. I just used this mask for the first time last night. I'm 32 and have been a few steps down from platinum my entire life, so I'm very familiar with almost every purple shampoo, conditioner, leave in, toner, mask.. etc. I was using Purology purple shampoo which is a nice product, but ultimately drying. I just cut 5 inches off of my length, so I really don't want any extra damage or dryness. This mask made it look like I had gotten a toner or glaze all in about 7 minutes. I was amazed. I dampened my hair, ,used a conditioning mask, rinsed, shampooed, towel dried, applied the mask EVENLY- and then combed through w/ a wide tooth comb avoiding my scalp.
