Reef Fanning Flip Flops - Black Brown

I have had a pair of fanning's for 4+ seasons. They are pretty well made and durable. The gum rubber sole also grips well. I have medium width feet with a low profile rigid arch, not flat feet. They fit pretty well for the first season but then after broke in they are now more loose than I like. I am not a fan of the high airbag heal..it feels like I am wearing dress shoes and has very little give..when I want to be relaxed...you know, the reason we kick off our dress shoes and put on flip flops! I also slide forward while walking, pushing the strap into the base of foot between my toes. I would say they are a good choice for people with high arches or wide feet with normal arches. I would like to try the fanning low style and see if it resolves the sliding issue...but for this year played it safe and went back to the trusted comfort of the phantom style.Phantom cushion bounce are crazy comfortable..but not as durable and no btl opener on board. Style is a little more manly to me..which I like..but that is a personal thing so no extra stars for that.

Awesome Purchase

I had to do an exchange for a smaller size and that was a super smooth process. The directions to size up for in-between sizes didn't quite work for me. They shipped the new pair the day I dropped the old pair off at UPS. These are super comfortable with the obvious party trick of the bottle opener on the bottom. I would absolutely buy these again!

Best sandals

Best sandals ever buy. So comfortable and last forever. These are my like My 10th pair. I wear them everywhere. From boating, everyday wear, beach, in the lake, where ever. If you get the good looking coloe ones. You can dress them up a little. To who are looking for sandals. Buy them, they have ever color in the world. Even if they don't have them. Look them up.

Comfortable, but the bottle opener is a gimmick and the plastic around it shatters if you walk on rocks.

I loved these sandals for the first 2 days. Then I hiked along the shore of a rocky lake and the plastic around the bottle opener cracked into small pieces. These are great if you only walk on sand and pavement. They’re worthless for rocky terrain. A solid, inflexible plastic piece in a flip flop is a bad idea. Luckily I’m getting a refund and will get something that lasts longer than one weekend of camping. For a high-end expensive sandal these are garbage. I’ve had $3 sandals that lasted for 2 summers. $60 and the Reefs only lasted a couple days. The bottle opener on the sole might make someone laugh when you toss them your sandal to open a beer. Aside from that it’s a dumb concept.

Good sandals

Great sandal. My husband has had other Reef sandals which he loved but it was time to update. According to my husband, these are comfortable sandals, yet are stiff. He’s not sure if he has to break them in more or if this is how they are made now. For the price ($60), he said they “should feel like walking in slippers for the price tag.” He does love the added feature of the bottle opener on the bottom though :)

Great sandals with updated design

I purchased these sandals to replace my older Fanning 1.0. I have owned at least 7 or 8 pairs of rates and I keep coming back to them due to how comfortable they are and the unique bottle opener I the sole. They feature an air bag sole system which for a 250lb guy feels great. I have sued the bottle opener works great and is always a conversation starter. The opener is recessed and only touches the edge of the cap when using so you down have to worry about contaminating your drink.With this model they have moved back the thong that goes between your toes which moves your heal back further. They look a little small but will stretch. You might consider getting a size up.

Love them but only lasted 1 summer unfortunately

I’m torn between 5 stars and 1 star… I bought a black n silver size 21 pair last summer but they only lasted like 3 months before the middle piece that’s goes between your toes broke. For 60 dollar sandals that’s pretty disappointing! Besides that very important fact I do love these sandals. Excellent for cruising the sandy beach and rocky beaches. Very comfortable and excellent support. I want to get another pair but very hesitant seeing their kinda expensive at 60 dollar and only lasted 3 months. I expected better quality out of Reef.

Not the best since company has been sold off

Logo on heel is extremely uncomfortable after just a few minutes. Buy the leather sandals from reef, go for a higher priced leather because it won’t be texturized and cause the bottom of your feet to look like braille. The quality of reef products has gone down a lot since the company agreed to be acquired by the Rockport shoes parent company. I don’t recommend. I’m not crazy about the fanning style, idk how it is their most popular option, it’s so uncomfortable and the shape of the sandal is odd.

Quality is not like it used to be

I have puschaed these through out the years. This last year I have had purchase 3 pairs through Zappos. I ended up returning them due to the middle thong material breaking. I don't wear these everyday. But when I did they were the Most comfortable flip flop. The last pair I purchased gave me horrible rub sores on the top and sides of both feet. In the past I had never had a problem with breaking these in. So I figured they are using cheaper materials. Unfortunately I have decided to stop buying these because it seems the quality in matirals and workmanship has gone down the drain. In my option these are not worth 60.00 more like 20.00.

Still a fan!

After a decade, or longer, my husband’s previous pair of fannings broke. He was disappointed, so I bought him a new pair for Father’s Day. He is still a fan and loves them! The only complaint is that the new pair are slightly smaller than the previous. He had to go up a size but that’s not that big of a deal. Another reviewer warned about the same issue. Should have heeded his warning. Would have saved me the time and trouble shipping them back!
