I cook with turmeric all the time. I use [East] Indian, Trinidadian and Jamaican turmeric for my Curry Chicken. This is the first time that I've ever tried Australian turmeric. As you'll see in the uploaded pics, this turmeric is a right yellow and not dark orange or even earthy brown as a product of the other countries, but it has its own distinct flavor. Its flavor is mild and has no over powering scent to it. I like the flavor- a buttery, butterscotch-ish flavor-- to it. Now, I'm not swimming it is sweet (it isn't) but it has a hint of that smooth flavor. Great product when added to szechuan vegetables.

I have been taken turmeric for many years. I am 70 years old. Always made my own capsules and took 6 @ around 750mg ea. Now I found this product and take 2g each day because it is more convenient than making my own capsules. But the result is the same. For years and years no arthritis pain and no more pharma/doctors bills. Excellent results.

This is not just ground up turmeric root but a blend of the bulk root and an isolated curcumin extract, making it more potent than raw root that includes fiber and inert parts. However, it retains the strong earthy bitterness of turmeric and I can also taste the black pepper that's included to increase bioavailability within the body. (I know some reviewers felt this had no black pepper but it definitely does.)Here's where it gets interesting: I've included photos of both this product and another brand of isolated curcumin extract that is 98% curcumin (this is purportedly 95%) and you'll notice a huge difference in color. This product by Nutra Nourished is yellow, not orange, but very strongly flavored. I'm really not sure which one is actually more potent in the end because labeling isn't always trustworthy. If you want color and no flavor (easier to get down!), the other brand seems ideal but while it's labeled as 98% curcumin, is it somehow less potent because it doesn't have the volatile compounds that give turmeric it's distinct bitterness like this brand does? This brand definitely tastes like turmeric and black pepper so it can be hard to incorporate a full serving into your day without getting overwhelmed by bitterness ***.maybe that's what you want. But why is it so yellow and pale?? Based solely on labeling, odor, and taste, this appears to be a very good and strong supplement. Beyond that, I really don't know what to say.

I've been reading about all the health benefits of Tumeric, the supplements I had been taking did not have black pepper. I didn't realize that you need black pepper to aid absorption. The Nutra Nourished daily dosage is three capsules, they are average sized capsules, I had no trouble swallowing them. I don't necessarily have any health issues that I'm trying to resolve with Tumeric, but I do suffer from a severe thyroid disorder which does sometimes cause joint pain and swelling if my medication is off. Tumeric should help lesson those effects. I did notice the product description states 1000mg, the bottle that I received says 1350mg. I've been taking this Tumeric supplement in the morning, but i recently read that taking it at night could help with sleep, so I'm going to give that a try tonight. Since my previous brand of Tumeric supplement did not contain black pepper, I wanted to take this for a few days to make sure I didn't experience any burning or stomach upset before I switched to a night time dose. I haven't experienced any issues at all with this product.
Oddly, the title and information in the product details states the product has 1000gm of curcumin. However, the picture in the product details shows 3 capsules/serving, with 1350mg of Turmeric Root Extract, standardized 95% curcuminoids. Thankfully, the received bottle is the same as the pictured product, with the exact same label. So, each capsule contains 450mg Turmeric Root Extract, with approximately 425mg curcuminoids. My usual curcumin supplement contains 400mg Turmeric Root Extract, also standardized 95% curminoid. Both have Bioperine (my usual:10mg/capsule, this brand:3.34mg/capsule). The one ingredient missing from this supplement, that is in my usual one, is organic ginger. The one ingredient missing from this supplement, that is in my usual one, is organic ginger. But, the primary reason to purchase this type of supplement is the curcuminoid yield. So, in terms of curcuminoid yield, this particular supplement ekes out a slight increase. Since that is per capsule, this bottle delivers 180 servings vs the 60 for my usual supplement. (1 capsule is the serving size of my usual brand curcumin supplement) At first glance, the price for this supplement might seem high. However, when you factor in competitive serving sizes, this becomes a pretty decent value per capsule (with due consideration given to potency/quantity of curcuminoids). The only issue I have with this supplement is the absence of certifications/badges for GMP, FDA or 3rd Party Testing. That would boost the perception of the product considerably. Accordingly, this curcumin supplement earns a 4 - 4.25 star rating, with a moderately high level recommendation.
I have to take Amlodipine for high blood pressure. My cardiology specialist said that, for me, Amlodipine is a must. But it makes my feet swell so huge that I cannot get them into shoes. Seriously, I have been wearing house slippers. I tried to make "Golden Coffee" for it's anti-inflammatory effect, but it tastes awful! I read an article that said that Turmeric 95% Curcumin is the best to take for anti-inflammatory, so I started researching. When I found this, I read the reviews and it seemed as if the complaints were about the color being suspicious. Otherwise, great reviews. Then I read one that said that they only put half a teaspoon in their coffee and can barely taste it. So I decided to give this a try. I can barely taste it and it actually makes my coffee ... MoreI have to take Amlodipine for high blood pressure. My cardiology specialist said that, for me, Amlodipine is a must. I really like it. And, it works!!! My feet gradually started swelling less and less. It has been a little over a month now and my feet never swell!!
I'm not a young kid, and generally a sceptic when it comes to 'alternative' medications. Colour me converted! I have an ankle (broken twice while parachuting and on a motorbike - with two screws still in there). My ankle used too be stiff and caused me an ongoing ache, accompanied with an occasional limp. Now, I'm totally pain-free - seriously, like magic.I'm a convert and really believe this has let me function normally.
This is as described in the listing here, it is a bag of Turmeric, standardized to 95% Curcumin, it also reads that it includes some black pepper. The total weight of the bag is 120g, which is enough for 60 servings at 2g each. The rear of the bag reads that each 1/2 teaspoon, 2g serving contains at least 1,500mg of Turmeric extract standardized to 95% Curcumin. i guess they say, "At least", since a 1/2 teaspoon can vary in weight, and not everybody weighs powdered extracts such as this. The packaging also reads that 1% of the contents is back pepper extract. I do not read anything else on the bag about other ingredients, so, I guess 1.2g of the 120g bag is black pepper, and the rest is the Turmeric extract. The labeling on the bag is a bit odd, instead of an ... MoreThis is as described in the listing here, it is a bag of Turmeric, standardized to 95% Curcumin, it also reads that it includes some black pepper. I guess this is just plain Black Pepper, no mention of it being a Black Pepper extract. Th pouch opens easily, and it is resealable. I had no issues with the consistency, not clumpy or anything. I added it to a morning shake/smoothie I make, and it didn't alter the taste or anything. I noticed no unusual smell, a slight smell, but, some extracts are like that. This stuff mixes well, the weight of the package is proper. There is mention on the bag that this product is made in Australia. Overall, it appears to be a Turmeric extract standardized to 95% Curcumin, but, I wish the label was a bit more thorough, and easier to read.
Turmeric is said to be a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. As an anti-inflammatory, it benefits your heart, arteries, and veins, and helps prevent cancer, arthritis, and diabetes. Inflammation is now considered a contributing factor in cancer. Turmeric is also believed to clean the brain of plaque, and thus helps prevent dementia and Alzheimer's. Curcumin is the key active ingredient in Turmeric, a spice. The benefits for taking Curcumin alone, vs. Turmeric, are similar, but slightly different. Turmeric, the spice, contains additional plant substances beyond curcuminoids. So you might get greater benefits from taking Turmeric rather than Curcumin alone. It's also said to help your body absorb turmeric. Absorption is an issue with turmeric, so manufacturers are increasingly adding it to their turmeric supplements. Turmeric normally has a dull, pumpkin-orange color. This Nutra Nourished "Organic Extra Strong Turmeric" is more brightly yellow than any other turmeric I've seen (see my photos). I'm not saying it's bad. The listed ingredients look good. I've just never seen turmeric this yellow before. Squeezed Dried Turmeric (another brand) is the darkest orange of any turmeric supplement I've yet seen. It also has a strong spicy scent. This Nutra Nourished Turmeric has a faint spicy scent. Some turmeric supplements don't have a scent, despite being darker than this Nutra Nourished. All of these brands might be potent. I provide this info for what it's worth. This Nutra Nourished Turmeric comes in capsule form, which is good. Capsules, softgels, and tinctures are better than tablets. Tablets contains binders, which can inhibit absorption.
See headline. I bought this specific amount for about $22. It has now shot up to almost $34. In addition, I've now realized that the color is very odd. It is daffodil-yellow -very bright, like a lemon. It almost looks like baking soda, saturated with food coloring. Multiple sources imply the color of true 95% curcumin powder should be a "deep orange-yellow." I'm not sure, however, whether color differences are due to authenticity/purity or specific environments in which the substance is extracted and stored. The telling thing, however, is that I've now used up the original amount of the product, which I originally purchased hoping it would help my joint pain and inflammation. No effect whatsoever.
