LOOK AND FEEL:LOOKS: 5 out of 5FEEL: 4.5 out of 5The reMarkable 2 is a great device that has a very premium feel. The screen is a slightly scratchy surface to give your stylus that resistance to feel more like pen/pencil and paper. To me it still does not get the pen and paper feel down perfectly, but it is a lot better than writing on glass. Set up was very easy and the UI is intuitive and easy to navigate for the most part. The device feels weightier than it looks, but it's a good weight in the hand that is spread out well across the device. The stylus that came with the device also felt premium. It was light in the hand, but with enough weight to feel like a good solid pen.USE OF THE DEVICE:VALUE: 3 out 5USEABILITY: 3.5 out 5The reason I rated this device ... MoreLOOK AND FEEL:LOOKS: 5 out of 5FEEL: 4.5 out of 5The reMarkable 2 is a great device that has a very premium feel. It was light in the hand, but with enough weight to feel like a good solid pen.USE OF THE DEVICE:VALUE: 3 out 5USEABILITY: 3.5 out 5The reason I rated this device only 4 stars is because for me I found the "distraction free" part to be too much. Not being able to open a kindle book on this device and take notes from it was a bit of a let down. Pretty much straight note taking, PDFs, and ePub books are all you can really do. No third party applications can be installed. If you are looking for that level of limitation to help you focus then this is the perfect device for you. However, I wanted this as a study, note taking, and reading device on which I could also check my email if I needed to, or look up something to do with my subject of study on the web. The options are limited with the reading and study aspects of the reMarkable device. The lack of a some sort of light was also a little disappointing. There were definitely times I wished it had a front light on the device itself to better view the screen. Otherwise you needed an external source of light just as you would with pen and paper. All this to me made the price point for this device high for what is available to you.REMARKABLE APPS:EASE OF USE: 4.5 out of 5I will say the remarkable apps you can use to interface between devices was very well thought out and designed. Making it easy to quickly transfer PDFs or ePub books from my computer to the device.SUMMARY:The writing experience on the reMarkable is a pleasant one. It definitely feels better than writing on other tablets I have tried before. Overall my experience with reMarkable was...well not reMarkable, but it was good. Not great, but good. I would still recommend this device to anyone who really wants that "disctraction fee" aspect of the device. For that, it works very well, while also giving you a premium experience. However, that premium "distraction free" experience does come with a premium price.

The product itself has so much potential but I feel like I was 5 years too early to the game. I love the idea of being an early adopter but reMarkable's business model doesn't want to reward me for that leap of faith. The tablet is beautifully designed and is an eye turner when you open it during a meeting. However, it's just not fast enough or user friendly enough to replace some of the other products out there. The price is way too high for what you get out of the box, especially when you need a subscription to get the most out of it. I've been able to replicate the same experience by purchasing an ipad, apple pencil, paperlike screen protector, and deleted all apps not related to productivity. reMarkable 2, I appreciated our time together. Maybe we'll run into each other at the Best Buy in a couple years and we can grab some coffee and catch up.

I found the reMarkable 2 to be a very convenient tool if you were keeping it simple with regular .pdf files for taking notes. It synced up well with Google Drive and the reMarkable desktop app. The e-ink, matte display is useful as you do not need to worry about screen glare when taking notes in class or constantly charging the device. It falls short when you want to use it for PowerPoint and Word documents. In order to view and write on these files, you need to have access to a computer, install a reMarkable add-on for PowerPoint and Word, and then upload the related files using PowerPoint and Word to migrate them over to a reMarkable readable format. In order to view and write on these files, you need to have access to a computer, install a reMarkable add-on for PowerPoint and Word, and then upload the related files using PowerPoint and Word to migrate them over to a reMarkable readable format. So it can be a real hassle for schoolwork at times, compared to a regular Android tablet or iPad that would be able to download the Word or PowerPoint file from Canvas and open the file directly. This leads to another issue with the reMarkable having a watered-down version of Android, with no access to the Play Store. For some users, this may not be an issue, but for me personally, my school WiFi and work WiFi require an app to allow access to the network by signing in with my school ID or work ID, which the reMarkable is incapable of doing. I'm forced to use my phone hotspot to allow me to sync files while at school because of this.It can be pretty difficult to justify the MSRP price tag when these are possible issues for a user. Especially since you're in range of an iPad or Samsung Tab. If you plan on keeping it simple though with regular PDFs, the reMarkable is a perfect device. I think for a lot of students however, it might be too much of a hassle and that an iPad or Android tablet with a matte, paperlike screen protector would be more convenient and feature-packed. I believe the reMarkable team justifying the lack of the app store as a "feature for having fewer distractions" is a lazy reason and something that should be up to the user to avoid rather than stripping it entirely, especially with the price point.
This device has been a game changer for me! It's easy to set up, and transferring documents from my phone or laptop is very intuitive. I keep myself organized and on track with bullet journaling, and was able to tweak the method to work for me on the Remarkable 2. I uploaded a few forms that I need for work every month, and I can easily make copies to use each month and eliminate some paper clutter. I appreciate the lack of distractions compared to my iphone and ipad. If you're the type of person who goes on about FPS in video games you may be bothered by the tiniest bit of lag when writing, but I don't notice any at all. If you're the type of person who goes on about FPS in video games you may be bothered by the tiniest bit of lag when writing, but I don't notice any at all. In fact, my son, who does go on about FPS, didn't notice a lag either. The Marker Plus is great for erasing. Without it you have to toggle from the pen to the eraser on the menu. The tablet itself feels very well made. I found it helpful to buy a stick-on stylus pouch on Amazon for the Marker Plus. I put it on the front of the Book Folio and it's much more secure than relying on the magnet. The Book Folio is very attractive but I don't think it would protect the device if dropped. I've never dropped it - I don't carry it around much, but it is easy to hold on to with the folio on. It's not super slippery with it off, unlike my iphone or ipad. I don't do any reading on my device, but I do have a few books loaded. The page turns are not very fast. I prefer to do my reading on my Kindle, and while I thought about the Kindle Scribe, I decided that books are also a distraction for me, and I wanted to avoid distractions.
I was disappointed. I really needed the ability to create notes without paper.1) Con - The processing speed left a lot to be desired.2) Con - You have to convert images to PDF's in order to upload into Remarkable2.3) Con - The menu is not intuitive.4) Con - It takes (a lot of) seconds to move pages to gain more writing space, a reference to the "processing speed" in Con #1.5) Con - My 12-month Connect Subscription registration did not work seamlessly. I ended up registering and getting charged a month. After which, I had to contact support to correct the registration. That required that I refresh the Remarkable2.6) Con - I do not have this much time to devote to onboarding a new device.Something nice to say - The product answers a need. I have been wanting to get something for taking notes in for a while and I had a really good deal on this. So I finally pulled the trigger on it. I got this as an attempt to take notes for class because I liked that it saved everything digitally and I can send notes anywhere online. However, there is no backlight. You have to replace pen tips. And there is a subscription as well as the high price mark. For this price, unless you want to take notes on something that isnt paper but feels like it, this is your go to. Otherwise I would say just buy and iPad air when they go on sale for 500 or below along with an apple pencil. So much more value as it has way more function besides just taking notes.
A great, no-frills tablet for anyone in need of a portable writing solution. Easy to set up and has plenty of layout options for different projects. No internet access or other apps means you have nothing getting between you and your work.Writing on it does take a bit of getting used to. It takes pressure into account as you write but a bit of use and I got used to it rather quickly. Erasing is a breeze as all you do is use the back end of the marker, much like an actual eraser. The only downside is the price, of course. Quite an expensive piece of kit, but the better marker, replacement tips, and included case are solid. Would recommend it to anyone who is going to get plenty of use out of it.
When I ordered this product, I wasn’t entirely sure if it was the first Gen or the new one. While waiting for it to be shipped I discovered Best Buy was only carrying the second generation ones. That made me super happy!I’ve wanted a Remarkable tablet for two years and was so glad to finally be able to get one when they became available at Best But and I got a package deal - which was even better. The only less than perfect experiences was it just took too long for Best Buy to actually ship - it was a little ridiculous. The other thing is the cover I got with it - is hard to clean. Mine now has a spot on it from who knows what and I can’t get it out.But the tablet itself is a wonderful experience. My only gripe with it is there is no sync with google drive - you have access to the drive - but you have to download the document and then re-upload it - I really hate this part of the experience. I don’t need the other sync subscription they require because I only use Google Drive - the last thing I need is one more cloud to use.But as far as everything else I specifically got the tablet for - so I could stop going through notebooks and more notebooks and lose which one had which notes - I now have them all in the same place. There’s a bit of a learning curve on now to do a few things like adding new pages to a notebook or how to delete a notebook and it’s a bit clumsy as far as navigation goes - it doesn’t entirely make sense. But once you learn it - it’s fine.Yes, I would purchase again - I would look for a bundle with a better portfolio cover though.
Good Points: It should make writing notes fun and easy (if works properly).Improvement Points: I am a researcher who tried avoiding printing by buying this device. For some reason I am not able to get the two finger screen zoom work properly. Often it does not work at all! I have done as instructed but the screen doesn’t move leaving my work stuck and me angry. Sometimes the same problem applies to changing between the pages too. This is extremely frustrating and inconvenient and makes me wonder if the device is broken. Also, for me the screen is too dark.I didn’t understand it would be grey which you can’t adjust?! My vision is not perfect so it’s a huge minus - I am not able to use this unless the room doesn’t have really good light source.
