Remy Martin Cognac VSOP 700ml

(1,053 reviews)

Dominant notes of vanilla thanks to longer aging in French Limousin oak barrels, followed by ripe apricot, baked apple, and an elegant floral note. Remy Martin VSOP (very superior old pale) sources grapes exclusively from the Grande and Petite Champagne regions, also know as Fine Champagne Cognac. To say that Remy Martin has been around for a while is something of an under statement. Their roots stretch as far back as 1724 when the business was first established. Another key date comes much later in 1948 when Remy Martin decided to source their grapes from only 2 of the 6 regions within Cognac- Grande and Petit Champagne. This can be seen as a very strong quality statement as these two regions are generally considered to provide the best grapes in the region. A consistently well rounded Cognac. As like many VSOP Cognacs the key here is to exaggerate the lighter notes from the region. Fruity (apricot and peach) and floral (Rose) notes are thus at the fore with any spice being light and sweet.

I was quite surprised how smooth this was. I wanted to try both. But, it definitely does not take much to feel 😎! 😆 The first taste is a bit strong because this was my first time having it but it was not bad after that. I tried with ice straight and with a bit of coke. Quite good! I definitely recommend.

This is an amazing product, it is so smooth and goes down nicely. It mixes well with a chaser or can be taken as shots. It is a dark liquor which is my favorite. The bottle is aesthetically pleasing and the portion size is good. I would definitely say you get value for your money. I recommend this product.

Remy Martin is one of my favorite cognacs. Off top you get the floral and fruit notes and the flavor profile represents that but I also get a hint of sweetness similar to vanilla. Very smooth, I love it. First test: neat in a Germain glass. Second test: on a ice spear. I recommend this product.

I was at a rooftop hotel bar in Williamsburg with a few friends when a lovely older lady suddenly came up and joined us. We made friends immediately and she was the epitome of class, chichness, and had an idgaf attitude. We talked honestly and openly about all kinds of things and she shared her wisdom and secrets with us. I asked her what she was drinking and it was . She let me try it (this was pre-covid) and it was lovely. To this day, I enjoy cognac when I want to have a drink. This product is smooth and goes down easy. I wasn’t a dark liquor person until I tried this. It doesn’t take much, just an oz or 2 to feel relaxed and lovely. Much better imo instead of going through several cans of hard seltzer or beer. I love that my experience with this has a story ... MoreI was at a rooftop hotel bar in Williamsburg with a few friends when a lovely older lady suddenly came up and joined us. A perfectly smooth and rich cognac
9 September 2021

I?m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. For starters it comes in a classy bottle that kind of demands to be drunk for a special occasion. Perfect for gifting or in our case celebrating A-level results. The taste is rich and smooth and doesn't disappoint, even when being consumed by the younger drinkers, who normally would not even consider cognac. Will definitely buy again as a gift, treat, pick-me-up or celebration. Perfect!

Better than Henny
14 May 2023

This cognac levels up on its main competitor, Hennessy VS, in that it’s aged longer and is thus more mature and drinkable. It’s also bolder, brighter, and fruitier, with less alcohol burn, and ranks among the best cognacs for a Sidecar. This was one of the first cognacs I’ve tried, with crisp notes of grape, oak, leather, and red apple. Would buy again, though it’s not as good as, say, Pierre Ferrand.

My favorite VSOP
25 November 2022

My overall favorite cognac in the under $100 for a 750ml bottle. I like very much the VSOP from Hennessy and Courvoisier but the Remy is noticeably better to me. Remy has been hard to find so glad it is now readily available. For what it is worth with the 1.75 liter bottle save one 1.3 cents per milliliter as compared to the 750ml size bottle. The 1 liter size is the best value.

Surprised newby

I started exploring the finer nuances of French cuisine and many recipes call for cognac as an ingredient.. so I bought my first bottle of Remy Martin VSOP. When I first opened the bottle I was immediately transported to an apple and pear heaven, then noticed the floral scent and vanilla.. naturally, if one is going to cook with alcohol, one should taste it.. so I did. I took a sip and rolled it round my mouth for about 30 seconds and the fruity pear and apple really shone through, then swallowing and breathing out through the mouth I get the warm floral.. it's truly lovely.

Try Rémy Martin V.S.O.P, it's four times longer, four times stronger, and you won't regret it!
26 November 2022

My favorite V.S.O.P by far is Rémy Martin (V.S.O.P stands for the minimum aging of four years). Yet, guess what? The age of Rémy Martin V.S.O.P is almost four times that needed by French law. And talking about four... In order to create a cognac that is unlike any other VSOP on the market, Rémy Martin combines four times as many eaux-de-vie as Hennessy VSOP. V.S.OP is the Cognac I prefer, unless I'm in the mood for the 1738.

Way Too Pricey!!!
14 September 2022

I have been purchasing Remy Martin VSOP Cognac for my lovely spouse for many years. I was thrilled to find it at Total for $33 for the 750 ml bottle - much cheaper than anywhere else. When the Trump Administration levied tariffs on French products, Cognac was included, and the price went to $50 at Total. Now it's at $55. I will not be purchasing it at Total any longer. The tariffs are NOT that onerous, and I am forced to conclude that Total is making a few extra bucks off of this situation. Too bad. My wife really likes the stuff and I've really enjoyed shopping at Total. Until now.
