This game may have received not so positive reviews for different reasons, but for me, it's a perfectly good game. Not as massive of a masterpiece as Resident Evil 2, but that's a very tough act to follow. Some things are actually improved or built on from the previous instalment, and the length of the game is perfectly fine. The replayability of it is what makes it even more fun. Unlocking items and weapons for upgrades makes the gameplay worth coming back to after you finish the story. And the voice acting in this one is exceptional, with smooth and stellar performances across the cast. Really enjoyed this one and will definitely play again at some point.

Lemme start this review by saying that I never grew up with the Resident Evil franchise. I came to it very late, like almost a whole year before Village was even released. With that in mind I decided to basically get all the games I could get my hands on and now I'm a proud owner of all the copies available on PC. Resi3 being the last one of all of them for me to buy.Graphically, this game is absolutely incredible. The neon signs, the lighting, the reflections (without RTX) make this game an absolute marvel to behold. At first, I almost couldn't even tell that the game actually took place in 1998, it all felt like it was the modern day.Gameplay wise, this game's much more fast paced than 2, 7 or 8, considering Jill's ability to dodge at the right time and shoot ... MoreLemme start this review by saying that I never grew up with the Resident Evil franchise. It feels like a speedrunner's paradise in most areas... But if you're not a speedrunner, I'm afraid the game's length is gonna disappoint you. My max run time was almost 7 hours. That might not sound too bad, but that was mostly because I spent likely an hour and a half trying to carry everything I could find to my safe box or solving a puzzle. For a normal player, this game might feel too short, but when you pay attention to the best things it does, it's a game you'd call Short and Sweet in that regard.

There is cause for replayability, but the lack of extra game modes certainly hurt the overall package. While RE2 brought over The 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor game modes, RE3 does not include a remade Mercenaries mode from the PS1 original. And while RE2 kept the "zapping" mechanic from the original - albeit in a simplified manner - the branching story choices present in the original RE3 have been omitted for this Remake.Included in this package is RE: Resistance, an asymmetric multiplayer game where a group of survivors are pit against a game master who influences a dungeon of sorts that can be inhabited with various creatures from RE's storied history. It's fun but lacking in content. As it currently stands, it does not substantially add to RE3's rather lackluster offering.Overall, a competent Remake is the best I can describe RE3. It's not bad, but it has major faults. I can only hope the inevitable RE4 Remake does not fall into the same shortcomings.

A Great Game on Its Own Terms

I was a huge fan of the RE series back in the day, replaying the games to improve my times and unlock special weapons and costumes. I was late to the party on the remakes, however, so there's a lot of time between playing the old and the new, but a lot of memories came flooding back as soon as I started. After the massive success of RE2:Remake, doing the rest of the series was a no-brainer. A lot of people showed their disappointment in this one, and while I understand the sentiment coming after from one of the best games ever made, this one still has a lot of strengths. By its nature, it's going to play a lot differently in that you are on the run constantly changing locations versus fully exploring one complex location like you did previously, not to mention you ... MoreI was a huge fan of the RE series back in the day, replaying the games to improve my times and unlock special weapons and costumes. By its nature, it's going to play a lot differently in that you are on the run constantly changing locations versus fully exploring one complex location like you did previously, not to mention you only have one character path as opposed to two. Compared to the original, some of the missing/changed elements are missed, but I understand this is trying to be its own game. Even still, the game looks amazing, the controls are fluid, and while the game can be rather difficult, I never felt that it was unfair. In a vacuum, this is an amazing game that I got through pretty quickly, but am already thinking about playing again to get a better time and unlock more extras. I can't say that about most of the games in my collection. Also, not sure why GN sells only two video games (this and The Last of Us 2 for PS4), but for the price you really can't go wrong.

A solid half dozen hours

Coming off of RE2 Remake, I was excited for another modernized version of a classic RE experience. I went in with tempered expectations though with all the complaints I'd read about the game's length and low replayability. The game is indeed on the short side - I finished in roughly 7 hours. But I'll take quality over quantity. The experience is tightly paced. Compared to REMake 2, which had a couple of large labyrinthine areas to master, this game has many more smaller sections. I find enjoyment out of both types of level design, so this was perfectly fine for me. There was never a dull moment, and a fair few tense encounters. You do swap characters on a couple of occasions and I can't say I was a huge fan of that. The 2 characters play somewhat differently from each other, but part of the RE experience is inventory management. Suddenly switching over to another character's completely separate inventory was pretty jarring and I imagine greatly hampers the replay incentive. Unlike REMake 2, there is also only 1 campaign - another detriment to replayability. But there's a lot to like here for fans - Nemesis fights were plenty exciting and really lets you loose with all the firepower in your arsenal. Graphics and controls are top-notch. Jill is really fleshed out here so you get a good sense for her character. Pick it up for a fun couple of sessions. The price shouldn't break the bank nowadays so there's no reason that length and replayability should be that offputting.

Awesome Remake!
5 August 2022

Back in the day, I borrowed the original Resident Evil 3 from a friend and instantly became hooked.Being a remake of the first ever Resident Evil game I ever played I was very excited when this was announced. If you played the Resident Evil 2 remake, it plays more or less the same. It's built using the same engine so has the same UI and everything.Raccoon City is re-imagined in beautiful HD.Critics have complained that some areas from the original were cut which is true, but new areas/events have replaced them so I don't see it as a loss overall. This is a solid Resident Evil game. Pick it up today!

I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2021 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.

Great game for PS4. Love it.

I’d never played Resident Evil 3 before this point. I understand there are quite a few changes to the original, and I know I’ll have to play it someday, but as a stand alone game, I really enjoyed it. Loved Jill and Carlos, a bit disappointed Barry doesn’t exist in this game, but Nemesis is a blast. The zombies are killers, and pretty hard to dodge. I was doing really well and had a ton of ammo until the hospital, I had to switch to the assisted mode at that point because it was just too difficult, at least till I could switch back to Jill. Anyway, it’s a great game and looks beautiful. Enjoy!

I'll be honest: after the stellar RE2 Remake, I'm pretty disappointed in this release. The original RE3 wasn't a very long game, but this remake is even shorter, with large portions of the original game excised for seemingly no reason. What's available isn't bad by any stretch, though the brief length seems like there was some intention to release a Director's Cut or DLC that was canceled. The included multiplayer mode is pretty much superfluous and I salute anyone still playing it. I wish there'd been more development time/funds spent on themain game that this uneven experience.

The visuals are stunning and innovative thanks to the RE Engine, Capcom's own game engine; there have been times where I've been wowed by even the slightest of details. Fans of the original should also be excited for a plethora of nostalgic references.Upon completion, I've not only come to the realization that Resident Evil 3 is an enjoyable and truthful survival horror game, but it's a thrilling experience that remains fun to play even after the first playthrough.-- In Resident Evil: Resistance, players can take control of multiple characters with various abilities and backgrounds that can aid them through horrifying experiments.Resident Evil: Resistance is one of the most innovating and exciting multiplayer experiences in the video game industry. It combines co-op and competitive elements and allows a four versus one simultaneous online play. For split-screen players, unfortunately, this game does not offer local multiplayer--at least for now. While the concept behind the gameplay may seem difficult to comprehend at first, after playing through multiple online matches should get you up to speed, and when it does, the experience can get hectic.Four players must survive against hordes of infected zombies and creatures that have been summoned by a fifth player, also known as the "Mastermind."The gameplay works very well, and there aren't any bugs or issues that I've come across during the numerous matches I've taken on--both as the "Survivor" and the "Mastermind." This game uses the same game engine as Resident Evil 3, so the graphics are amazingly similar. Also, the company behind the game offers future updates for this online expansion, which offers those who want more out of the experience additional gameplay. If you are looking for a fully-functional, innovative, and chaotic multiplayer experience set in the Resident Evil universe, Resident Evil: Resistance is for you.Overall, Resident Evil 3, and its additional content game, Resident Evil: Resistance, offers unique, revolutionary, and thrilling adventures that any survival horror and multiplayer fan would love. I'm still playing through both games as I write this, and I am enjoying every second of the experience.
